Love to hear it and we do say good morning, america, and its great to be with you on this historic wednesday morning. Joe biden announcing that groundbreaking choice, tapping his former rival, senator Kamala Harris, to be his running mate and in a sign of the times, amy and t. J. , notified the senator on a zoom call as you can imagine. Right now harris is the only sitting female black senator, and now she will become the first woman of color ever nominated for Vice President by a major party. Harris is only the third woman to accomplish this feat. We are going to speak with senator Amy Klobuchar in just a few moments about this historic decision but first lets go to mary bruce with more details from washington as senator harris and Vice President biden get ready to make their first public appearance together since the big announcement. Good morning, mary. Reporter good morning, amy. Well today we will see the biden harris ticket together for the first time and witness something weve never seen before in our countrys history. This is a moment of huge significance for women and women of color, especially young women. Kamala harris today speaking out as the first black woman and the first asianamerican to be tapped to be Vice President. After months of speculation, joe biden over a video chat asking senator Kamala Harris to join the historic ticket. Biden then breaking the news in a tweet, celebrating his former rival as a fearless fighter for the little guy and one of the countrys finest public servants. Harris responding saying, joe biden can unify the American People because hes spent his life fighting for us. Im honored to join him as our partys nominee for Vice President. Harris is now the first black woman and the first asianamerican on a Major Party Ticket and only the third woman to be chosen for Vice President. I believe in joe. You know, one of the things that is so reflective of his personality is when he says there is room for everyone. Reporter biden has said he was looking for someone to be his joe biden, to have a relationship like the one he had with former president obama. One of the things i learned is that no president in the 21st century can handle the job by themselves. Its just too much that lands on your plate. Reporter former president obama said, by choosing senator Kamala Harris as americas next Vice President , hes underscored his own judgment and character. This morning, the other finalists are praising the pick. Former u. N. Ambassador susan rice calling harris a tenacious and trailblazing leader. Senator Elizabeth Warren saying, she is an inspiration to millions of women who see themselves in her. And from congresswoman val demings, to see a black woman nominated for the first time reaffirms my faith that in america there is a place for every person to succeed no matter who they are or where they come from. But it wasnt long ago that harris was bidens fierce opponent. At the first primary debate, she took biden to task for working with segregationist senators to oppose School Busing policies in the 1970s. Its a mischaracterization of my position across the board. I did not praise racists. That is not true. Do you agree today that you were wrong to oppose busing in america then . Do you agree . No. I did not oppose busing in america. What i opposed is busing ordered by the department of education. Thats what i opposed. Reporter harris later reportedly said that was all politics. Biden clearly willing to look past it. Two weeks ago a sign of what was to come. Photographers catching a glimpse of bidens notes at a press conference. The First Talking point about harris, reading, quote, do not hold grudges. But President Trump and his campaign are eager to dwell on that moment. Shortly after the announcement, trump went on the attack. Plus, she was very, very nasty to one of the reasons that surprised me, she was very disrespectful to joe biden and its hard to pick somebody that is that disrespectful. Reporter but now harris is poised to turn those famous debate skills on mike pence. They are set to debate in just two months, and while the president is eager to cast harris as a radical and far left, trump himself used to support her. Before running for president , donald trump donated 6,000 to harris campaign. T. J. . Thank you so much, and this groundbreaking choice is echoing across the country this morning. She is a former president ial candidate and was a standout in several highprofile Senate Hearings so in a lot of ways already a National Figure and rachel scott is outside the senators home in washington and like we say shes already a National Figure, but shes still about to reintroduce herself in a way on an even bigger stage, rachel. Reporter t. J. , good morning. Thats exactly right. As one voter who gathered here overnight put it, regardless of your politics, this is monumental, but senator Kamala Harris is no stranger to making history. The daughter of indian and jamaican immigrants she was born in california, a child of oakland. My mother was one of the greatest sources of inspiration in my life. I was taught that i had a responsibility to be a part of the fight for justice. Reporter the Howard University graduate became the first black woman to be elected District Attorney in San Francisco. After her inauguration she said her office was totally empty except for a chair in the middle, writing in her autobiography, i was happy to take my seat. As a young District Attorney, i walked into the courtroom for the first time and said the five words that would guide my lifes work, Kamala Harris for the people. Reporter harris was the first woman to serve as californias attorney general becoming Close Friends with joe bidens late son beau who held the same post in delaware. I got to know joe through beau because youve never seen its a rare thing to see such a special relationship between a father and his son. Reporter the prosecutor turned legislator gained National Attention for her pointed questions at Senate Hearings. Attorney general barr, has the president or anyone at the white house ever asked or suggested that you open an investigation of anyone . I wouldnt i wouldnt yes or no . Could you repeat that question . Reporter but faced tough questions about her record. When you had the power, why didnt you try to effect change then . Reporter struggling to keep momentum after she launched her president ial bid in oakland. Whats up, oakland . We want a president who has the ability to unify our country. Reporter now joining her former rival, joe biden, as the first black and asianamerican woman on a Major Party Ticket. And this historic announcement is generating a lot of excitement. Many voters who gathered here overnight said it was powerful to see the diversity of america represented on that ticket. But, you know, the big question is whether its going to be enough to spark enthusiasm and get the voters that joe biden needs to push him over the edge, robin. That is the question. All right, rachel, thank you. Joining us now is minnesota senator and former president ial candidate Amy Klobuchar. Senator, thank you so much for spending some time with us this morning. Thank you. We really do appreciate it. Always good to see you. I know that you supported that a woman of color be the vp selection by joe biden. Now, this is not only an historic moment for the Democratic Party but the nation as well. What do you believe that this moment means . First of all, kamala is my friend so ive got to look at it that way first and a lot of times when people run against each other, they grow farther apart. Sometimes people dont even speak to each other after, and she and i became Close Friends. We had a lot of fun together, and we grew to respect each other, and so i got to talk to her yesterday. She is going to be a wonderful candidate, but most importantly, a wonderful Vice President. In terms of the moment, robin, yes, its historic. Its historic because for so long, women of color have been as the movie once said, hidden figures, behind the scenes, building the rockets, doing the work, and then not always getting that limelight, and that changed yesterday when joe biden made this historic decision. I also think youre living in a time like no other with when you have the immigrants and the women of color, the africanamericans who have been so hit by this pandemic. When you look at the numbers, their rates of dying and their rates of being on the front line doing those essential worker jobs way over their weight, double, triple, quadruple in some of the states, and at the same time you have this National Movement over the murder of george floyd in my state, so all this comes together to make kamala such a great candidate and just we need someone with experience. We need someone who can work side by side with joe biden and truly govern, and thats Kamala Harris. What kind of challenge do you think that she poses to the Trump Campaign in this race . I think that she poses a challenge of being really smart and really tough and someone whos not going to take their grief and as someone who is going to simply do the work and go out there and theyre going to try to throw stuff at her. Last night instead of just welcoming her to the race, thats what leaders do, right . They say, look, welcome to the race. Thats not what happened with the president of the United States. He started calling her names, those names that he has used against so many women during his presidency, nasty and angry and those kinds of things. And to me, that just shows what kind of guy he is, but what you are now going to see today when joe biden stands with my friend, kamala, youre going to see what kind of woman she is. Thats someone of strength, someone of empathy, someone who loves her family and loves her husband. I think youre just going to see something thats going to make any attacks that donald trump makes against her just be washed away by the goodness of this decision and the goodness of our next president , joe biden. As you said, senator, there has been criticism already of Kamala Harris and many feel that some of the remarks have been sexist, something that you had to deal with during the primary. Yes. So how do you feel that that perhaps will be a factor in the coming months . I think its going to happen all the time. All of us have faced it. As i said at one of the president ial debates, if this was so easy you could play a game called name your favorite woman president or maybe name your favorite woman Vice President. You cant play that game because theres never been one and a lot of that is because women are held to different standards in politics, and a lot of things that people said seem innocent but a lot of times they really go at things that get in peoples heads. And i think the Biden Campaign has handled this so well rolling out this tremendous woman yesterday as the candidate. I dont think theyre going to let this happen. Weve learned a lot over hillarys election. Weve learned a lot when she was running for senate and then what happened to her when she was running for president. We have learned a lot, and i think you already see a whole force of women and men standing up for Kamala Harris and thats whats going to take. Again, i dont want all of that to lose this moment, not just the historic moment, an africanamerican, indianamerican woman on the ticket, but also who she is and the fact shes on the Intelligence Committee and has done ive seen it behind closed doors, not just in public. Shes going to be able to work on Foreign Policy the moment she hits the white house. Shes going to be able to work on justice issues with the work weve done together on the judiciary committee. All of her qualifications, senator, thank you so much. Well see Kamala Harris with joe biden later today for the first time together. But we appreciate your time as always. Thanks, robin. Amy. Robin, well have much more on Kamala Harris in our next hour. In the meantime, we want to turn to the latest on the coronavirus emergency. Of course douglas emhoff, the husband of nowvp pick Kamala Harris. Lets get to the latest on that decision. Mary bruce in washington with more. Good morning, mary. Reporter good morning, amy. History will be made when Kamala Harris joins joe biden, their first event together as a ticket. Kamala harris will be speaking out now as the first black woman, the first asianamerican tapped to be Vice President. After months of speculation, joe biden over a video chat asking senator Kamala Harris to join the historic ticket. Biden then breaking the news in a tweet celebrating his former rival as a fearless fighter for the little guy and one of the countrys finest public servants. Harris responding saying, joe biden can unify the American People because hes spent his life fighting for us. Im honored to join him as our partys nominee for Vice President. Harris is now the first black woman and the first asianamerican on a Major Party Ticket, and only the third woman to be chosen for Vice President. And senator Amy Klobuchar once considered a contender for the role herself, she later urged biden to pick a black woman. This morning, telling gma he made the right choice. We need someone who can work side by side with joe biden and truly govern, and thats Kamala Harris. I believe in joe. You know, one of the things that is so reflective of his personality is when he says there is room for everyone. Reporter president obama declaring joe biden nailed this decision by choosing senator Kamala Harris as americas next Vice President , hes underscored his own judgment and character. But it wasnt long ago that harris was bidens fierce opponent. At the first primary debate, she took biden to task for working with segregationist senators to oppose School Busing policies in the 1970s. Do you agree today that you were wrong to oppose busing in america then . No. Do you agree . I did not oppose busing in america. What i opposed is busing ordered by the department of education. Florida and georgia reporting their highest daily death toll so far. Lets head back to Steve Osunsami in atlanta for us with the latest on the backtoschool crisis there. Hello, steve. Reporter good morning to you, t. J. One of the things were learning is that this is going to be a very Challenging School year for School Systems because theyre going to have to change their decisions about inperson instruction as the information changes, as the numbers change. In cherokee county, for example, here in georgia, theyre having to make these changes at Etowah High School where dozens of students and teachers have tested positive for the virus. This now means that more than a thousand Staff Members and students are having to quarantine at home because of their exposure to someone who has tested positive for covid19. Parents across the country and this region, for example, are divided about sending kids into classrooms or keeping them at home. A number of different experts including associations that represent pediatricians and school administrators, for example, say that its actually better for children to have them in classrooms if it can be done safely and thats the challenge here, is safely. Back to you. All right, steve, so many parents facing that tough decision. We appreciate your report. Good morning, good morning welcome back to gma and we want to get right to our gma cover story this morning, senator Kamala Harris journey to becoming joe bidens trailblazing running mate. Linsey davis joins us now with more on the daughter of immigrants becoming the first woman of color to be in a Major Party Ticket. Good morning, linsey. Reporter good morning to you, robin. Of course, many people remember that moment when senator Kamala Harris made that big splash on the national stage, the debate stage when she was talking about busing and she said, i am that little girl, and today im mindful of all the little girls who are watching in this moment. Of course, many of the headlines about the history of it, but in the same vein, its also very much about the future and the inspiration that comes along with it. At 55 years old Kamala Harris is no stranger to making history. Born in oakland, california, in october 1964, shes the daughter of immigrants, her father from jamaica, her mother from india. She was all of five feet tall but if you ever met her you probably would think she was seven to ten feet tall. Reporter harris learned about race and identity at an early age. Her parents separated when she was just 6. Her mother raised harris and her sister, maya. The two grew up in the bay area, bused across berkeley in the 1960s. That experience proved a Pivotal Moment in the primary season of this election. You know, there was a little girl in california who was part of the second class to integrate her Public Schools and she was bused to school every day, and that little girl was me. Reporter she went on to graduate from Howard University, now the first graduate from a historically black university on a Major Party Ticket. After howard a career in criminal justice as a prosecutor, one that she defended when i pressed her on it during the abc news primary debate in september of 2019. But when you had the power why didnt you try to effect change then . [ applause ] so, there have been there im glad you asked me this question and i made a decision that if i was going to have the ability to reform the system, i would try to do it from the inside. Reporter in 2003 harris became the first black woman ever elected District Attorney in San Francisco. Making history again seven years later when she was elected as the states attorney general, the first black american and first woman in the role. While serving, she was set up on a blind date with entertainment lawyer douglas emhoff. The two married in 2014. He recalls the moment that harris first met his two children from a previous marriage when they were just 3 months into dating. Let me tell you about the Kamala Harris i know. She showed up to meet them wearing chucks and Jeans Holding a bag of a tin of chocolate chip cookies she wrapped. Thats the wearing a leather jacket. Thats the Kamala Harris that i know. Reporter in 2016 after a stint as california state attorney general, she was elected the junior senator from the state, the first south asianamerican and second black woman in the senate. I do. Reporter then jumping into the president ial race in 2019, making the announcement right here on gma. Do you have an announcement youd like to make . Im running for president of the United States. Thats a big announcement. And im very excited about it. Im very excited about it. Reporter the news of harris selection for the ticket inspired many on tuesday. Actress mindy kaling tweeting, for my black and indian sisters, many of us who have gone our entire lives thinking that someone who looks like us may never hold high office, im filled with hope and excitement. And then theres charlie, the 10yearold little girl dancing at the news that harris is joining the biden ticket. I was elated. I was overly excited. She represents me and that means so much to me. Reporter charlie, so representative of all the many young girls out there. She says when she first heard the news she thought that it was monumental and said i can see myself in her. How significant is that . And so while many of the pundits and politicians are talking about what Kamala Harris can bring to the ticket in a political sense, it seems that there is a significance beyond that this morning, robin. Yes, beyond that, representation, cannot underscore how important that is and the impact that it has as we saw with that little girl. Hey, linsey, couldnt help but notice in your piece you went back to the clip when you were moderating that primary debate last year. What did you learn about the new vp during that time at that moment . Reporter well, you know, shes a former prosecutor. I think that she can certainly hold her own on the debate stage, and that is going to be interesting to see in this debate season that is just about upon us, but what i took away is that she talked about in her answer, she said, was i able to get enough done, absolutely not. I thought that that admission as a politician was somewhat refreshing that she was kind of owning up to some of the back and forth that shes seen in her record as a prosecutor, especially as it applies to criminal justice. Yes, all right. Is it raining there . Whats going on where you are . Seems like the weather its raining. It is. It is a wet, humid, muggy day here. All right. Well, thanks for being a trooper and getting out in the rain for us. Take care. Lets have more now with amy and t. J. All right, robin. Thank you. In fact, joining us is yvette simpson, chief executive officer of democracy for america and abc news political contributor. This is all happening with the backdrop of the black lives matter movement, and we have been talking about this as a historic choice, but some are also calling it safe and conventional. Is it galvanizing for democrats . Good morning, t. J. And amy. I think it is. You know, so at this stage were still celebrating the fact that joe biden selected an africanamerican woman, an indianamerican woman on the ticket. When you think about the civil unrest that weve seen across our country this year with black lives matter, that choice is a really important choice. Kamala harris, who i know people were concerned about her criminal justice background, has been one of the most outspoken about the murders of Breonna Taylor and, of course, george floyd and so i think at this stage, a lot of women, especially black women, black and brown women are saying, let us have a day. Can we have today to celebrate the fact that he made this historic choice . I think it is a very important choice for black and brown people, particularly women in this country. I want to ask you, youre from the more progressive wing of the Democratic Party and there was concern that perhaps Kamala Harris was too centrist. How is she regarded politically among your colleagues . You know, she would not have been the first or the second choice among progressives, certainly Elizabeth Warren and Stacey Abrams would have occupied those spaces, but progressives are all about Racial Justice and representative democracy, and i think were celebrating that. We also see kamala as someone who will listen. She was progressive early in her career. She was endorsed by our organization, democracy for america, in fact, when she ran for senate. So i think shes somebody we think we can talk to and work with and i think progressives expect to have that conversation with her in the white house. You touched on this but ill let you expand on this. What is the reaction that youre hearing and seeing among communities of color for this nomination . Oh, my goodness, my phone, social media, ive been on call since yesterday. People are so excited. She went to howard. Hbcu folks are representing. Shes an aka. Im a delta. Im even celebrating it. Black greeks are excited. Black women ready to mobilize. The big thing we need to talk about is the wall of resistance that trump and his administration will get from black and brown and even white women if he tries to bring forward sexist and racist commentary which we fully expect and are ready for. People are ready. I think there was a concern if joe biden didnt make this choice that black women would feel demoralized and wouldnt feel excited about mobilizing and we know we need that energy going into november so im excited to see black and brown women ready to move forward. You know its a big deal. She has brought together an aka and a delta. You know its a big deal. Yvette simpson, good to see you. We got to work together. Good to see you. Thank you, yvette. Now to the potential dangers of what people are calling pandemic pods. Millions of children expected to stay home from school this fall, and some parents are actually forming their own inperson learning groups. Diane macedo has the latest. There he goes. Reporter this is an elementary level science class david benetti is holding in his backyard, part of a pandemic learning pod hes formed with other parents in his san carlos, california neighborhood. You realize our children werent absorbing the same degree of education that they were accustomed to and we wanted them to have. Thats when we formed our pods. Reporter benetti, an advocate for inperson learning now helps link parents and teachers who want to form their own pandemic pods through his free website, start normal. Things are really exploding. Now were getting calls from across the country. Reporter but inperson learning pods can be expensive. There is a concern with the pods in that they are creating educational inequity. Reporter and experts warn pods can increase risks that parents may overlook, starting with the size of the pod. I would not expand it beyond, you know, three to five other children. Realistically we want to keep this as small as possible because every other child means increased risk. Reporter all families need to agree on safe practices. Making sure everybody is wearing their mask, hand hygiene, environmental cleaning and disinfection, having space so that children can really stay apart or socially distance as much as possible. Reporter also, who is teaching . A background check is a must. Are they certified to be a teacher or are they just an adult youre hiring to bring in . If there is something that happens to a child because of predators in the home, those parents would be liable for that. Reporter and host parents prepare for additional medical responsibilities. You may have a child who has asthma, who has to take albuterol or a child who has an epipen in case of an allergy attack so someone has to be responsible for that. Reporter benetti says while its up to the families to do their own vetting and agreements, he does emphasize that this is only for low risk groups. Every family has to make their own decision and choice and we basically leave it up to the parents to decide for themselves. Reporter and experts say its crucial that families in these pods agree to communicate if someone does get sick and agree on what to do if that happens, and then of course, they have to follow through on those promises, amy. Very important, diane. Thank you so much. Were going to turn now to ginger. White plains, new york, to franklin, virginia, flash flood watches up. Weve already seen this video from just west of washington, d. C. , Manassas Park with the flash flooding. If you get a Flash Flood Warning today that means inches of rain is falling quickly. Dont get in the car. Thats the best way to stay safe. So from Southern Maryland through delaware, new york, new jersey keep an eye on that. [spoken] we are back now with an incredible comeback story in womens gymnastics. Chellsie memmel has a sixtime World Championship resume mark. Okay. Thats six times shes been to the World Championships, has those medals to her name and after 12 years coming out of retirement to chase olympic glory once again, this time as a 32yearold mother of two kids. Wow. All right, chellsie is joining us now. Chellsie, i was a gymnast for about six years and i cannot even imagine after having kids going back in, yet youre going to do it, calling your return to gymnastics a comeback. How does it feel . It feels really good. I was really nervous finally just saying im coming back, i want to make a run at this. Im just im super excited to see where this takes me. What do the two kids think about what momma is doing . They think its really great and are in the gym with me a lot and love watching me but a lot of times theyd rather just jump in the pit. They want to play themselves. Oh, yes. Thats what kids do, so what do you know now what do you know now as a 32yearold mom that you wish you could tell your 2008 olympian self . Right now i feel i just have better im more in tune with my body. I understand it more. I have a much better relationship with food and also just being a parent gives me a whole different perspective on life and on this journey. Gymnastics isnt the most important thing in my life right now. A lot of other things are too, so i feel just, like, much more well grounded this time. I was going to ask you about that though because i know how much you have to juggle as a mom. How do you get the hours in to practice at the level you have to practice at to be an olympian gymnast . Logistically its a lot harder this time around, you know, supporting a family and doing everything like that. I have a really great support system. My parents help a lot with my kids. My husband is really supportive. My sisters help a lot, but im also training much differently, not nearly as many hours as i was before, just trying to make each time and each turn up there, make that count. And, chellsie, weve seen some of the video that is still up thats been rolling here but youre there live and you can show us that you still got it. So what do you have for us this morning . I can. I can show ill show you backflips. This is pretty standard for a lot of gymnasts. Well, im impressed. Well, im impressed. Beautiful, wow. Chellsie, really we are going to be rooting for you and keeping up with you on your journey so thank you so much and good luck, okay . Thank you so much. Thanks for having me. Yeah. Can you believe were talking about this, robin . But we are, and everyone obviously encouraged to wear that Face Covering in person, so its not a surprise that etsy says it sold more than 20 Million Masks in the past three months. Yeah. Its also no surprise that people are looking for masks to express their style. Take a look. Reporter its a fad so fresh its making a debut rather than a comeback. Enter the Face Covering, the once plain mask turning high fashion by celebs like cardi b and billie eilish. Masks are a great way to enhance your outfits and express your personality. The most important thing surs wearing a mask. Reporter etsy reporting 133 million in sales for Face Coverings in april alone. The latest, craze a mask chain. Its like a necklace for your mask. It is so much easier to use and to have your mask with you when its hanging around your neck like an eyeglass chain. Reporter jennifers Online Jewelry business now selling out of their crafted chains. It was very exciting. We couldnt keen our own selling them off our necks. Reporter no matter your mask always try to make the most of it. And fashion expert Melissa Garcia is joining us now to put our best face forward with some great mask fashion. Thanks for being with us. I know to start us off you have one of the necklace masks we just showed in our piece. Tell us about it. Yes, good morning. Thanks for having me. So as you said, weve come a long way from those blue surgical masks, and masks are here to stay, so we might as well embrace it. Im wearing one of the necklace masks you talked about from second wind, a womens owned Small Business latino owned and as you can see, they have beautiful silhouettes and they also have these gorgeous, chunky necklaces which also function as a china to help keep them in place. We also have some other options from this same brand. They have some really cool chains and might look heavy. Lightweight starting at just 40. All right. We cant do a fashion segment here at gma without models and you have a couple of models apparently there with you, but this is all about kids masks fashion. Yes. So i woke two of my three kids up. I said, i dont know the last time they were up this early. Come be in the segment with me. So for kids, i think the biggest thing is letting them pick it out themselves and feel like they have some input into what theyre wearing. Harlow loves to match her outfit to her mask. Tie dye was a huge friend using this gorgeous tiedye mask and found the best come from the smaller etsy and instagram shops. This is from lana platen creative and personalized with an h. You can do other ones as you see on the table. Theyre really fun, really comfortable and machine washable. Then we have sam who is wearing one from top trends, and what i love about this brand is they have a ton of options. Theyre super comfortable. They have the adjustable straps around the ear. They have an as justabdjustabler it as well. Machine washable, so something here for everyone. We also by the way have some of our gma producers modeling for us as well and this next one im really interested in because for those of us who like to run outdoors Wearing Masks is very tough especially when its hot outside because youre breathing heavily so our producer tori and her fiance chad have options. Tell us about those, melissa. Yes, so just like you said, amy, when youre breathing in and out really hard the one thing you dont want is your mask sort of breathing in and sticking to your nose and mouth and you want to have a great fit. As you can see, tori is wearing this great one from athleta. It has their signature feather lightweight fabric. Antimicrobial and bridge on the nose which prevents it from sucking into your mouth while breathing heavily while working out, and then we have her fiance chad who is wearing one from under armour. Threelayer technology, really lightweight. Also antimicrobial and machine hes doing such a great job modeling and machine washable as well so these are the perfect masks to wear when working out. Okay, and now another one of our producers, cameron, who i must say is the first to volunteer for these segments. Were talking about guys. What are men doing for fashion when it comes to masks these days . Yeah, so for guys its all about comfort and function. Whenever youre picking a mask its all about getting the right fit and these are hes having a good time. I love it. These are great because they fit really well. Theyre from kohls, jcpenney, inexpensive, they have the bendable nose bridge with that perfect fit and adjustable ear bands as well, and they even have pockets where you can insert a carbon filter if you would like also. Cameron bringing his model a game. Zoe will have to live up to high standards. If you want sparkle which j. Lo is wearing as we see here, zoe is showing blinged out looks. Tell us about those. Yes, i recently got to catch up with one of the stars. We showed you that, Bryan Cranston yesterday, and we have another star from the one and only ivan, and that is ramon rodriguez. Youre the right hand of Bryan Cranston in the movie so on set, how much breaking bad was coming up . You know, he bryan is a prankster and likes to have a lot of fun on set. There were days hed come out of his office in the movie, hes got an office and come out and threw out a little heisenberg line once in a while. I know you did good recently in preerk a puerto rico a couple of years ago dealing with the aftermath of muhurricane maria. The two of you went on a bit of an adventure im told. He was kind enough to come down there. I had been working down there rebuild roofs posthurricane maria and the town we were working in is in the center of puerto rico where my family is. Theyre famous because they have i think the second Worlds Largest zip line so they invited bryan and i and some of the folks that were there with us and we threw ourselves down a huge zip line down the center of puerto rico. So that was pretty awesome. Lets turn to this movie for a second. A lot of people have watched you and maybe theyre used to you being this young crazy cat in some of your roles, but you got a little gray in the beard playing a dad so what is it like to take on this type of role in this type of movie where you are a sweet character. One of the things that drew me to the film was this special sort of dad who is an everyday hardworking dad. He works at the circus alongside bryans character, mac. He cares for the animals and helps with the shows but the relationship with his daughter is great. Its this beautiful father son relationship father daughter, rather, and he is a positive role model and figure, and, you know, he ends up having to make a really tough decision towards the end of the film, and i love this really sort of everyday hardworking dad and i thought thats something that, you know, i aspire to sort of continue to be, just a humble, hard working everyday guy and has a great big old heart and so it was a real special character to play. Really, and the movie has such a special message for all the children out there watching. It really is a beautiful movie, t. J. And i both watched it this week and enjoyed it. Basketball has been a big part of your life. You told us its one thing thats helped you during the pandemic. I understand back in the day your nickname on the playground was the last samurai . Yeah, back in the day when i used to play out in the courts in new york and some tournaments. One of my nicknames was the last samurai because i used to slice and cut people up on the court. It was a nickname by one of my friends, so that was one of the things i did, and during the pandemic as you mentioned, you know, in this quarantine whenever i can, ill go to the park when theres nobody there and ill shoot around. They recently took down the rims which is really disappointing but, you know, yeah, this was my life for a very long time. This basketball. Oh. Oh. This ball was very good to me. It took care of me and so im very grateful for what this thing can do and has done and put me in front of the camera guys. And now im in front of you guys. That was impressive and seamless. You do your thing. We had no idea. Ramon, really good to see you. Love the movie and hope to see you again, my man. Thank you, man. Thank you for having me. Clark gregg, mingna wen saying goodbye to their characters after seven seasons on the beloved season, the finale is hours away, and they are here with us live. Good morning to you both. Clark, a lot of people are familiar with you and the agents, the ties to the marvel universe but i didnt realize its been nearly a decade, im told, since your character was actually in a marvel movie. Are you dying for a reunion with some of those superheroes . I mean, i am. The truth is ive had so much we had done 136 episodes of this show since then and actually they did kind of an origin piece about phil with sam jackson younger in captain marvel two years ago, so i dipped my toe in. I miss those guys but we had a good run. How about you, ming . Is there an adventure youd like to see your character meet . Oh, gosh, i think shes friends with black widow and, of course, she knows fury, so any of those guys would be great and thor. Got to throw in chris hemsworth. Ill agree. We have a sneak peek. Lets take a look at the finale right now. Im wondering if we change the timelines or if they change us. The woman i know would never ask these philosophical questions. Which is the point. How did i become this me . I dont know, but i like this you, and if im completely honest i like this me as well. And, ming, i think i have it right. You wrapped this shooting this quite a while ago so this has been a long goodbye tour, but this is kind of the day, so how does it feel to say goodbye to this character . Well, its definitely difficult when youve played a character for seven, eight years and youve been with a group of people that youve enjoyed playing i mean not playing, working with and playing with. Its tough. You know, its like losing a part of yourself and losing a good friend, i think. Yeah, clark, how do you feel about saying goodbye . Whats it been like . This is a character who was killed off in the avengers, and there was a fan movement called coulson lives which i was completely moved by and then people at abc and marvel listened and the show only exists because we had this incredible fan base and weve hung out with them at comic cons and events and between the family we have on the show and that family of the fans its been really one of the great experiences ive ever had. Just a quick one. What are you going to miss most about each other . Clark, quick, what are you going to miss . Just to show up and get to act with ming is one thing. To get to be involved in a fight scene with her because shes a full on ninja is amazing. The great thing about ming she can be grinding at 6 00 a. M. For having worked an hour or two and already a little burnt out and all of a sudden youll hear this, people dont know this because her character is taciturn and serious, you hear this incredible laugh echoing out of the parking garage and it means mings arrived and i really miss that. I have to call her up and get that laugh sometimes. Ming, you got to give me a quicker response. One word. What will you miss about him . Oh, one word. Two, three. Okay. His hes his effervescent just like, you know, personality. I mean i dont know. One word . We got to l people are looking for change, for answers. One answer is at your fingertips, the 2020 census.
