Threetime nba Champ Lebron James hungry for that fourth ring. What hes saying about his former team, and this morning, miami superstar jimmy butler talking to gma ahead of the highly anticipated series. We do say good morning, america. Great to be with you on this wednesday morning after a late night and, george, it is hard to find the words to describe what we saw on that debate stage last night. One word comes to mind, how about disgrace. It was an absolute disgrace. It was a mockery of a president ial debate, an insult to our democracy. From the start President Trump was determined to defy the rules, repeat falsehoods, attack joe biden and dominate the stage and joe biden seemed exasperated, uneven at times, most forceful when he spoke to directly to the American People on issues like covid. What lingers the morning after, the sense our civic life has hit a new low. Our Political Team have been working all night to cover the fallout. Mary bruce starts us off in cleveland. Good morning, mary. Michael, good morning. This was a disaster. It is already being called the worst debate in modern history. Any substance was completely overshadowed by the president constantly interrupting and squabbling. There were no winners here on the stage last night, and for americans looking for answers, this was a real loss for them too. Within minutes it was clear this debate was going to be ugly. I just want to make sure i want to make sure you graduated last in your class, not first in your class. Reporter the president badgering biden. Can you let him finish, sir. He doesnt know how to do that. Youd be surprised. Youd be surprised. Reporter the former Vice President exasperated. Will you shut up, man. Reporter trying to look past his opponent and his attacks, over and over again, speaking to the American People. You folks at home, how many of you got up this morning and had an empty chair at the Kitchen Table because someone died of covid. Reporter during a discussion on race the president asked once and for all to condemn white supremacy. Trump instead telling a far right Extremist Group to, quote, stand by. You have repeatedly criticized the Vice President for not specifically calling out antifa and other left wing Extremist Groups, but are you willing tonight to condemn White Supremacists and militia groups and to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities as we saw in kenosha and as weve seen in portland . Sure, im willing to do that. Are you prepared to do that . Ill do it. I would say almost everything i see is from the left wing, not from the right wing. What are you saying im willing to do anything i want to see peace. Then do it, sir. Do it, say it. What do you want to call them what do you want to call them . Give me a name. Who would you like me to condemn . White supremacists and right wing militia. Proud boys. Proud boys, stand back and stand by, but ill tell you what ill tell you what. Somebodys got to do something about antifa and the left because this is not a right wing preporter on the pandemic biden ripped into the president s response. The president has no plan. He hasnt laid out anything. Its all set up. He said by easter it would all be gone away, by the warm weather it would be gone, miraculous like a miracle and in the meantime, maybe you can inject some bleach in your arm and it would take care of it. Reporter with the economic fallout the president said he would recommend a shutdown. We dont need someone to shut it down. You cant fix the economy until you fix the covid crisis and has no intention of you all at home in terms of health and safety. Im the one that brought back football. By the way, i brought back big ten football. Reporter with Health Care Top of mind for many voters, trump was asked where is his plan to replace obamacare. Over the last four years you have promised to repeal and replace obamacare but you have never in these four years come up with a plan, a comprehensive plan to replace. Yes, i have. Of course, i have. Well i got rid of the individual mandate. Ill let you finish excuse me, i got rid of the individual mandate which is a big chunk that is absolutely a big thing. That was the worst part of obamacare. Sir chris, that was the worst part of obamacare. Let me ask my question. Reporter the moderator, fox news Chris Wallace repeatedly forced to step in, and chastising the president. Gentlemen, i hate to raise my voice. I understand, youve agreed to the two minutes. Please let him have it. Frankly, youve been doing more interrupting than he has. Well, hes no, were done, sir. Were moving on to the next you know, if you want to switch seats reporter the president was pressed about that blockbuster the New York Times reporting that trump paid just 750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017. Will you tell us how much you paid in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017 . Millions of dollars. You paid millions of dollars . Millions of dollars. So not 750 . Millions of dollars and youll get to see it. And youll get to see it. When . Reporter again the conversation quickly devolving. The tax code that made him put him in a position that he pays less tax than a schoolteacher, im going to eliminate those taxes and make sure we invest in the people who, in fact, need the help. People out there need help. But why didnt you do it in the last 25 years . Because you werent the president screwing things up. You were a senator youre the worst president america has ever had. Reporter 34 days to go and the candidates trying to make their closing arguments. There has never been an administration or president who has done more than ive done in a period of 3 1 2 years. Under this president weve become weaker, sicker, poorer, more divided and more violent. Reporter if the election doesnt go his way trump foreshadowing turmoil again without evidence claiming there will be Election Fraud and refusing to say if he will accept the results. You go first. Im urging my supporters to go into the polls and watch very carefully because thats what has to happen. If its a fair election, i am 100 on board but if i see tens of thousands of ballots being manipulated, i cant go along with that and ill tell you what does that mean that youll tell your people to take to the streets . It means you have a fraudulent election. Reporter biden says theres a simple answer. Its the same process. Its honest. No one has established at all that there is fraud related to mailin ballots, that somehow its a fraudulent process. If i win, that will be accepted. If i lose itll be accepted but, by the way, if, in fact, he says hes not sure what hes going to accept, let me tell you something, it doesnt matter because if we get the votes, its going to be all over. Hes going to go. Reporter as exhausting as that charade was, we still have two more debates to go and this morning the campaigns say they are still on. Their next faceoff now set for just two weeks, robin. Exhausting is the word. Mary, thank you. We turn to our chief White House Correspondent jon karl. Good morning, jon. What are you hearing from the trump and biden teams about last night . Reporter robin, the Trump Campaign is trying to say the president put in a strong performance. The rnc went so far as to say, quote, President Trump made a confident, commanding and compelling case for his reelection. But, robin, nobody really believes that. I heard from republicans after the debate, some during the debate, frankly, exasperated by the president s performance. The bullying, the rudeness, the incessant interrupting of the moderator, the utter inability to make a case for what he would do in the next four years if he was reelected as president. You know, democrats werent particularly thrilled with joe bidens performance, but they believe the contrast was crystal clear, that there was only one person on that stage who appeared plausibly president ial and it was not the person who flew on air force one last night. They also point out, the biden campaign, they had their single best hour of fundraising last night between the hours of 10 00 p. M. And 11 00 p. M. I want to ask about the moment from the debate that we also saw in marys report when the president of the United States of america is asked if hes willing to condemn White Supremacists, jon. Reporter robin, that was the low point of the debate. I believe that may have been the low point of the entire campaign. The president was asked to condemn White Supremacists generally, and then he was asked to specifically condemn a group called the proud boys. Now, the proud boys are a racist group known to provoke violence on the streets. They call themselves white chauvinists. This is an easy thing to do. He not only did not condemn them, he didnt even criticize them. And unfortunately, robin, its really part of a problem part of a pattern that weve seen with donald trump that weve seen for years. Weve seen it for over a decade. He has not apologized for his role as the central figure in the birther movement, a frankly racist movement, and when david duke endorsed his campaign back in 2016, he took days to condemn it and only did it after he was asked a question by a reporter. He seemed annoyed by the question. He said he endorsed me, okay, i disavow. I disavow, hardly heart felt and then of course what we saw play out after charlottesville when the world saw White Supremacists marching with tiki torches and saying jews will not support us and he said there were very fine people on both sides. Thats the moment when joe biden said he decided he was going to run for president. All right, jon, thank you very much. I know you have much more, george. Rahm emanuel and Chris Christie joining us now. Chris, let me begin with you. You were part of the president s debate prep. How does he clean up this proud boys moment last night . Will he do it . Well, listen, i think, again, george, i heard it differently last night when he said, sure, i will, right off the top in response to it but if theres any doubt about that he said, stand up and stand by. He said, stand by. That was a call to arms. George, george, i didnt read it that way, but if you want to read it that way thats your prerogative. You asked me how to clean it up and thats the question im answering, and the way to do that is the next opportunity the president has to clarify that answer because folks like you and others are confused by it, then he should do that, and i think, you know, what happened last night ai id during our program last night was that the president came up much too hot in that regard, too aggressive in the debate, and that joe biden came out in a way that concerned me as well because there were numerous times during that debate where he drifted off in mid sentence, where he got numbers wrong, where he didnt seem to be able to make or complete a point. So i dont think anybody should feel assured by either one of their performances last night and they have work to do when both get back on stage on october 15th. I would point out the proud boys werent confused by what the president said last night. They were cheering overnight. Rahm emanuel, your response . I think this debate will be remembered for the two is. Insults and interruptions. And i think what the president did is just reminding people of what theyre exhausted by in a very dramatic hour and a half terms. I also think the president went into this election, this debate, rather, trying to change the directions, change peoples perception of him, and if anything he doubled down on why people really want to turn the page from this presidency. He left in that moment about the proud boys, continues a moral stain on the presidency, not only that he refused to condemn them but not a single republican condemned the president s unwillingness to challenge and openly racist organization. We have not seen this out of the white house for over 170 years, Something Like that, so i think in this way biden had strong moments when he looked right at the camera and addressed people. Anybody would have gotten knocked off given the constant interruption insults, and i think the American People were disgusted as a group at this and mainly every time Chris Wallace tried to get the president to let joe biden finish, he kept interrupting and i think it showed people why they want to turn the page on this presidency and get the country moving in some direction. Rahm, some democrats say joe biden shouldnt come to the next two debates. There is obviously its not just democrats. I think first of all whatever the audience hear, it will debate in two and three and i a has to have multiple tools in the toolbox and the president said i got only one tool. Its a drill and its just going to go without any anaesthesia, and i dont think people want to see that. I think the president really hurt himself because it showed that theres not going to be anything different for the next four years. In a president ial election on an incumbent, its either play or trade. I think the American People saw last night theyd like to make a trade. Rahm emanuel, Chris Christie, thanks very much. Michael . She spent tens of millions funding nxivm whose founder was convicted of sex trafficking and child exploitation. She is due in court and could be looking at serious prison time. Amy is here with more on that. Good morning, amy. Reporter good morning to you. Bronfman pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy charges and has spent the past two years in home confinement. According to prosecutors she still refuses to disavow nxivm or its disgraced founder Keith Raniere. This morning, clare bronfman, heiress to seagrams liquor fortune, is appearing in court set to be sentenced for her role inside the socalled cult nxivm. According to prosecutors, the 41yearold whose father is a philanthropist and former beverage tycoon was worth billions before his passing and used her extraordinary wealth and social status to fund and promote a criminal enterprise led by Keith Raniere. Why is it that i can have relationships with multiple women for a long time . Reporter prosecutors say raniere, who is the focus of hbo documentary the vow was a con man and predator who took advantage of women, allegedly recruiting some into a secret sorority within nxivm, blackmailing them with nude photos, threatening to expose their deepest darkest secrets to be his slaves and have sex with him. Some alleged they were even branded with the symbol that includes his initials. Bronfman joined the socalled Selfhelp Group in 2003 and moved to albany where it was based and devoted her life to it giving the Group Millions of dollars. I was a professional show jumper living in holland and i started working with the founder and the cofounder of the organization Nancy Salzman and Keith Raniere and the best place to be given that i was working with keith and nancy was in albany, so i bought a farm, created a professional facility and moved up here. Reporter prosecutors say she spent over 100 million in part to fund nxivms legal battles against former members, allegedly hiring lawyers and pr firms to discredits critics and also gave raniere a 67 million loan which was never repaid. Prosecutors say she even allegedly targeted her own father by installing malware on his computer after he called nxivm a cult in forbes magazine. You know, clare inherited 250 million from her father when he died. Reporter the documentary also explains bronfman and her sister sir ra who has not been charged with any crime, used their wealth and connections to bring the dalai lama to albany and introduced him to raniere. You all have to judge your group. [ laughter ] dont refer to me as a guru. Im not a guru. Not a guru. Or teacher. Reporter last year bronfman pleaded guilty to Identity Theft to help raniere evade taxes and an immigration violation. Prosecutors accused her of lying to secure visas for women from mexico to work for their group. Her lawyers have said she did not know about the trafficking or alleged sexual abuse and believed the group was a force for good. Bronfman still stands behind raniere, last month writing in a letter to the judge saying, many people including most of my family, believe i should disavow keith and nxivm, however, for me, nxivm and keith greatly changed my life for the better. Now, the seagrams heiress is the first to be sentenced for her involvement in nxivm. Prosecutors are asking the judge to sentence her to five years behind bars. Shes asking for three years probation and no jail time. Keith raniere will face life in prison when sentenced next month. Theres nothing smart about you. Nonstop attacks and interruptions from the president. Will you shut up . The stunning moment when President Trump refused to condemn White Supremacists. Proud boys, stand back and stand by. Overnight the proud boys cheering those remarks as both address the fallout. Were live from cleveland. Also this morning, alcohol. The pandemic and women. The new study revealing big increases in drinking. Dr. Ashton with what to watch for and the risks to your health. Teens and microaggression, the seemingly small slights that can make a major toll. What those teens are saying about it in their own words and advice that everyone should hear this morning. The Digital Divide crisis. As 50 Million Students across the country adjust to online learning, so many of them with no access to the internet. The ways some schools and parents are providing lifelines. Gma teaming up for a big surprise that could change the school year this morning. And john cena joining us live. And hes saying good morning, america. Lovely, lovely day just cant help but smile to hear this song and when you know john cena is coming up later. Itll be a lovely day for some high School Students. Yes, it is. The high School Students at Riley High School in south bend, indiana, such a great group of kids. Like so many students, they are learning at home. They dont have the Internet Access they need, and their School District came up with a creative way to get them connected. A big surprise you dont want to clin tfallounightss big debate. From the start President Trump was determined to defy the rules, repeat falsehoods, attack joe biden and dominate the stage, the former Vice President was forceful when he addressed people on issues like the pandemic. Mary bruce with more on the fallout. Good morning, mary. Reporter well, george, this is already being called the worst debate in our nations history. Any substance was completely overshadowed by the president s constant interrupting and squabbling. Within minutes it was clear this debate was going to be ugly. I just want to make sure i want to make sure you graduated last in your class, not first in your class. Reporter the president badgering biden. Can you let him finish . He doesnt know how to do that. Youd be surprised. Youd be surprised. Reporter the former Vice President exasperated. Will you shut up, man . Reporter trying to look past his opponent and his attacks over and over again. Biden speaking directly to the American People. Look. You folks at home, how many got up this morning and had an empty chair at the Kitchen Table because someone died of covid . Reporter the moderator, Chris Wallace from fox news repeatedly forced to step in, at points chastised the president. Gentlemen, i hate to raise my voice. I understand. Youve agreed to the two minutes so please let him have it. Reporter during a discussion on race the president asked once and for all to condemn white supremacy. Trump instead telling a far right Extremist Group to, quote, stand by. Are you willing tonight to condemn White Supremacists and militia groups and to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities as we saw in kenosha and as weve seen in portland . What do you want to call them . Give me a name. White supremacists and right wing militia. Proud boys, stand back and stand by, but ill tell you what. Ill tell you what. Somebodys got to do something about antifa and the left because this is not a right wing problem. His own fbi director said its a reporter on the pandemic biden ripped into the president s response. This is the same man that told you by easter this would be gone away. By the warm weather itd be gone miraculously like a miracle. By the way, maybe you could inject some bleach into your arm and that could take care of it. Reporter the president slamming biden for saying he would shut down the country if medical experts recommended it. We dont need someone saying shut it down. You cant fix the economy until you fix the covid crisis. He has no intention to making better at home, with concern to health and safety. Reporter with 34 days to go, the candidates trying to make their closing argument. There has never been an administration or president who has done more than ive done in a period of 3 1 2 years. Under this president weve become weaker, sicker, poorer and more divided. Reporter this morning both campaigns are trying to spin the charade. Republicans are saying that the president had a commanding and compelling performance while the biden team says he showed stability while the president was just evoking chaos, but lets be honest here. There were no winners on that stage last night, and for americans looking for answers, this was a real loss for them too. George . Mary, thanks very much. Let me ask you something here, george, there are people who made up their mind who theyll vote for. Most people. Most people but the undecideds, they need to hear abouthsu. How are they going the debate was set to have six topics, all the big issues. Covid, the economy, protests, the records of the candidates, but you saw what happened as the questions started to get asked. If the president isnt willing to play by the rules of the debate it will be very difficult for people to get a clear sense of where the candidate stands. Even Chris Christie who is a big supporter of the president said one of the things the president had to do in a debate is actually lay out what he would do in a second term because a lot are waiting for that. We heard precious little about that. More debates . Supposed to be. Do you think theyll still its hard to know. Such an unpredictable year and such unpredictable candidates right now. Im not sure. My guess is they probably will go forward but no guarantee and i never would have said that in any other year. Exactly, george. Thank you. We turn to a gma health alert. That new study about Drinking Alcohol in the time of covid showing some big increases especially among women and dr. Jennifer ashton is going to help us. Tell us more about the study, jen. Yeah, robin. Rt appeared in jama. They compared alcohol use spring of 2019 to the spring of 2020. So during covid, and take a listen to these numbers, robin. They found that overall adults are consuming alcohol 14 more. Among women, theres a 41 increase in heavy drinking and about 1 in 5 women are having one additional day of heavy drinking every single month. So its really taking the pulse on how the pandemic is affecting Alcohol Consumption at home. Such a big increase. How does this impact a Womans Health . Well, we need to remember that excessive alcohol use amongst women in particular which is defined as more than seven servings of alcohol a Week Associated with heart disease, Breast Cancer, liver cancer, depression and anxiety, and when you remember, robin, that one serving is described as five ounces of wine, it can be very easy to be at or above that seven servings servings servings all right, jen. Thank you very much. Adding to that is is that Liquor Stores were part of essential businesses and other companies have not been. Coming up, teens and microaggressions, those comments that can be quite hurtful. Some sharing their frustrations and the expert advice to help stop them. Also this morning, with the major desk shortage gma viewers sent us pictures of how theyre working at home and becky worley has tips on where to find a desk and how to make a diy one work. This time with oscar winner Barry Jenkins set to direct. The story will reportedly follow the rise of simbas mufasa. His second project with disney currently working on a biopic of aln le soping, Jennifer Aniston admitting she almost quit acting just before she was cast in the morning show. On the podcast smartless, hosted by her friends will ar net, sean hayes and jason bateman, she had this surprising answer. I would have to say the last two years that has crossed my mind which it never did before. Really . Why is that. Because you feel satisfied. Or before you started the morning show. It was after a job i had completed and i was like, whoa, that was really that sucked the life out of me and i dont know if this is what interests me. Well, thankfully she did stick it out. Her role on the morning show, earning her a s. A. G. Award this year. She would not spill on which project she was talking about that almost made her quit. Sticking with positive she did tell the boys her two favorite roles, rachel green on friends and 2011 comedy just go with it costarring adam sandler which i need to watch again. Also this morning, we can finally announce to you the do it wasnt you, riva. Sorry. Thousands entered. All were worthy. Only one can win and the precious pup is lamb chop. Lamb chops mom telling good morning america, quote, its an honor to share her story during puppy mill Awareness Month in hopes of making sure no other dog has to live a similar life. You can read more about lamb chop and the runnersup in this weeks issue in people magazine. It was an honor being one of your judges. Youll get over it, honey. Guage. These parrots in the uk ruffled more than a few feathers for swearing at visitors as they walk by their enclosure. According to the park director, these dirty birds flew off the handle in pandemic egging each other on by seemingly laughing as the others hurled curse words at passers by. The director says you name it, they can and have said it. Needless to say they have since been moved to a private enclosure and on that note, i will send it back to you in the studio, amy. Thank you very much. They had to learn it from somebody or somewhere. Exactly. Hmm. It wasnt me. It wasnt me. Boy, she jumped in really hmm. Thank you, lara. We turn to our gma cover story on teens and microaggressions. The small seemingly harmless comments that can actually have a big impact. Gma is getting an exclusive look at what teens are experiencing today from a lifestyle site for parents. Deb roberts has a closer look and i will be listening extra closely, this morning, deb. Reporter good morning, amy. Yeah, you should because teens certainly know about it. This is an ongoing online video series that often takes a deep dive into the world of teens, and in this case, talking to kids from all walks of life about those daily slights called microaggressions which can be demeaning and hurtful, and what they discovered is that teens are particularly vulnerable. Im pretty for a black girl which is not a compliment. That i act white. That i am articulate to be black. Reporter teenagers sharing frustrations in their everyday lives. Have you ever been told by a history teacher that i would know more about slavery than them. Reporter describing little slights, demeaning and often with racial undertones called microaggressions. The subject of a video series from hatch for back to school talking with seven teens about their experiences. Someone who was my friend said they wouldnt come over to my house because they didnt want to get shot or mugged or robbed. Reporter the term tossed around in current call churultu what does it mean . Microaggressions are the seemingly subtle things that oftentimes are unintentional that are these negative slights towards individuals who are from marginalized groups. There is a statistic that says young black women experience five instances of Racial Discrimination a day. How so . I do believe that microaggressions and racism are part of the same continuum. Reporter something 15yearold gabrielle knows all too well. It makes you feel awful. It makes you feel like you are dismissed. It makes you feel unheard. Reporter she says casual insensitive comments from classmates can hurt deeply. What did you think when you heard your daughter say microaggressions make her feel awful and unheard . It breaks my heart. Respecting and acknowledging differences is what we should be striving to do. Is it harmful emotionally or is it harmful psychologically . It is psychologically taxing, you know, and it has an impact on selfesteem, starts to impact anxiety and depression and worry. Reporter and it can be complicated. Especially if the person who is offending has no intention of being hurtful. So whats a teen to do . Take a deep breath and center yourself because yes. When our emotions get the best of us, and maybe this is the third time this has happened in a day, they could say you may not have realized it, but what you said is hurtful. My hope is that we can get to a place where these conversations can happen in a way that we can all collectively change and come closer together. Reporter this Campaign Begins this week as a way of sort of helping kids to speak up and speak out against racism or any kind of intolerance. The experts say as you heard in the piece, it can be difficult, and takes courage, but it can go a long way to leading to understanding and not hostility. Yeah, such important conversations for teens. Thank you so much. There will be much more of our turning point series later this week on nightline. Looking forward to watching that. Turning now to gmas special, back to school, making the connection. This morning were taking a look at one of the Biggest Challenges American Students face with nearly 50 Million Students across the country required to get online and learn. Over 15 million of them dont have the Internet Access, the problem of our countrys Digital Divide is more urgent than ever. Epter central jimenez mountains of new mexico, the school year is looking different because of the pandemic. Due to the Internet Service the unreliable access, i have to deliver packages to my students so that they dont fall behind. Reporter with little to no Internet Access on the reservation, its taken away connection to tradition. To keep our tradition strong is to continue to learn our language, and without Internet Access, i dont think well have the privilege of that. Reporter some tribal communities having to seek good connectivity elsewhere. We had families that might go to town to go to a starbucks or mcdonalds to use wifi. Reporter this is just one example as schools turn to Remote Learning of the Digital Divide widening. Due to the pandemic, 50 million children are learning remotely, and between 15 million to 16 million lack adequate internet or devices to learn effectively. 9 million dont have access at all. In 2020, you simply cant be part of modern society if you dont have broad band, and you cant get a modern education. Reporter from the smokes stakes Allegheny County in pennsylvania we did not have cable or the internet because we couldnt afford it. Reporter to the streets of baltimore city. 20,000 families even before the pandemic hit did not have access to broadband in the city of baltimore, which translates to about 40,000 of our students. Reporter and the Southern City of jackson, mississippi. We are having our Remote Learning and virtual instruction and some scholars who are not able to participate do packets to receive their instruction rather than logging in. Reporter a pressing need for more permanent solution. Were putting a generation of lowincome and rural kids in an impossible situation. Reporter but these communities are determined. We cant return to the underserved, underconnected precovid days. Our education and our health are on the line. We have to think about whats best for making everything work for our families. And coming up, well look at another School District thats working hard to keeptandin by t reporter good morning, michael. Normally school buses take kids to school, but here in south bend, indiana, theyve come up with an innovative way for kids to get school from the buses using free wifi. Weve got more on up. Plus, a big surprise for all the folks here. Michael . Yeah. You know how we love surprises, will. Cannot wait for that. Now were going to go to ginger. Hey, hey, some stunning numbers. 3. 8 million acres burned alrea now we were talking about desk shortage making working and learning from home even more challenging like you need that. Becky worley has tips, though, on finding one or making what you have work. Good morning, becky. Reporter good morning, robin. Yeah, whether its kids sprawled out on the Kitchen Table or grownups throwing a plank up on sawhorses like i have here, this desk shortage is making some desperate to make their work spaces work. The lowly desk is suddenly a hot commodity. Why . From nd the rzationte work for us ad these philadelphia shoppers sounding a little desperate. When i started looking at a bunch of stores, things were out of stock. Im still waiting for it to come. It was supposed to be here yesterday. Its been a month. Back to school has been really challenging in so many ways. Not the least of which has been trying to find the right supplies. Those supplies are very different than prior years. Its not loose leaves and crayons. Its desks. Reporter searches for the term kids desk rose 3,783 and computer desk is up 257 on amazon. Meanwhile sales of desks up 283 from last year. So while back orders and price increases have left desk purchasers benched, the necessity has created quite a few makeshift setups. Our viewers submitting these pics. A sewing machine table, a homemade work space made with 2x4s and press board and the really, really makeshift desks. Ironing board, a dog crate and my own box base standing desk. Getting it done, whatever it takes. No matter what your setup, dont forget the ergonomics so the table height should be at about your elbows. If you need to put a cushion in your chair to get that, thats fine. If you can get the laptop up at eye level and use external keyboard and mouse and support your wrists when typing, especially important for kids robin. Absolutely. This is just making it work. As everybody is doing like you are with your crew. All right, coming up, john ceng us live. Come on back. Up, john cena joining us live. Come on back. The pain is always around the corner. O im to help californias 19 most vulnerable. Over 24,000 homes were destroyed by wildfires in less than two years. Too many of those victims are also hit with a sudden tax hike after their forced to move. Its wrong. Prop 19 limits taxes on wildfire victims and limits taxes on seniors and severely disabled homeowners. Join firefighters and Emergency Responders in voting yes on 19. Wean air force veteran made of doing whats right,. Not whats easy. So when a hailstorm hit, usaa reached out before he could even inspect the damage. Thats how you do it right. Usaa insurance is made just the way martins family needs it with hasslefree claims, he got paid before his neighbor even got started. Because doing right by our members, thats whats right. Usaa. What youre made of, were made for. Usaa welcome back to gma. You know, it is great to be back in the studio. Im getting used to having my heels and spandex on which is different. You know what is different which i love, the music. The music that were now playing in the commercial breaks. We have a deejay. Cameraman, deejay, he does it all. It really gets you in the mood. Im in the mood for some nba finals that will tip off tonight. That also means that jimmy kimmel is back with an allstar edition of mean tweets featuring an nba legend. Take a look. If anything ever happens to the guy that does the voice for cookie monster, i can sleep at night knowing we have Dikembe Mutombo as a backup. Thats funny. Oh, too funny. You can watch Jimmy Kimmel Live game night primetime special at 8 00 right before the finals right here on abc. That was perfect. What is perfect our next guest, a man of many talents, john cena is a wwe superstar, actor, bestselling author and can bench press over 400 pounds. Oh, wow. His new childrens book, elbow grease fast friends, is out now. Good to see you. Good morning, my friend. Thank you so much for having me back. Great to see you virtually but still great to see you. Either way its always great. That was your wwe walkout song. The time is now 15 years later. Do you still love it when you hear it or kind of over it, sick of it . Its been about 20 years and aweek, and i never get sick of s it. It is fantastic that people have embraced it whether to make a meme or just for a wwe event or the excitement it brings people. I never get sick of it. Such a good sport about that. Suicide squad sequel, a lot of people are excited about this. Youll play a peacemaker in the sequel. I know there is a lot of mystery. Is there just one thing, john just one thing you can tell us about it . Oh, yeah, ill state the obvious. James gunn, and i think thats what the root of the excitement is all about. The cast has so many big names and can look for so many spectacular performances but that world is so excited because of james gunn. He has a proven track record for creating wonderful narrative and telling exciting stories and taking bold chances. When you hear that he is attached everybody gets excited. We saw a clip of you in your outfit. Looks amazing. You know the part of a superhero. You had to train to be a superhero in the movie. Whats tougher training to be a wwe superstar or training to be a superhero . Well, physically the training for both is equal because i never change the way i live. I kind of train to be as healthy and strong as i can be given the confines of a 24hour day. Its much more difficult to train to be a wwe superstar because in a time before covid, i would step in to perform every night and there would be a giant group of people telling me i suck. So that takes some thick skin that you have to develop that you dont get on the set of suicide squad. You say you never change the way you live as in never change . Come on. I know you eat healthy. Obviously youre working out but dont you have at least one cheat food . Or something you could share . You know what, i should retract that statement because i believe we should always evolve. Im constantly changing but i try to develop consistency because longterm health and wellness is a consistency is the root of that. I dont want to say cheat food. I love cookies. Im like the cookie monster. Yesterday i may have had over my limit of cookies but thats my goto food. You know, youre always finding creative ways to stay positive and encourage your fans to never give up. How were you able to keep that up in the ring for all those years and keep telling yourself that . I think its the giveback of energy that we as wwe performers and you get the same thing when you socially interact with people who watch the program. Their attitude and energy can help you and support you especially during down times and ive always said wwe is my family and heavily leaned on the wwe universe and they lean back on me, and we share that energy, and that never give up philosophy, a lot of that is rooted in their energy. Love that. All right. Well, lets talk about your childrens book. Elbow grease fast friends, third installment. What made you choose to go from wrestler to Children Books author . In wwe a lot of kids and families were watching me specifically and attached to those words never give up so as my career dwindles i wanted to continue to send that message but just like i do in wwe. I dont hit people over the head with it pun intended so we have this Wonderful World of crazy large monster trucks that have a great time in their demolition derby, but underlying themes of perseverance, selfworth, managing emotions, confronting fears, being okay with who you are. All of that material is in the book for the reader to take away if they choose. Its not a force. Whats there is a wonderful cool story about a bunch of monster trucks wrecking stuff. And a family of monster trucks at that. There is a word ive read a big hit. Gumption. You use that a lot. Yeah. So something simple like that. This book is for Young Readers, so when you introduce Young Readers to a clever new word like gumption, they ask what is it and that begins a conversation about perseverance and grit which is an essential topic that needs to be discussed if you have any longterm success in life. We follow you on social media as well. Your inspiring messages you put out, you know, do you have a morning mantra for us this morning . You know what, this morning, just because of recent events i would venture to say that let us not forget that the purpose of any political race is to provide security, guidance and lay the foundation of future prosperity for the human race. All of us. So my thoughts are to provoke conversation. I hope that thought provokes conversation in what should be an already riveting morning conversation. Thank you guys so much for having me. Ah. Such a renaissance man. The man with everything. Thank you so much. I have to get my life together. Ponder that. Elbow grease fast friends is out now. Thank you so much, john. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Coming up next, the sisters of the skies, how a group of black female pilots are now inspiring more women of color to take flight. Take flight. It was inspiring to see my peer fly a plane. My dreams are coming true. Reporter incredibly in america, there are less than 150 professional black female pilots and one group is trying to change that. Representation matters. I dont think i met my first black female pilot until i was in my 30s. Reporter they call themselves the sisters of the skies, a tightknit group looking to inspire the next generation.
