Always great to start the morning with some beautiful music like that. Good morning, america. Great to be with you on this busy Tuesday Morning, george and michael. I thought you were going to say beautiful faces like george and i. But i guess music is better than our faces. How about that . We do have a lot of news to get to. Well start with that big night for the democrats kicking off the National Convention like weve never seen before, george. A Virtual Convention in this time of social distancing. The democrats theme is unity, we, the people. And the speakers spanned a wide spectrum. Progressive champion Bernie Sanders, highprofile republicans and the nights headliner, Michelle Obama, who delivered a fierce takedown of President Trump, high praise for the empathy of joe biden and an emphatic plea for everyone to vote. Mary bruce starts us off. Good morning, mary. Reporter good morning, george. Well, this was a passionate condemnation from Michelle Obama. She is one of the most Popular Figures in american politics and she came out swinging on night one declaring that President Trump is in over his head and warning that the crises facing this country will only get worse if he is reelected. Michelle obamas message summed up in the words spotted on her necklace, vote. Overnight, in clear terms, Michelle Obama breaking down the stakes in this election. Let me be as honest and clear as i possibly can, donald trump is the wrong president for our country. He has had more than enough time to prove that he can do the job, but he is clearly in over his head. He cannot meet this moment. He simply cannot be who we need him to be for us. It is what it is. Reporter the former first lady setting the tone for the convention and reinventing her famous motto, when they go low, we go high. But lets be clear, going high does not mean putting on a smile and saying nice things when confronted by viciousness and cruelty. Going high means standing fierce against hatred while remembering that we are one nation under god and if we want to survive, weve got to find a way to live together and Work Together across our differences. Reporter growing emotional, Michelle Obama with a call to decency. This is who we still are, compassionate, resilient, decent people, whose fortunes are bound up with one another and it is well past time for our leaders to once again reflect our truth. Reporter democrats kicked off their convention eager to show a united front. Its up to all of us to help make joe biden the next president of the United States. Reporter in a live address senator Bernie Sanders urged his progressive supporters to back biden. Let us be clear, if donald trump is reelected, all the progress we have made will be in jeopardy. At its most basic this election is about preserving our democracy. Reporter and in an attempt to show that biden can speak to all americans, the night featured prominent republicans too like former Ohio Governor john kasich who ran against trump for the republican nomination is 2016. Joe biden is a man for our times, times that call for all of us to take off our partisan hats and put our nation first for ourselves and, of course, for our children. Reporter democrats also highlighting the voices of americans impacted by the crises facing this country like Kristin Urquiza who lost her father to the coronavirus and blames the president. My dad was a healthy 65yearold. His only preexisting condition was trusting donald trump and for that he paid with his life. Reporter she made it clear this election will be a referendum on the president. This convention is unlike any other. Instead of an inperson gathering in milwaukee this is the center of the action, the cheering crowd replaced with choreographed videos and virtual speeches. Live and taped. Now, the president just responding on twitter to the former first lady saying, quote, somebody please explain to Michelle Obama that donald trump would not be here in the beautiful white house if it werent for the job done by your husband, barack obama. George, clear from the president s twitter feed he was watching closely. He is ready to go. Mary, thanks very much. Im joined by one of joe bidens rivals during the primary, the former mayor of south bend, indiana, mayor Pete Buttigieg. Mayor pete, thank you for joining us again this morning. You just heard the president taking on Michelle Obama and president obama also saying that joe biden is basically going to be a trojan horse for socialism after the convention. Whats your response . I guess when we go high, he goes low. Its not terribly surprising, but its clear from the message we heard last night where the character of america could be. Michelle obamas message was powerful. All the messages last night were powerful. The simple fact is that most americans are with us. We are winning for a reason. Doesnt mean were guaranteed to win. We got to put in the work. But this president is exceptionally unpopular. Hes losing ground and thats because right now the American People want a way out of the chaos, of the division and the simple incompetence that has characterized this presidency especially in this crucial year. You talk about getting to work. The core message of Michelle Obama, one of them was, people have to get out and vote early, go in person if you have to. It seems there is real concern there that these attacks on mailin voting from President Trump might be working. Absolutely. I mean what, weve seen is that President Trump has realized that if the American People vote, he will lose and instead of a strategy of trying to convince more americans of his vision, his strategy is for fewer americans. He says hes only going to lose if the election is rigged. That is an attack on democracy itself. Hes going to lose if more people vote for our candidate, which on todays facts is exactly whats going to happen. And since when do you preemptively call into question the legitimacy of an election that you say by definition wont be legitimate unless you win. You got to understand thats not just an attack on the democratic party. Thats an attack on america. When the president of the most consequential democracy on earth in the last 2,000 years does Something Like that, thats bad for democracy around the world and just one more reason why you dont have to be a diehard democrat to know that we need a change in the oval office and it cant come soon enough. Democrats tried to erect a big tent last night. You had republicans like john kasich speaking, Bernie Sanders speaking. But a lot of progressives seem unhappy with the highlighting of republicans like that. Is there a real tension there . How do the democrats solve it . Theres always going to be in our big tent a tugofwar, always going to be internal jostling. But lets be clear, our party was unified. Last night you heard from republicans, former republicans, all the way through to Bernie Sanders, all offering the same compelling message that weve got to vote for joe biden and Kamala Harris for the sake of the country. Look, we will always continue to have differences of opinion inside our party on exactly how to do things like meet the climate challenge and raise wages and get Everybody Health care and defeat this virus. But the question thats going to be settled in november isnt over exactly how to do those things, its whether were going to do those things at all and everyone in our party and a lot of independents and some republicans, frankly, most americans agree on that question. Finally the Trump Campaign also launched overnight a new attack and most direct attack yet on joe bidens mental fitness. How big a concern is that . The president of the United States marked it as a great achievement when he passed a dementia screening. Look, this is not productive territory. We need to talk about where the country is headed and the president will continue to try to distract us from that. But its a losing, failing strategy at a moment when americans dont need anything more than the confirmation of our own everyday lives and experiences to tell us that america is on the wrong track and we need change fast. Pete buttigieg, thanks very much. Thanks. Well have full coverage of the Democratic Convention at 7 00 p. M. Jill biden, former president bill clinton and representative alexandria ocasiocortez will be taking the virtual stage, george. Very different kind of convention. We turn to our abc news exclusive with the former top Trump Administration official who is joining forces with joe biden to defeat donald trump. Miles taylor was chief of staff at the department of Homeland Security. He now describes trumps presidency as, quote, terrifying and damaging to national security. Were going to talk to him live in a moment. First cecilia vega has the details on his stunning public break with the president. Good morning, cecilia. Reporter stunning is right. Good morning. Many other former senior officials have gone public with their concerns about President Trumps fitness for office, but this is the highest ranking former member of the administration to break ranks and endorse joe biden. He served as the Trump Administrations chief of staff in the department of Homeland Security for two years, and in this video released by Republican Voters against trump, miles taylor says what he witnessed the white house was terrifying. The president wanted to exploit the department of Homeland Security for his own political purposes. Reporter he says President Trump wanted to restart his family separation policy at the border. He said he wanted to go further and have a deliberate policy of ripping children away from their parents to show those parents that they shouldnt come to the border in the first place. Reporter and during those California Wildfires, taylor says the president told fema to cut off federal money to the state. He told us to stop giving money to people whose houses had burned down from a wildfire because he was so rageful that people in the state of california didnt support him. Reporter the white house quick to fire back calling taylor another creature of the d. C. Swamp who clearly just wants to cash in, and from the president s soninlaw look, miles was a nice kid. Clearly he wasnt up to the task. Reporter taylor, a lifelong republican, had some choice words of his own calling the president unfocused and undisciplined saying, he often wanted to do things that were illegal and in a Washington Post oped taylor said, quote, i can attest that the country is less secure as a result of the president s direct actions. Taylor also says the president bungled the Coronavirus Response with his, quote, cavalier disregard for the seriousness of the threat. He says top officials have been regularly diverted from important work to chase, quote, absurd executive requests, george. Cecilia, thanks very much. Lets bring in miles taylor right now. Thank you for joining us. Lets start out with criticisms, tw two criticisms from the white house, one, youre trying to cash in on your Public Service and, number two, Jared Kushner is basically suggesting you were fired. What is your response . So, george, first and foremost, thanks for having me this morning. Look, ill say this, as far as cashing in goes, in Donald Trumps washington, theres no doubt that doing this is going to be tough for me reputationally, professionally and its certainly going to take a hit at my pocketbook. This has nothing to do with money. This has to do with being honest about the president and putting country before party. As far as jared goes, look, he and i got along quite well during the administration. My point is not to slander anyone else that served under the president. My focus is on the character of the president himself, which is what this election is going to be about. What were the circumstances of you leaving the administration . Yeah, so i left the administration on my own terms. Ill be really frank with you about this, george. I left the administration because i got to a point where saying no was no longer enough. We were constantly in a position with the president where its not that he would just tell us to do things that we would say are inappropriate, unethical or illegal, its that he would continue to consistently tell us to do those same things. That was an enormous frustration and when i realized we werent going to be able to pull him back from some of these impulses, it meant it was time to go, so i left on my own volition. And look, ill say this, the administration offered up a number of jobs that in any other administration would have been dream jobs for me, but at that point i was done and i needed to leave. What do you say to those who say you should have left earlier . You were part of a family separation policy which you decry and publicly defended it and some progressives are saying that right now. Its not good enough. You should have realized sooner this was not something that could be saved. Yeah, look, im glad you brought up family separation. That was actually a policy that was developed before i took on my role as deputy chief of staff in the department before becoming chief of staff. Attorney general sessions announced that a few days after i stepped into that role and before then i had been john kellys counterterrorism adviser so not focused on immigration. That said, family separation was a mistake. How that played out is a textbook example of government wrong, government gone wrong and a textbook example of how this president has created an environment where bad policy decisions get made. Now, fortunately a few months into that when we realized this was the train wreck that secretary neilson had said behind the scenes this is going to be a train wreck, we got the white house to issue an executive order to put an end to the policy but here concern, george, every single month i served in that administration, after we ended family separation, the president would come to us and say, not only he wanted to restart it, he wanted to double down and implement a deliberate policy of ripping any kid apart from their parent has showed up at the border, any kid at the border. That was stunning to me. Frankly, it was one of the most disheartening and Disgusting Things ive ever experienced in Public Service and thats significantly contributing to me wanting to leave the administration. You said the president wanted to withhold fema disaster aid to california during the wildfires. What wildfires are you talking about . What happened with the aid . How was it communicate that it should be withheld . George, i wish i could tell you it was a onetime thing. Its not lost on me today were talking about California Wildfires because the first time we went through this was in 2018 and the president at the time would get into these phone rants with us, the secretary and myself, about jerry brown and how frustrated he was with brown and later gavin newsom because they didnt support him and he didnt feel like he had a base of supporters in california. So as wildfires were burning down houses in the state, the president basically said to us, i dont care, these people havent done enough to deserve it. Cut off the money. In fact, that phone call that i referenced with fema officials, the secretary and i were so concerned because we didnt want our Senior Leadership to be exposed to how undisciplined and tumultuous the white house was because it made it harder for them to do their jobs so after that call, fema officials said, what do we do . The president has just told us to cut off money to people whose homes are burning down. Our answer was, were not going to do it. Dont worry. Well go back to the president. But then, george, months after, again in january 2019 the president said he wanted to do it and again i think he tweeted about doing it. Fortunately it never happened. Fema didnt follow through on it because i think they ultimately determined from the lawyers that a tweet wasnt an official order, but this is what were talking about here, having to play whacamole with bad president ial decisions rather doing the work of governing. Do you expect more of your former colleagues to speak out now as we head into the final days of the campaign . So, i cant get into too much detail on it, george, but im going to tell you this, the president hasnt heard the last of us. In fact, me speaking out yesterday, you could think of it as an opening salvo and im not going to mention any other names yet, but the president can expect that in the coming weeks and months leading up to the election he is going to hear from more people who served in his administration and hear more of them give the same testimony i gave which is that hes illequipped to hold the office that he has and that a second term would be more dangerous than a first term. Youll hear that soon. Miles taylor, thanks very much. Michael. Coming up next, Ellen Degeneres, her new apology to her staff and the major shakeup behind the scenes. Right back with more gma. We have a lot of news to get to as well. Big night for the democrats. They kicked off their National Convention unlike any weve seen before, Michelle Obama was the headliner. Former first lady delivered high praise for the empathy of joe biden and emphatic plea for everyone to vote and a fierce takedown of President Trump and mary bruce has the highlights and the fall out. Good morning, mary. Reporter good morning, george. The former first lady came out swinging on night one with a passionate condemnation of the president. She declared that trump is in over his head and warned that the crises facing this country will only get worse if trump is reelected. Overnight in clear terms Michelle Obama breaking down the stakes in this election. Let me be as honest and clear as i possibly can. Donald trump is the wrong president for our country. Reporter the president hitting back, tweeting, somebody please explain to Michelle Obama that donald trump would not be here in the beautiful white house if it werent for the job done by your husband, barack obama. Making the case for biden on gma this morning, his former rival Pete Buttigieg responding to the president. Well, i guess when we go high he goes low. Its not terribly surprising but its clear from the message we heard last night where the character of america could be. Reporter now tonight democrats will focus on joe biden, the leader, highlighting his experience and well also be hearing from many of the rising stars in the party like Stacey Abrams and alexandria ocasiocortez. But the big highlighter tonight will be joe bidens wife, dr. Jill biden. George . Shell be in the prime time hour of 10 00. Well have full coverage of that tonight starting on abc newslive at 8 00 then well anchor prime time coverage at 10 00 eastern on abc. Robin . All right, george. I know i would and cannot wait for mariah tomorrow, robin, for sure. Now we turn to the latest on the coronavirus emergency and the battle over reopening schools. How to do it safely and whether for some communities it is just too dangerous. Joining us is Admiral Brett Giroir of the White House Coronavirus task force and, admiral, thank you so much for joining us this morning. As we heard earlier, the l. A. School superintendent has announced the most comprehensive Testing Program in the nation so far. But youre somewhat dismissive of the importance of testing compared to other Public Health experts. Why is that . Oh, well, thank you for having me on. Im not at all dismissive of testing. Testing is critically important and it plays an Important Role in surveillance, particularly going back to school. The only thing im saying is its part of a comprehensive plan. You have to do the things the Surgeon General and i always tell yourands is the core but, no, test something very important. Thats why weve had an historic increase in testing and point of care tests that will be very important to support School Reopening as well as Business Reopening . How much testing do you think that should be done in schools and when . So its a really good question and thats why we have general guidance and i think we all understand that the amount of testing you need to do depends on what the spread is in your community. So in general conceptually if you have a fair amount or high amount of disease in your community you may or may not be opening schools traditionally but if you do you need more surveillance compared to places that have a low amount of spread where you would want to do a low amount of surveillance or you could do that. And, of course, it depends on your children. We know that children from underserved areas have a much higher risk of getting coronavirus. Theyre not getting in the schools. Theyre getting it in their neighborhoods. So it depends and id love to give you an x expect answer but depends on your situation and thats why we want to work individually with School Systems and states to get the testing right for their situation. There is a new saliva test approved by the fda. You say its a game changer. Why is that . I think its really important. Youll see a couple more coming on. The saliva test that was developed by a group at yale and another one thats being developed by a group at illinois is basically spit in a tube. It does not need a swab. It does not need the special transport media. It does not need some of these chemical reagents, so it skips many steps up front. So it makes it much more amenable to be using as a surveillance tool like in schools or universities and preserves some of the reagents that are relatively scarce. So i think its very important and youll see a couple more coming on. I just talked to the university of illinois yesterday and theyre doing widespread surveillance at u of i. Using the saliva technique is juoo example of how it can be employed. Testing has been up and down. Where are we . Do we think that cases really are falling or do we not really know . Yeah, cases are falling and we know that is true. We have plenty of testing to know that. Cases are decreased about 22 since the third week in july and we know thats a real number because hospitalizations have also gone down 24 , so those things track. Right now were at about 825,000 tests per day. We had a slight dip. Some of that was due to just catching up on the backlog that we had of Nursing Homes and prisons. Part of it is, remember, we had the storm up the east coast, we had many testing sites closed down for several days but were ticked up about 825,000. We have the capacity to do almost 50 million tests in august and we believe that will be up to close to 90 in september. Now, how those are employed and the schools, diagnostics, hospitals, that depends on the degree of spread but weve got lots of Testing Capacity right now. Thats good to know. Admiral, thank you so much for joining us this morning. We appreciate your time. Thank you so much. Now to ginger. Hey, ginger. Reporter michael, there are at least nine large wildfires in the state of colorado alone. The images youre seeing there, thats one of them, a 12,323acre fire called the cameron peak fire north of denver. It is no containment. Has no containment. Mandatory evacuations in place and have one called the pine gulch fire. Fourth largest in state history. Plenty of heat but some moderation a now to our exclusive dancing with the stars announcement. Its been the talk of the studio. It certainly has been. Which pros will be spinning into the ballroom this season . Well, lets find out right now. Flip, dips, and, man, can they move their hips. Where do you keep that trophy typically not always in between you . I keep this it is always in between us. I keep this in every room that sasha is in. Literally follows her around everywhere. Its in the bed between you . Is there what between us . In the bed between you . Yeah, that and ruby but i keep it in the living room when everybody walks in, there is a space right there. I put a mirror behind it so everybody that comes to the house can see it. Im the mirror ball champion. Not for long. And i know you guys are theres some changes, new rule this season. You guys are going to be competing against each other but because of covid protection youre not going to be able to live with each other. How is that going to work out . Its going to be bliss. I mean its going to be terrible. Its going to be really bad. Its going to be so different because we cant actually interact and even prep with each other which is something completely different. But were doing everything we can to keep it safe. I know it will be fun. A lot of facetiming and naturally its me that has to move out of the house because sasha, he plants our garden, he is obsessed with watering and i would kill all the plants so it has to be me that leaves. Its funny. When the producers told us wed live separately, this one had a smile on her face. I laughed because i didnt understand what they were saying. I was so confused, but, yeah. And, guys, i know in the past the pros have been able to stop by and help one another. Obviously thats not going to be able to happen this year. Do you think that will help or hurt you . What do you think . I mean, you know, being on the season for so many years, we kind of know the equations and strategies, but i am a great you just flip flop. Hes got it in the bag. Its fine. You have your mirror ball trophy there. Sasha, is this your year . Is this your year . Its been my year every year. It could be. Fingers crossed. I tell you what, everybody is really excited. Were season itted to let you know our next guest here, golden globe, tony and emmy Award Winning actor and scored his fifth emmy nomination for his role in bad education. Good morning, hugh jackman. Thanks for being with us. Congratulations on the emmy nomination as we mentioned. Its not your first but interestingly enough your other big emmy win was back in 2005 for hosting the tony awards. You say that was particularly surprising. Why . I didnt know there was a category for that. When someone rang me and said you were nominated i said, i havent done any tv. And they said, its for hosting the tonys, oh, okay, so i presume i wasnt going to win. But i win and i was in l. A. And lo and behold i won. It was surprising so i have a little more headsup. The ceremony is re30e9 motor due to covid19. Whats your big plans for the night. I will be dressing up from the waist up anyway. I can promise you that. And from someone whos hosted a bunch after ward show, tony, oscar, i can tell you by the way i cant tell you who, i wish i could. I remember in the first commercial break and i looked down and two alist movie stars were pulling hip flasks out of their jacket pockets, the slim line and i was like, wow, thats how you get through these things so this this case virtually its just going to be like an aussie bar, just under the camera right in front of you just there. Great way to do it. We know you have a long running feud with your buddy ryan reynolds. He sent a congratulatory message but it was a little snarky. Have you checked on him since and how is he doing . I check on blake all the time. I cant imagine why this whole isolation has been like. Really, thats months. In the same house with ryan so i check on her all the time. She really appreciates that. I think its been very difficult for her. But, no, ryan and i, its you know, its like big brother, little brother and so i just keep trying to take the high road all the time. Its very difficult, but i just trying to teach him that, you know he wont list sfln this is called one of your most powerful performances yet this. Is the true story of the largest Public School embezzlement in american history. You play dr. Frank, the man at the center of it but you say you dont think of him as a villain. Why not . No, i dont. Actually thats one of the reasons i wanted to do this because hes human who erred. He went to jail and paid all the 2. 2 million back and he regrets it completely so i was more interested in how does that happen . How do good people, he was one of the best if not the best superintendent in the country, you know, devoted his life to being a teacher and then being an administrator in Public Schools, how do people go that far off . How does it happen . How does a culture somehow make things okay when we know theyre not . Thats what interested me. A cautionary tale that dont those could not be any more louder in the background. They really have no respect for you guys. Im so sorry. Interviews during quarantine. Things like that happen. Are youre at home. We understand and get it. Lets take a look. A 30minute 30second look at a clip of bad education. Here we go. Check it out. You stole from the schools and from the taxpayers, from the kids who were supposed to serve. This kind of behavior goes beyonds the bounds of immoral its cruel. Its heinous. Its sociopathic even. Sociopathic, what . Shameless selfinterest, the unstable personality, the parade of rotten marriages. Frank. And this apparently was your first time working with the wonderful allison janney. You two go headtohead throughout the movie. What was that like . Im so glad you showed that scene because if you imagine when the camera was on her my face was literally next to the camera for about an hour while she did that scene and i remember thinking, wow, i did four years of study at drama school and could have traded all that in for that hour. It was a master class. Shes so the ability to still be funny in scenes where theres tears coming down her face, the nuances, shes astonishing and she ad libs, shes open. Its just for me one of those great examles. Someone who was a broad way sort of staple. A legend on broadway for years before the west wing happened. It was a great cast all around. Weve seen the movie and youre getting the kudos you deserve as well. Another reason to celebrate. Wolverine is streaming on disney plus. 20 years since your first performance as wolverine. Two decades later people are still talking about your character. Does it surprise you . I remember so that was my first movie in america and hi two or Three Friends in the business said before the movie comes out the word is this is not good. Make sure you book another film. That way you got another shot. I remember hustling around l. A. Doing, you know, auditions for just to get something and goya got another film. I remember thinking, i got one more shot and when ka came out, no one knew that was coming. No one knew i would end up playing the role nine times. It still surprised me, thrills me and im so grateful to those fans, really i am. So theres a lot of speculation on who will take over the role from you so i wont ask you who you think its going to be. Not ryan reynolds. Not ryan reynolds. Thats all we need to know. Not ryan reynolds. We want to say congratulations on your nomination. And good luck, my friend. Get the bar set up right in front of the tv, i mean, and enjoy yourself because you deserve it. Congratulation. Thanks. Thanks, amy, thanks, michael. Love seeing you guy. You too. Bad education is available to watch on hbo and the 72nd emmy awards airs september 20th 8 00 on abc. Top ranked professional bowler gg mason leaving no pin standing and in her spare time gg is inspiring a new generation of young women in bowling. When i heard her story, i knew it was right up my alley. Gazmine gg mason. What do you want people to know about gg mason . I would want people it know that im a threetime olympic gold medal bowler. 25yearold gg masons got game. And is breaking out of her lane one frame at a time. Took a shot. Yes. Oh. What is it you love about bowling . Foe moore its my release. I love the way the ball comes off my hand. Actually if im striking im like, i want to keep doing it again and again. A lot feel basketball was my game because i played that in college. I was the state Junior Bowling champion in mississippi. I can still remember the headline, petite kegler takes state title. Got over a hundred trophies. That was my dream. So when did it become your dream to be a pro bowler . Growing up i did Everything Else besides bowling and it wasnt until i got in college and i was just like, okay, this is something i want to do. Reporter it was with her un ofebsk where gg stted her thriving career. Entering the pro bowl circuit in 2019 ranking in the top 35, her rookie year. Brings back memories. Reporter always up for the challenge i dusted off my bowling shoes to see if i still got it n a friendly faceoff, it is pro bowler gazmine gg mason versus me, the former nizamutdinov junior state Bowling Champ. Strike, yeah. Oh reporter even when shes hitting all those strikes, gg leads with a Bigger Mission in mind, she launched black girls can bowl 2 in 2017 after witnessing a lack of representation in her sport. I just didnt see anyone of color for the junior team or the adult team like combined and i didnt envy anyone who made it. I was very happy for them but i was just frustrated because im like, theres nobody up there who represents whey look like. Who knows if hi a gg, if i when i was coming along if i saw a gg out on the tour, would that have inspired me to continue . Someone tagged me in a post the other day like a father, it was his daughter and she had her like poster and watching and i happened to be on tv and they like my strike song. They just like make me feel like doing exactly what im supposed to be doing. Oh where is my strike song . 239. Nice. 23 12k34r9 thank you. 239. I did not bowl 239. But di have a great time with gg at spare Time Entertainment in bristol, connecticut, not far from my home. So glad theyre finally able to open again and thanks to diane and her staff gg is working tirelessly to bring more exposure to the sport. While her medals came from ioc competitions bowling is still not an official olympic sport and gg hopes to change that pushing for bowling to be considered alongside more traditional sports like football, yeah, but, you know, bowling is extremely popular, guys. 69 million americans hitting the lanes at least once a year. 69 million. I remember growing up, robin. My mom was in ray Bowling League. My sister was in ray Bowling League and love ggs story but i love the fact that we found out you were really the state Bowling Champ in mississippi. R . Ive been telling you this. You didnt believe me . Thats why we had to dig up this we got the proof in this article. And let me tell you i believe thats the last time i was referred to as being petite but ill take it. It was a great time but gg is a marvelous young woman on the pro tour. They dont have it this year because of covid. Shes been working really hard and bringing exposure and just wants everybody to know it is a great sport for all. I should have known your mom was a bowler. You gave her a run for your money. Your form is on point. Im not messing with you. Thank you. I had a 144, not bad. Cobweb, not bad but lets go bowling, guys. Amy. [ barking ] back with bestselling author, celebrity preacher now chad veach has a new book, help, i work with people. Congratulations on the book. You say this is for everyone, not just businesspeople and you say being a leader charts with leading yourself. Tell us more. Well, yeah, i think all of leadership has to do with me first, you know, id love to play the blame game and say theyre the problem and so and so and theyre the issue, but, you know, the common denominator in all my relationships is me. If i learn how to lead myself really well leading others is really, really easy. The whole book is for everybody. Stayathome mom, somebody who leads a corporation because all of us have leaders and have a certain amount of influence. Im excited for people to pick up a copy and read this book. Do you use the principles with your four kids . Yeah, you know, theres a whole section on manners, on people skills and im really trying to work with my ive got a 2, 4, 6 and 8yearold. Who do we appreciate, mom and so im trying to teach them, you know, manners and saying please and thank you and looking people in the eyes and, you know, waiting your turn to talk, oh, man f. We can get that one down well do well in our house but a lot of people skill, i want to raise kids that are confident and really relate well with others. And, chad, i know youve got all of those kids at home, on line learning. Have you been able to take those skills and become a teacher of sorts . Yeah, no one told me that the hardest part of covid for me was going to be being a homeschool teacher. First day of first grade, first day of tk and its amazing sitting in front of a computer on zoom with their sclas. I cant sit in front of a zoom for 30 minutes. Theyre doing it for four hours but, yeah, were doing our best at our house, again, shoutout to their mother who is the queen and the boss and taking care of all of it. In the book you do write about the power of becoming a people person. Youre a people person but thats kind of tough in a time of covid so what advice do you give for folks stuck at home who want to maintain their people skills . Well, yeah, i think so much of communication is body language. Its not just what we say or how we say it but its our body. So, you know, yesterday i was on a zoom and a guy was talking. He was saying some really good things so i didnt just hold myself still. You know, i tried to agree and nod and be expressive because i think, you know, relating with others, making people feel comfortable, we use this term being a nonanxious presence, that can still scream through a screen so i think we can work on people skills on facetime, on whatever video, on ig live that, you know, now its through technology but its still relating with others.
