The 26th consecutive day of the spare the air alerts pretty much as long as the month of february. But bi, what a difference a day makes right here. On wednesday, the day none of us will ever forget, the day the sunrise looks more like the sunset. The eerie orange skies with the fog so thick that it trapped the wildfire smoke over the bay area. And then on thursday, you can see the San Francisco skyline completely encased in the gray and making air quality even worse. Stanford researchers explain why inlaling this toxic air can be bad for our health. Long term exposure increases your risk of cardiac disease, strokes, asthma exacerbations. And it actually reduces your Life Expectancy so increased mortality. Doctors position warning that our senses can sometimes be deceiving. We are looking at 244,000 acres in the north complex fire, and it has claimed the lives of ten people. The Butte County Sheriffs Office says the remains of seven additional victims were discovered yesterday. This morning 16 others are still missing. Within woman is frantically searching for her parents who are among those who have not been located. She fears the worst after remains were found. Waiting for the remains to be identified that they found in the same location. And i pray to god that it is not my parents. In fresno county, fire crews say that thursday was a huge turning point for them, for the First Time Since the wildfire erupted last week, firefighters were on the offensive instead of defensive, containment slowly inched upwards on the 175,000 acre fire. It is now at 6 containment. President trump spoke to Governor Newsom yesterday offering his condolences for the fire victims. And he also added that the Trump Administration will fully support those fighting on the front lines of the wildfires. And director of Public Health say they can allow businesses to reopen because of the local trend of covid indicators, down to 68 new cases a day. And the Positivity Rate is just over 2 . And as of yesterday, hospital lags patients were done to 65. And all State University campuses will remain virtual. In a letter to the 23 campus community, the chancellor tim white said that this is the only responsible decision that is available to us at the time. White cited a number of factors including wanting to give students and parents plenty of time to plan for the rest of the school year. And tens of millions of doses of fda Coronavirus Vaccine according to the health and Human Services sect retary alex azar. Some of the largest vaccine trials weve seen have been going on. Wake up tomorrow morning, air quality will be unhealthy once again, but it will improve throughout the afternoon near the coast. A new study says that eating out or going out for drinks during the pandemic is among the riskiest things that you can do. The cdc says that it tracked more than 300 people who were test tested. And everyone was asked the same questions about wearing masks, going to restaurants, bars, salons or gyms. And the cdc found that adults who tested positive were about twice as likely than those who tested negative to have gone to a restaurant in the two weeks before getting sick. Oakland Unified School DistrictFood Distribution 3r578g program is getting a boost. They have 22 grab and go sites. Look at station 7, they have put out candles and a sign fdny, 343, that is the number of firefighters from the new York Fire Department that were killed on 9 11. This year there will be no live reading of victims names. Organizers will instead play recordings of family members reading the names. Right now joe biden is in new york city for the 9 11 memorial and museums commemoration ceremony. This is a live look from new york city right now. He will also be traveling to shanksville, pennsylvania later today. And that is where President Trump will also be part the pay thing in a remembrance ceremony. It looks like Chuck Schumer and joe biden are arriving at this ceremony. This is just one of several ceremonies that will be going on across the country. Also senator Kamala Harris will be delivering remarks at a remembrance ceremony in fairfax, virginia. Right now well talk about the horrible air quality that is goi going to be even worse today. Here is a look at how it has changed. The picture on the left is from the end of august, the middle picture was orange day wednesday, and the one on the right is from yesterday afternoon. And it is not just unhealthy air. The wildfires are making it rain ash. And drivers were racing to get their cars cleaned up, this was broadway car wash in oakland. You put your windshield wipers on, yucky so yucky solid gunk. And correspond to driving. Com, ash mixed with fog or rain can create substances that are quite harsh to your cars paint and trim. The north complex is now the tenth largest fire ever in california and it is the deadliest fire in our state so far this year. And seven more people were found dead. The complex is burning north of sacramento. More than 247,000 acres have burned so far and it is only 23 contained. The latest reported deaths now bring the total who died to ten. And this morning 16 people are unaccounted for. At least 2,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed. One reporter went to a burned home in oroville and ended up speaking with the homeowners daughter. She has reported her parents missing. Is this your parents home . . Yeah. Yeah. Is there an aframe house to the left . That is so hard to see, hard to watch. Anthropologists will be helping to search for remains this week.
