Well start with the winds picking up across the north bay and also look at mt. Diablo 55 mile per homileperhour winds. These are conditions conducive to fire starting and spreading rather rapidly especially now through 11 00 and especially across the north bay and around mt. Diablo. Winds pretty fast up there and that goes through 11 00. Winds will back off a little bit but fire threat extended through 8 00 tomorrow morning and it does include more areas like the east bay hills and diablo hills and santa cruz mountains. We need to be vigilant today and also prepared in case something does spark and start. It will move rapidly and youre going to have to evacuate. Have that bag by the door. You will be exiting to get in your car and go, if needed. Thats what we have to plan for today. And thats just so sad. Temperatures 70s at the coast. 80s in San Francisco and 90 around the bay and even some 100s inland but that may be the last of the 100s and 90s go away for a few days. Ill show you that. Overnight new evacuations were issued for people in Sonoma County who live south of mill creek road west of west side road. Ab abc,7 new News Reporter Amy Hollyfield is live with that and the power shutoffs in napa and sonoma. Amy . Kumasi, we just got confirmation from pg e that overnight about 5,000 customers here in napa county and 17,000 in Sonoma County did have their power shut off. Pg e says it is doing this to be safe. They are worried about the weather conditions. They say its forecast to be dry and windy. They call that critical fire weather with a high ignition risk. They are afraid a power line could fall and start a fire. Pg e says that while this weather calls for being on high alert, it is not like the weather we saw in 2017 when the tubbs fire happened. This event doesnt have quite as much what we call as meteorologists upper level support with it. So, we dont anticipate it being as strong. Officials are also watching the walbridge fire. It jumped a containment area in the Russian River east of gurnville. Evacuations ordered there. They are just hoping the wind conditions dont pick up. 30 to 40 acres burned near hacienda yesterday. Everyone that was warned about the Public Safety public shutoffs have had their power shutoff except for those in kern county and pg e tells us the power will be shut down for them around 2 00 this afternoon and they are saying once the weather conditions improve, then they will head out and they will inspect all their lines to see if any damage was done. That should take about 12 hours and then they would be able to start rolling that power back on. Reporting live in napa county, Amy Hollyfield, abc7 news. All right, thank you, amy. Now, we want to tell you about the latest in the creek fire. Rescue operations near fresno under way right now. Jobina is at the live desk with the new developments we get within the last couple hours. A positive update here. Absolutely, julian. Yes, cal fire has rescued 13 people who were trapped on china peak. That happened just after 3 00 this morning. Cal fire says the smoke cleared up enough overnight for a helicopter to land safely. Originally, officials thought there were 14 people trapped but that was not the case. Those 13 people were safe and taken to the fresno airport and right now two other rescue operations were under way. Other helicopters in the air and National Helicopter to reach hidden lake and also another search and rescue bird from i believe the navy trying to get into lake edison. The winds are picking up as we speak. Hour and a half little more than that into this wind advisory and the north bay and diablo range and slow down just a little bit because the air is going to expand as it gets warmer this afternoon. But then look what happens once the sun sets and we compress that air and the winds are going to be even faster during the evening and early overnight hours for a look for the fire danger to increase then and then we wake up tomorrow morning and its just about over. Heres a look at the fire danger index and notice watch for the orsxnge f orange and the red. Thats the high extreme. Thats where we can see the stuff that amy talked about. The trifecta of the conditions coming together and look at that as we it heads to the evening hours contra costa and alameda and santa clara and quickly retreats back to the north as we head into the evening hours and you can see even during the overnight hours, that starts to shrink a little bit as the winds start to subside. So, weve got really today and tonight. And then things will start to calm down tomorrow. Across the board, look at these temperatures. Were up to 13 degrees cooler this morning. When you step outside relatively clean air and temperatures in the mid to upper 50s in San Francisco and pretty much 50s and 60s else where and 82 right now in antioch look in fairfield and quite a range this morning. Well talk about the dangerous heat subsiding and also coming up in the forecast. Cant wait to get to that. Thank you, mike. I have a few things im covering right now on our roads. All those headlights making their way further to the toll plaza and as we take a live look there. The metering lights came on at 5 36 this morning and you will experience quite a bit of bridge traffic once you make it through those lanes. Much smoother but semi slow ride into San Francisco this morning. Kumasi and julian. All right, stacking up there. Thank you, jobina. This morning a back to school speed bump for one bay area School District. One Elementary School was supposed to bring students to class today until a staff member tested positive for covid19. Lets look from the east bay hills camera and very hazy and very warm. 82 degrees up there. Lets talk about whats going on as far as your temperatures today. You can see already 70s, 80s and 90s by noon. 60s at the coast to 70 while the rest of us are in the 90s and 100s for the most part at 4 00 and still in the 60s, 70s and 80s at 8 00. The air quality you can see is green, good, or yellow, moderate. Those are all of our neighborhoods and, however, plenty of smoke to our east and that will keep us in the record 22nd today and 23rd tomorrow consecutive spare the air alert. Heres a look at your smoke forecast. You can see it sitting right on top of us this morning. Even a little thicker up across the north bay. But look at those off shore winds blowing a lot of the smoke away from us as we head throughout the day. The closer you are to the north bay and north bay coast the more likely you will be smoky today. Look how the winds tomorrow start to draw it up and stays mainly in the Central Valley and along the coast. And then look at that. By wednesday evening, were starting to see some much cleaner air compared to what we have been dealing with on the way. That will only get better and ill show you that coming up in the sevenday forecast. Kumasi . Thank you, mike. We have a little bit of a marine layer there and holding the coast right now. But as the winds increase today and blow from northeast to southwest, its going to blow the marine layer away and that will help you warm into the upper 70s, again. Enjoy those 50s and a little bit of fog you have this morning. Dry and breezy. Today heat lingers and so does the poor air quality and fire danger through tomorrow and then an average autumn is going to be in the rest of the forecast. We have High Pressure building to our northwest. To our southeast weve got an area of low pressure developing and that is the Pressure Gradient between the two and the flow creating this offshore event. That is what happens this time of year and the fire season heightens and especially during september and october. Look what its doing. This first touch of autumn 93 yesterday in denver and theyre expecting half a foot of snow. Can you imagine going from 93 to snow . Thats impressive. All right. Were still impressively hot, unfortunately in the north bay. On the peninsula, 89 to 93 today. Temperatures along the coast, look at those 70s but we still have the 80s along San Francisco, downtown or i should say south San Francisco and sausalito. 95 to 102 through the north bay valleys. But 70s at your coast. Upper 80s for richmond and berkeley and everybody else in the low to mid 90s along the east bay shore and inland not in the 100 and teens were still in the 100s today. Tonight well have 50s and 60s in the valleys. 70s and 80s especially in the hills and the mountains of the north bay. Talk about your microclimates even during the overnight hour. All right. Lets talk about what is going to happen tomorrow. Another spare the air. The 23rd. But the red flag warning is supposed to expire tomorrow and the winds will relax and that will relax the heat just a little bit. The marine layer returns thursday. Really feels nice. 60s and 70s for the bay and for the coast but still some 80s and barely some 90s inland and then if you look at friday through the rest of the forecast, were talking about 60s at the coast and 70s around the bay and 80s to just a spripglinkling of 90s. Until then be vigilant. Dangerous heat, dangerous fire conditions. Thank you, mike. He is back in the ball room.
