This is a house on fire on Wallace Creek road west of healdsburg. This was shot about 2 00 this morning and this is the walbridge fire, the one that cal fire even earlier this week was already worried about. It has burned 20,000 acres. They dont know how many homes it has destroyed, but it is all in rural areas. They are working hard to keep it from getting to neighborhoods. But firefighters say that they dont have the resources they normally would have for a fire like this because there are so many fires right now burning and they are stretched pretty thin. But they are working hard to protect healdsburg as business owners, as wineries watch very nev nervously. Were scared as hell. This is unprecedented times for us. Weve been in business downtown now for almost 16 years. And the last three have been absolutely horrific. Were trying to figure out how to run a business here. And good news is that we have fog here, relative humidity is up. Low clouds right along the city here down through half moon bay, san mateo and were looking at that smoke layer at about 25,000 to 3,000 feet. So it is above that marine layer well above it, and so that certainly isnt impacting that and we still will have the smoke over the bay area today as the low clouds burn back. 56 in santa rosa and were looking at the worst air quality here in livermore, unhealthy, a little better in san jose. And pretty good with the clouds in fremont this morning. Also were looking at gray conditions in oakland. Here is a look at the north bay fires. Temperatures in the 60s, the winds are light until about the afternoon when the fog comes back and we get that burst of some breezy winds. Warmest numbers in the north bay, mid90s today and tomorrow. So warm, but not as warm. And the rest of the bay area experiencing the gusty winds at the coast and elsewhere about 15 Miles Per Hour around the bay. Were watching this next system over the weekend to bring not only a chance of showers in to sunday and monday, but perhaps maybe a thunderstorm. But as for today, it is 75 in the city, 79 in san mateo, 93 santa rosa and 94 in livermore with a spare the air alert. And im seeing the smoke show up on my traffic graphics as well. And well bring you right to those maps because we are seeing new major road closures. Especially in san mateo and santa cruz counties. Full closure of 35 between 84 and state route 9. And also closure of 35 from 84 to state route 9. So we excuse me, i read that wrong. So a full closure of 84 from 35 to highway 1. Sorry. So many numbers here. A lot of closures. Bottom line, this area has been evacuated, so no one really should be in this area. And also closure of highway 1. And also here you can see the full closure of 9. And north bay, closure 128 between silverado trail and monticello. And then again all of this area in vacaville just shut down. So this is an evacuation zone, no one should be in this area. You can see the smoke overlaying there, so please be careful and avoid the area. Unhealthy in the east bay, but elsewhere moderate to good. That will change as the seabreeze kicks up. So well climb to the 80s and 90s inland. Well get to our fire coverage in a moment, but we want to talk about other headlines this morning. Vice president mike pence is responding to joe bidens official nomination at the dnc. During his speech, biden said trump has failed at protecting americans from the coronavirus pandemic. But pence said that he was proud of the president s response. When asked if he and the president underestimated the situation, he would not answer but he credited americans for recent drop in cases. Pence also said that bidens proposed plan would not work. If we had done what joe biden wanted to do, the losses would have been much more. It is remarkable when you looked at that speech last night literally everything that joe biden said that we should be doing on the coronavirus, President Trump has been doing from very early on. Trump and pence are expected to accept their nominations next week at the Republican National convention. You can watch the full interview on gma at 7 00 right here after abc 7 mornings. So you just heard mike pences review of the speech last night. Lets give you a look at it. This is a lifechanging election. This will determine what america is going to look like for a long time. He is laying out a detailed plan while also blasting President Trumps handling of the crisis. Our current president s failed. In his basic duty. He failed to protect us, he failed to protect america. And my fellow americans, that is unforgivable. And republicans model their c hold their Convention Next week. And abc news is the First Network to land a joint interview with joe biden and km. You can watch it sunday night. And they will still down with david muir and robin roberts. This morning San Francisco is still on the watch list. And that is because the city failed to meet two of the key requirements set by the state. Coronavirus case rates are still too high and there are not enough icu beds. So this is disappointing news for businesses who were hoping that they could reopen. Counties removed from the list could start to open hair salons and gyms and indoor malls. Well, we are still looking at the poor air quality. Temperatures will be warm in the inland valleys, what you would expect for late august, but not as warm even though were getting in to a warmer scenario as we get towards next week. But right now, low clouds and fog visiting us this morning and so that is a welcome relief. 61 in blackhawk, 73 Higher Elevations and that is where the smoke is well above the marine layer. You can see the fog here in pacifica, 56 santa rosa. So the air quality a little better in san jose, fremont with the fog there, looking good. And as well as san mateo. That will change as the seabreeze begins to push the plumes to the south and east. So as we look at the wind gusts throughout the day today, you can see along the coast, quite gusty, but at about 2 00, that breeze continues to flow across the bay, it strengthens, so by about 5 00, 6 00, well get strong winds around the fires. And that could make things a little erratic and spread the fires further. So as we go in to the rest of the day, the fog pulls back from the marin county coast, high clouds are with us throughout the afternoon. And 87 san jose, 83 in redwood city, about 75 downtown.
