The sky isnt orange today, which may seem glik news. But the air quality is actually worse. Today it has been mostly gray, even with the thick smoky hair everywhere. You can really smell it. Just weird days weve been having. And Spencer Christian is here to explain it. Yesterday we had the dirtier rticule matter aloft and we had the fairly substantial marine layer. It has weakened and now all that smoke is coming down and mixing in with the marine layer and giving us poorer air quality today than yesterday. Spencer is here with the forecast. The next few days, will it last . It will last. Im looking for that silver lining. In this smoky cloud. I would rather have warmer weather and cleaner air. Lets look at what is giving us this dirty air. Weve got so much smoke blowing into the surface levels. Yesterday it was up high above the bay area marine layer. Now it is weakened. It is pulling smoke, not only from other fires in california but oregon, right into the bay area. And this mixing with the marine layer. This is the result. Not only an ugly picture but really threatening to our health, this air quality is. So the current temperature readings around the area. 62 degrees in San Francisco. Mid 60s in oakland, mountain view, gilroy, and we see smoky dirty air over the entire region. Mid 60s right now. The temperature readings, the courage temperatures in santa rosa, napa, fairfield, 71, 69 in concord, 67 in livermore. And from emeryville, you can barely make it out. Fog and smoke will tip the mix overnight with paxy drizzle likely near the coastline. Poor air quality will continue through the day tomorrow. We have another spare the air day. And we expect smoky skies to continue into the weekend, although the smoke may thin out a little bit and air quality is likely to improve. So the air quality forecast looks like this. The spare the air with poor air quality expected in every single region of the bay area. We expect moderate air quality, saturday, sunday and monday. Thats better than what we have. Its not exactly good. Heres our forecast animation for the overnight hours. Well see it pushing across the bay. T looks like it will make a pretty cheer retreat after the Morning Hours and give us breaks along the coastline, well see it reforming. So tonight look for low temperatures in the mid to upper 50s under hazy smoky skies with of course fog and some drizzle. Highs tomorrow under hazy, smoky conditions. It will be cooler than average. Upper 60s around the bay. Upper 70s to low 80s in the inland areas. It will get a little warmer as we look at the forecast on saturday. Up five or six degrees. Then on sunday, cool to mild breezy at the coast on monday with highs reaching low to mid 80s inland. Mid 60s at the coast. So for the entire forecast period, you can see the temperatures will be in a moderate, mild range. No hot weather is expected. Well have to wait and see how that works out. I can only give you the temperatures. I cant do anything about predicting the air quality. It is hard to forget what we witness yesterday.
