The lnu lightning complex in the north bay is 66 contained. More than 375,000 acres have burned in that fire. And some of the evacuation orders have been reduced to warnings in napa county. Lastly, the czu lightning complex in parts of the peninsula and santa cruz, its just over 40 contained. Over 85,000 acres have burned. State lawmakers and Governor Newsom beat a midnight deadline to extend a eviction moratorium. Julian glover is live to break all of this down for us. Hey, julian. Hi, kumasi. As you mentioned, this came down to the wire last night. The state moratorium with eviction will expire tomorrow on wednesday. Now we know the new protections in place for renters and will last through february of next year. 2021. Lets walk you through exactly whats inside of this bill Assembly Bill 3088. So, tenants are protected from covid19 related evictions until february 1st of 2021. As long as covid19 related hardships are presented. This had to have occurred between the start of the pandemic, march the 4th, through august 31st, yesterday. Now, moving forward starting today, tenants must. Gin paying at least 25 off rent due to avoid eviction and the bill states a tenant cannot be evicted for unpaid rent during this time. Relief for now but for many renters and Property Owners alike, this just kicks the can further down the road. Many rental providers have had to forego mortgage payments on their rental units. They had to defer paying taxes and also concerned that the longer the pandemic and the financial impacts continue on, then they might not be able to stay current on those obligations and they may lose their units to the bank. Just keep going back to the idea that the government itself told people to stop working. You know, like youve got to give people more time before you start evicting and foreclosing for not being able to pay the bills. Now, landlords can begin recovering their past due rent as early as march 1st of next year. That is month after those protections expire. More than 375,000 acres have burned in sonoma, napa, lake, solono and some evacuation orders have been downgraded to warnings. 1,200 structures have been destroyed.
