The lnu complex now the second largest wildfire in state history, surpassing the scu complex which is now the third. The czu complex, these fires have burned more than 752,000 acres combined. In tota the56ng thallom a conce todawith l at lst979 stry of them homes. Here is a quick look at just how widespread these fires are. The csu complex stretches across parts of santa clara, contra costa and alameda counties. The possible threat of new thunderstorms, as we mentioned, is a main concern right now for firefighters. Lisa, good morning. What can we expect . Good morning, liz, hi, everyone. Right now were picking up on some moisture out at sea. This is what were going to be watching. We need the triggering mechanism which will be what will ignite thunderstorms and lightning. Widening the perspective, you but weealngbory tpreading fires and those gusty outflow boundaries is what is of concern. So about a 50 chance of that. And throughout the later evening hours, well be getting into a better possibility of that lightning and isolated gusty winds. So looking at the possibility, but hoping that it doesnt happen. And these thunderstorms could fall anywhere from San Francisco up into the north bay. Right now its looking like the north bay is a little bit more likely than the rest of the bay area. A current look outside, a lot of haze and smoke. Temperatures in the 50s to upper 60s. It is 70 over the east bay hills, you can see the haze there, with numbers from the upper 60s. We had better air quality earlier this morning and things will be moving around with haze throughout the day today from the smoke, drifting into the east bay and south bay in particular. So well talk about our full accuweather forecast including the look ahead and when we expect things to change in a few minutes. All right, lisa, thank you. Pg e says theyre not planning a psps or Public Safety power shutoff today. In a tweet the agency said the situation doesnt meet their threshold. Cal iso says they arent anticipating rolling blackouts either, but as we all know, it doesnt hurt to prepare, theres always a chance of outages caused by the weather. Because the fires are evolving so quickly and resources are inn continuously updated list on abc7news. Com. The lnu lightning complex included some new evacuations this weekend. The fire has burned more than 341,000 acres. It is 17 contained. Abc 7 News ReporterLauren Martinez spoke to some of the residents who were told to leave. I have sprinklers on the roof of both my house and my barn. Reporter this residents neighbors above him on the ridge have already lost their homes. Its really hard. Its really hard to, you know, have to talk with them and console them and wish them the best and know that youre at any moment kind of in the same situation. Reporter fire engines including the Santa Rosa Fire Department were on standby for any movement. The main concern, wind shift and more lightning. The last significant storm we had in this area during a fire to go that long week ago, well now have potential for another one to stack on top of this one, is troubling and its a concern, especially with how stretched thin resources are. Reporter its the top priority in the lnu complex. This womans grandparents live in lake county. They took the pictures off the walls, theyre on standby. Its scary to hear that everyone is just kind of waiting. Reporter in windsor, residents like simone came out to see what conditions look like. She said for the first time, shes thought of moving out of california. Not being able to sell your home, maybe, in the future, because no ones going to want to live here, or not being able to get Fire Insurance for your home and for your possessions, those are sobering thoughts. Reporter her husband wanted to see the smoky sunset. He says its beautiful. From my point of view its just frightening. Reporter Lauren Martinez, abc 7 news. And earlier this morning we heard from cal fire, san mateo, and santa cruz officials about the ccu lightning complex. At least 71,000 acres have burned. Thats up from 67,000 overnight. And containment is now at 8 , up from 5 . But Officials Say a big concern now is looting. Cal fire says while one of their commanders was out yesterday working, someone broke into the commanders car, stole their personal belongings, including their wallet, and drained their bank account. Its absolutely disgusting behavior, i cant even frankly i cant believe that somebody would actually have the nerve to break into a firefighters vehicle or enter the vehicle to steal something from them when theyre there to protect the community. Honestly, it blows me away. Its something our folks are focused on as we go through this. Its very disturbing. Officials remind people it is against the law to be in areas under Evacuation Orders. And today, possible lightning strikes and thunderstorms are, as we mentioned, another concern for firefighters. I have a 50 chance, five zero, 50 chance, 50 50, that were going to get a direct hit on this fire area. Now, if we do get a direct hit from any thunderstorms, expect to see little to no rainfall, maybe a few drops, maybe a few sprinkles, not very much to affect the fire. If anything, youll see some abundant lightning, gusty outflow winds up to 50 or 60 Miles Per Hour if we get that direct hit on this fire area. Officials also say despite repeated pleas to stay away from beaches, there are still a lot of people who traveleder sheriffs departments plan to continue patrolling fire area the rest of the weekend. And cal fire shared this video from the middle of the czu complex just to show you what it is like, how dangerous it is to drive through a wildfire at night. Just watch this, you can see flames burning, trees and brush, right next to the road there. This is in santa cruz county. The third massive complex fire, the scu lightning complex, has exploded in size. A new Evacuation Order just came in a couple of hours ago this morning, south of welsh creek road, east of calaveras road in alameda county. We have a list of shelters online as well as Evacuation Orders and warning. The scu is now burning 339,000 acres, growing nearly 50,000 more on saturday. As we said, it has jumped to become one of the largest fires in california history behind the 2018 mendocino complex fire. The fire is still 10 contained across five different counties. All mandatory Evacuation Orders are still in effect there. 20,000 structures are threatened. And five have been destroyed. Governor newsom toured the scu lightning complex fire yesterday. He met with several first responders, he got to survey some of the damage both from the sky and on the ground there. And he also stopped by the world central kitchen in vacaville where Chef Jose Andres and his team and volunteers are there helping feed firefighters, first responders, and evacuees. President trump just approved californias request for declaring a major disaster in ten counties statewide. That means the federal government will provide money to help states, tribal, and local governments fight the fires. Residents from affected counties can qualify for housing and unemployment assistance. They can apply for lowinterest loans to cover uninsured property losses as part of this package. Cal fire Officials Say theyre start to go get some muchneeded help as well. Out of state crews have arrived and National Guard troops are days away from being able to join them. Were working through the training process. Its a sevenday process to bring on National Guard hand crews. Theyre being mobilized right now and theyll be available here in the next few days. We saw the glow start to come up over the ridge and it was so dark and smoky. I was calling them to come to me. Five of the horses refused to come. Instead they ran into a Burning House where they died. One horse named eva survived but is badly burned and has gruesome wounds. Ava is being treated at in fenc intensive care. In pacifica and half moon bay, due to the wildfires. Both cities are worried about potential problems that any traffic could cause for firefighters andth emerg parking lots are also closed and they are expected to reopen tomorrow morning. Lisa, it is just heartbreaking hearing all the stories that were now hearing about just the quick just this fire this week came in ahe possibility of more storms coming our way. Thats why were under a red flag warning through tomorrow. Moisture showing on the live Doppler Radar behind me. More coming perhaps later on tonight and into tomorrow. Youll notice a lot of cloud discovery over that is some midlevel cloud cover widening the view. As we go a little further to the south, a little closer to the coast here off the central coast, near santa barbara, and theyre also looking at some thunderstorms in southern california. They will have a little bit more moisture to deal with, whereas well deal with more of the dry lightning. As we look at the air quality, its been bad in the south bay, continues to be unhealthy where heats moderate, fremont, san if you were changing, with grou impacted in he coakland. You can see concord in the unhealthy category. So hazy skies continue throughout the day today. We are in between this high to the east, which is providing the hot weather in the east bay. The low to the north. The fog along the coast. And then the remnants of what was a tropical storm. That lifts to the north. And that provides perhaps the possibility of lightning, the dry lightning, and those isolated gusty outflow winds that come with thunderstorms. So we saw that last weekend. Wee. Any wind at all that were seeing can spread these fires. Were hoping it doesnt happen, but this forecast model shows some of the moisture and activity by Early Morning hours lifting to the north bay. Until these storms are offshore or being seen by radar, its hard to predict the actual path of them. And thats of course why well be watching them closely in the next 24 hours. Look at the skies here from our roof camera. 67 in oakland, 70 in san jose. From sfo, its gray out there with the air quality very poor. 71 in concord right now. And speaking of the east bay, you can see the sky here with the haze and smoke. Chance of thunderstorms late tonight. And looking at the possibility of the hot weather continuing. At least the dynamics for the next 24 hours will be out of here. Into tuesday, well be back into our regular pattern but its still going to be warm out there. Today, 77 in oakland, the warm weather in our east bay hills. Up to near 100 by the delta. 87 in san san san san san breezy winds out of the southwest, pushing smoke towards the north bay where we saw poor air quality. The spare the air alert has extended tuesday into wednesday as the upper level winds will be quite light and we wont get much of a push of smoke out of here.
