Its them giving my life back. My name is norbie, and yes, i do suffer from posttraumatic stress disorder, but im okay. Breaking news at 5 00, homes and cars are going up in flames in the north bay, the wind is fueling three fires in napa and sonoma counties, this is new video from the shadedy fire. Thanks for being with us. Today is monday, september 28. And here we go again on fire watch as part of the north bay burns. Well check in now with lisa noa arre argen, it will be hot for everyone. So hot we still have the heat advisory until 7 00 and 9 00 tonight. Live doppler 7, no fog out there. And as soon as light happens, well be able to see the signature of those flames from the satellite picture. The glass fire, shady fire,, boizboi boyson fire and you can see that the winds are north to northeast continuing to dry out the atmosphere. So right now temperatures are near 80 degrees, even warmer than that in spots. Relative humidity, 15 and dropping with the winds out of the north at 8. All around the winds are gusting to 30 and 40 Miles Per Hour. Now, when there is a fire, the flames reach the fires ahead uphill. So fires want to travel up a him side. But the north wind is allowing for the winds to move downslope, is it th so that is slowing the rate of spread. But really not much good news. As we look at the current temperatures, 64 in campbell, 73 in alameda. How about 75 right now in San Francisco and 84 in napa. So you can see no cooling at all except if you are right there Half Moon Bay at 55 degrees. So well look at not only the warmer temperatures that were building on from yesterday, you can see 2 to 10 degrees of warming, but more drying in atmosphere today as the winds continue at least for the next five hours or so. You can see hawkeye here, mout. Diab diablo, 28 mileperhour wind gusts. And after about 10 00, these winds will dial back and well get a break in terms of the wind speed, but the wind direction will still be out of the northeast. So air quality today obviously poor in the north bay, east bay, south bay spare the air alert. And then were looking at the relative humidity this morning, already it is low. But this is about 3 00, 4 00, were down to about 8 . So yeah unfortunate conditions. So we have the creek fire to the south, the fires to the north and is this a loop that shows that the wind activity will keep poor air quality over the bay area for the day today. So as we look at the wind profile, notice by 9 00, 10 00, the winds get lighter. So we have that going for us. And there is fog to the south of us, this is the afternoon. So it will help out the coast. But by tomorrow, the coast and bay will feel the femgts of the marine layer. But not for our friends inland. Look at this wider view, as we get into the week ahead, the winds will shift and they will be in our favor, but this will take several days. So looking at highs today really warm out there, 20 degrees above average, 96 in fremont, 9999 napa. And the 7 day forecast, hot inland until friday and then some fog approaching the coast and bay late tonight into tomorrow. But still very gusty offshore winds throughout the morning. With the Evacuation Orders and changing conditions, we know road closures will change as well. But highway 12 is closed east of santa rosa. Also through ken wood. And many closures on 128. 128 is the section you want to avoid through kacalistoga. And there is traffic on 29 and you want to avoid highway 12 east of santa rosa through ken wood and gasoline glennnnnnnnnnn area. And in athere are many roads cl through the area. Asoline glenn area. And there are many roads closed through the area. Oline glenn al. And there are many roads closed through the area. Ine glenn alle. And there are many roads closed through the area. Ne glenn allen. And there are many roads closed through the area. E glenn allen. And there are many roads closed through the area. Glenn allen a. And there are many roads closed through the area. Glenn allen ar. And there are many roads closed through the area. Kenwood and gl. And there are many roads closed through the area. And they will be changing as the fire conditions change. Well keep you posted and well tweet out all close smurs a closures. And well hone in now on the glass fire, this is the original fire that started burning over the weekend. At least 2500 acres in st. Helena. We want to show you the most uptodate Evacuation Orders and warning. The parts in blue need to leave as soon as possible. Yellow needs to be ready to go. This is silverado trail. And Amy Hollywood is in st. Helena this morning with how things are looking now. Reporter look behind me, the glass fire is raging. It is going very strong. It has been burning for 24 hours, even though it is pretty calm right now, were not experiencing intense winds, it is a little cool, this thing is still going. And weve been watching it go in both directions. It is going down the hill and up the hill. So it looks like it is not fitting any kind of pattern that were used to seeing on a fire. This one is just burning out of control at will. We do have video from overnight, i also want to show you of the fire burning along the silverado trail up in the hills of the silverado trail. We have seen structures burn in this area, at least two that we saw while this video is being shot. This is on the back side of the frank family vineyard in cal stowe sg c calistoga. And we talked to a young evacuee. I was kind of scared. Were scared that it might come where we live and well have to evacuate. Reporter at 3 45 this morning, more Evacuation Orders coming in for the east area of Howell Mountain road north of the chestnut or the crest mount drive to cold springs road. They have set up an Evacuation Center at Crosswalk Community church. That is on 1st street in napa. They are saying that all stoeshl distance rules and mask enforcements will be honored there at the Evacuation Center to try to keep everyone as safe as they can. No containment on this glass fire, right now they are trying to get everyone to safety. And we hope to get more information for you later this morning. From st. Helena, Amy Hollyfield, abc 7 news. Good morning, we are starting out so much warmer, temperatures in the mid70s in San Francisco right now. Cloverdale at 84, 70 in hayward. And so with the fire, numbers are in the 80s, relative humidity at 20 and dropping. And the winds are quite gusty up until about 10 00, were looking at wind gusts anywhere from 15 to 20 to 45 miles an hour. Look at mount saint helena, certainly gust it i along the diablo range as well. So we have a red 1234r5g warnfl. And vacaville looking at moderate air quality and the rest of the bay is okay, but that certainly will change as we look at the flames or the smoke from the fires in the north bay being pushed into the east bay and further south. Here is tuesday, no break inland, were near 100 degrees. Santa rosa is a bit cooler wednesday, but you thursday another burst of heat, these bright pinks here allow for more excessive heat as we get through just the middle of the week. So it will take at least four days, but as for today, spare the air alert, 100 in concord as well as santa rosa, 97 in oa oakla oakland, poor air quality and excessive heat. Here is the accuweather 7 day forecast. Well keep it hot throughout the period. And that will continue to be the case today and air quality will decline as were looking at more hazy conditions around the bay. Red sflflag warning continues. And this is the wind flow out of the northeast, it wont let up until about 10 00. So current check right now, temperatures near 80 in the hills here, relative humidity dangerously low and winds gusting significantly. So were looking at all the fires here in this area and what were watching for of course is a wind shift that wont happen until tomorrow, but at least the winds do subside as we get into about the 11 00 hour. So very warm out there right now, and looking at temperatures just getting hotter, about 20 degrees above average, there is a look at the current winds, 20 to 46 Miles Per Hour. Look at that camera shaking, poor air quality, just another day of this. Temperatures triple digits inland. And is this a lothis is a l gusty conditions. This is video of the Skyhawk Community where you can see structures burning along sun hawk drive. The shady fire roared in to santa rosa few hours ago, countless homes have burned in this area, firefighters are in this area, but there are not enough resources to tend to all of the fires that have erupted in this community of hundreds of homes. Today were expecting another update from governor newsom, he will talk about the states response to the wildfires and the covid19 pandemic at noon. Well be streaming it live right here on abc 7 and online at abc7news. Com and on the free abc 7 news app. Dr. Anthony fauci is on gma this morning speaking about where the u. S. Stands as the weather gets colder. I know, it is just getting warmer here, but obviously there is a concern about winter ahead. He says some parts of the country are doing better than others, but he is really worried about states that are reopening that are reporting i should say worsening case counts. There are states that are starting to show uptick in cases and even some increase in hospitalizations in some states. And i hope not, but we very well might start seeing increases in deaths. That is really something that i had discussed some time ago, something you dont want to be in a position like that as the weather starts getting cold. Dr. Fauci says that it is critical to get Community Spread down as low as possible as we get into the colder months where of course most people will be spending their time inside. And firefighters are working to keep flames from getting closer to the deer park road area where a hospital was evacuated. Cleaning all the air filters, replacing air scrubbers throughout the hospital to keep our air safe. And just keeping everything up and running properly. You have to go through Something Like this and turn off certain medical devices, lock up narcotics, things like that. So all of that was done in methodical fashion. 55 patients were evacuated from thethe center. The facility has temporarily suspended emergency and hospital care. San francisco firefighters are helping in napait is five fire engines heading north to fight the glass fire yesterday. They also sent four ambulances to help with their hospital evacuations. Sadly they will be facing some tough conditions today as lisa has been outlining for us this morning. Lisa. Good morning. Yeah, as we look right now currently at our winds, they are gusting to 44 Miles Per Hour. Hawkeye, mount st. Helena, mount key diablo. Yesterday they were 60 to 70 Miles Per Hour, so not quite as strong and they will continue to subside after 9 00. So were in this burst of wind right now, and it is not even 6 00. So another four hours or so of this before we see them subside. The wind direction wont 1wi67 though. At the surface, we still have breezy winds in cal police toga, but winds are calm at sea level and with all of these fires here, these fans feeding the flames here from the wind certainly with the direction offshore, with the warm dry conditions, the low relative humidity and the fast speed of the winds. So not a good scenario. Looking at temperatures in the hills here, near 80 degrees and the winds continue to be quite gusty out there. So the spare the air alert today, you will notice the poor air quality in the north bay, santa clara valley, and the relative humidity is what we check for the moisture in the atmosphere. And so anywhere from 13 vacaville where you have a breeze to about 76 in oakland and look what happens as we go up broke 1,000 feet. Already at about 16 for the oakland hills, 20 mout. Diablo. So well be in the 90s to triple digits again today. And even though the winds will be less, well still see the air super dry. So were well into the 60s and 70s by about 11 00, 12 00, look at the temperatures 90s for pretty much everyone except if you are right on the coast here. And by about 4 00, were back to the triple digits like yesterday but even drier. There will be always less wind and then well be looking at the cooler conditions, a little fog from santa cruz tonight only helping out our friends in pacifica, Half Moon Bay, maybe into San Francisco. It is tomorrow where the bay will feel a little bit of cooling, but inland, you have to wait until thursday. So with the Evacuation Orders in place, people are trying to get out of the area. Highway 12 is closed through kenwood east of santa rosa. Numerous street closures as well in the area and highway 128 closed between st. Helena and cal police i can show you the map, including silverado trail, deer park road, and also in the highway 12 area, you will want to there are closures as well along highway 12 near warm springs road, near arnold drive and nuns canyon road and the napa Sonoma County line. So these are all the spots to avoid. And well keep you posted and list saul the streall the stree website as with well. We have Live Team Coverage all morning long for you. And we want to get right to lisa argen for the details on what firefighters are up against there. And it is not good news from the weather. In fact well see some very fierce winds and horrible conditions for at least the next five hours as these north northeasterly winds continue to gust in excess of 40 Miles Per Hour. You can see all the way into the north bay the yellows and the direction is on whicc offshore, elevations quite breezy by the delg take and c delta and calistoga. The rest of us not as windy, but any of this allowing for the temperatures to be in the 70s and 80s right now. Here is our satellite picture. We can see the moderate to poor air quality and the smoke being blown to the south and west from the fires to the north, and well continue to see that again today with very little change until the winds begin to sub side. You can see how fast they are moving here up in the north bay, temperatures are here in the upper 70s, but plenty of 80s with the relative humidity below 15 . By noontime, well be in the 90s already. And then throughout the afternoon triple digits. And fog perhaps in Half Moon Bay late tonight, but very little change in our forecast until tomorrow, just are for the coast and bay though, well still be hot inland right through thursday. And fires are forcing evacuations in napa and sonoma counties. New video shows the flames believed to be the shady fire which started in napa county. Want to give you a look at exactly where the fires are burning. Take a look at this map. The glass fire broke out early yesterday morning. It has burned at least 2500 acres. The entire city of calistoga is under an advisory evacuation, that is the very latest. Fire has destroyed a number of homes within Santa Rosa City limits. Flames are burned through the east side of town and even jumped highway 12. Mandatory Evacuation Orders are in effect there. We have a better look to show you which neighborhoods are under Evacuation Orders, sections in orange need to leave now. Yellow means be packed and ready to go. Liz kreutz is live in east santa rosa. Tell us what you are seeing there in. Reporter very hariry conditions here. Im on farm creek lane right now, you can see the spot fires here that have taken over this property, it is pretty chaotic, were seeing spot fire after spot fire, that is really the name of the game. Weve driven down highway 12 on either side. Were between Skyhawk Community and the oakmont community, both of which are under a mandatory Evacuation Order. Look up here into the hills, this is on susan road, were told that there are homes up there and you can see that one completely engulfed in flames. Again, just so many fires popping up around this area, not enough crews to be able to help stop them all. And weve seen multiple spot fires pop up within the past hour that weve been here. And again tens of thousands are under an advantage ace order ca Evacuation Order in this area. And lets walk over to patrick. You are here with a hose, hosing down your property. Yeah, just trying to, you know just trying to keep it from getting into my backyard basically. This is insane. I cant believe there is not a fire crew out here trying to stop this line. I know they are stretched thin, but man, this has been an ongoing thing for about two hours. So im just trying to fend off my are the. A property. And you got the warning about 9 00 last night . Yeah, we got great email, text from the agenci let us know, but still, it is like, you know, you can leave or you can stay and fight for your property. And im trying to stay property property. Once it gets bad, im gone. My family is safe, chickens are in the jeep and im ready to boogie out whenever it gets too hectic. But ill safe my property. And so are you tired . I feel like a lot of usually they say im resilient, but people are just tired here. Im an essential worker and ive been working since march, you know, 40 hour weeks. So this is like okay, on top of everything else, now you have to start doing this. But whatever. Im game for the fight. Bring it. I appreciate your positive spirit. Thank you. It is what it is. Like we can only be here doing what we can do, you know. Were all californians, lets just try to do it together. Thank you so much, be safe. Reporter and so we need a little optimism this morning, dont we . We can stick together. It is hot, it is dry, it is windy, perfect conditions lisa has been talking about to fuel the fire. Well be here live all morning. Liz kreutz, abc 7 news. Of course well be thinking about patrick and his family. Thank you. The fires are threatening many wineries. And this is such a sad thing to see. Flames consuming chateau boswell last night. The glass fireproofing struck differen destructive. This is the most uptodate map of the evacuation warnings and orders. Blue is people who need to leave as soon as possible. Yellow is forget ready to go. This is right along the silverado trail. And Amy Hollyfield is live with how things are looking now. Reporter what i cant believe is all the fingers of this fire, the Different Directions it is going. Were down in the flats, were on pratt road in st. Helena, and look at it just raging right here on this street. But also you can see it burning up in the hills and going every direction. Weve watched it go up, weve watched it go down. It is still going very strong. And it is on 25 hours now. We have a team of firefighters here on pratt road watching the homes here, guarding them. Also knocking on doors and checking on the residents. And we did just get a warning for the entire town of calistoga to go ahead and be on alert, go ahead and start packing that bag and think good thinking about getting out. The glass fire is thought burning a patter that anyone would predict. It is raining ash. We are struggling with all the smoke here. It is not too windy down here in the flats where were standing. But still, this fire burning very strongly. And Evacuation Orders in place, they are telling people that there is an Evacuation Center at the Community Church in napa, and telling people dont forget your masks and social distancing because of course would he have still de were still dealing with covid19. But you see the firefighters here working. So manile spots for them to be and only so many of them fanning out in this area. But they are concentrating here on pratt road. Amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. And we have video we want to show you that shows the fire encroaching deer park road just eastcalistoga. This is not far from Pacific Union college. Campus staff there decided sunday to evacuate the college as a precaution. As we track these fires, were constantly sending you updated information right to your phone. Dwr just down led the free abc 7 news app. And now lets go to lisa and check on the forecast. Right now with those very strong winds elevated to about 4800 feet, that is where the smoke is, aloft. And once the winds begin to dial back, that is what we wants, but then the smoke and edge betters and the ash will begin to fall to the surface. And then it will get down in our atmosphere where we breathe the air and you will see the smoky skies, the gray conditions. But for now, with the very gusty winds in the upper elevations, the smoke is way, way high up there and that will change as we get towards the second half of the day. Right now 25 to 43mileperhour wind gusts from mt. Hood to mount st. Helena. And so of course this is fanning the flames, making the fires more erratic, pushing the embers all around. Right now the air quality is moderate around the bay area with the yellows indicated from santa rosa to napa to vacaville, livermore. There is mist and drizzle and 55 degrees at Half Moon Bay, but that is where the fog will stay. We have breezy winds calistoga and vacaville. And looking at the smoke plume blowing from the northeast to the southwest. And as i said, well continue to see the air quality deteriorate especially today. Now, yesterday those winds were quite gusty a loft too. And at 5 41, were looking at relative humidity of 13 to 88 , but as we go up in height, yes, even is in the teens going down into the single digits. So bad scenario of course. Here is a look at the winds as we go through about 9 00. And then they lighten up. They are still out of the northeast and looking at then more of that smoke moving lower into the atmosphere. You can see the fog coming up from the south, this is wednesday, still hot inland and then were looking at a better scenario as we get into the weekend with that typical onshore flow. Friday cant come soon enough. And even in San Francisco, i could smell the smoke. So lets head to the north bay where there are a lot of evacuations taking place right now. You will notice there are areas of purple, those are stretching that are closed right now, 128 between calistoga and sait. He a helena, and also highway 12 through kenwood area. And also highway 29, expect heavy traffic as folks evacuate to the center in in thnapa. You will want to head north on highway 29 north of tubs lane becuse there are closures on 29 as well. And also emergency folks are saying avoid silverado trail and head to tubs lane. And you can see 128 is slowing as well. So those are some of the spots to avoid. And of course highway 12 through kenwood and a lot of local street closures through the area. We know that when we take care of the earth, the earth also takes care of us. And winds 25 to 43 Miles Per Hour right now. The winds are holding the smoke in the upper levels, but by about noontime, you will notice that it will get the hazier and hot out there. Were hitting 100 in the inland valley, but noticing the fog. Right now Half Moon Bay, mist and drizzle in the 50s. Elsewhere well continue it sweat it out and wait for the typical weather pattern in the later days. The Sonoma County office of education has announced that Distance Learning has been canceled for three School Districts today, so they are when n bennett value, kenwood and ri nchn con valley. And countless homes have burned from the fires. Flames have jumped highway 12122 mandatory Evacuation Orders for santa rosa have expanded to include homes in the northeast parts of the city. Tens of thousands are without electricity after pg e launched a series of Public Safety shutoffs. Is this a look at the pg e outage map. The purple triangles indicate where electricity has been turned off to reduce the wildfire risk. As you can see, most of the outages are in the sierra foothills, there are also a few in the north bay. Pg e explained what factors it considers when deciding where to shut off the power. Exactly where the dry fuels will be and where the high winds will be. And that is problematic as it represents to fire safety. Pg e hopes that it can restore power for most affected customers by late this evening. Back up to the north bay, a dog in saint helena now covering from bad burns. Abc 7 spoke to her owner yesterday, she liveliveliveli evacuation zone. She said her dog escaped. Flame, we could see flames and we ran to the car and i was in my underwear, we left with nothing. The dog was found hours later and the vet is 11yearold dog. The Community Assistance Animal Response Team can help if you need help getting your animals out. You can call the number on the screen. Weve seen it so many times the past several years, these anxious m animals that get separated or get left behind. So hopefully people can stick with them this time around and get the help they need. Yeah, they feel like family to a lot of people. And i know that we are just hoping for the best for everyone that is up there, but i understand the forecast is not working in our favor. Unfortunately, it is not. And were still under the red flag warning and the heat advisory. And also the poor air quality it deal with. Right now with the gusty winds, that is holding the smoke at 3,000 and 4,000 feet. But once the winds dial back tonight, then we get the ash coming down and the hazy smoky conditions. Northeast winds from the shady fire, boyson fire and glass fire running fast this morning. And well continue to see the winds gust to 30 43mileperhour wind gusts. Yesterday they were up to 60 and 70 Miles Per Hour, so this is not as bad as yesterday morning. And it will continue to weaken. Were in the 80s in napa, but this is correct, 55 Half Moon Bay with mist and drizzle and fog. Un unfortunately, it will stay right at the coast. So were 10 to 20 degrees warmer this morning, not losing all that heat from yesterday. And near 80 degrees in the hills, gusty winds, relative humidity. You can see here just usually fires run uphill, they pretreat the dry conditions by radiating the fire to the unburnt trees uphill. But with the northeasterly winds, the fire is burning down the hillside. So that in fact is slowing the rate of spread somewhat. But look at these winds. Gusty winds through about 9 00, 10 00. And well be looking at the hot numbers once again today in the triple digits. Tomorrow a little bit of cooling, well continue the trend on wednesday. But the low clouds and fog pretty much going to stay shallow at the coast. Bay bridge toll plaza, metering lights are on. And now in the north bay, there are a lot of closures. Highway 29 is now closed between st. Helena and napa. Also in the area of highway 28 between st.
