It started with a traffic stop. Then an officer and a tow truck driver began feeling sick. Now investigators are looking into whether they and other First Responders were exposed to fentanyl. We are gathering information. Reporter we can tell you that seven people have been transported to the hospital. At last check, those folks are in stable condition. That is good news. This area directly behind me is an area that was closed off for much of the day. We are near the Marin Headlands north of the golden gate bridge. This was a hazmat area much of the day. They have opened this area back up. I want to go to video. Here is what happened. The california Highway Patrol says they received a report of a driver swerving on the bridge. When they arrived, the car was stopped in one of the northbound lanes. The driver was unshown koconsci. They drove the car to the first exit north of the bridge. That officer then got sick a short time later. He was transported to the hospital along with a tow truck driver and several other emergency responders. There was a white powder substance in the vehicle. That may have been fentanyl. Extremely deadly. It takes a very, very, very small dose to kill an adult human. This is something that we have to take very seriously. We have to be very slow and methodic in our investigation as well as the decontamination of the scene. Reporter narcan was given to those transported to the hospital. The first officer taken to the hospital who drove the car out of the area is now responsive. Back out here live again, just north of the golden gate bridge, you can see the officer in the distance. They have cleared this area. A Law Enforcement official tells abc news, two Los Angeles CountySheriff Deputies wounded in an ambush last night are in stable condition. The other deputy is a 24yearold man hit in the forehead, arm and hand. He is alert. Startling video captured the ambush. We are not showing where the shooter opens fire on the deputies sitting in the patrol car. He acted if he was going to walk past the car. Then he made a left turn toward the car, raised a pistol and fired several rounds inside the vehicle, stroking both of the deputies. The Sheriffs Office is offering a 100,000 reward for information leading to the gunmans arrest. The attack on the two deputies sparked strong reaction from Police Departments across the bay area which are calling for violence against officers to stop. We have the story.
