Accuweather sevenday forecast. Heres reggie. Thanks, mike. All this week abc7 news taking a closer look at education and how School Districts are handling going back to school. The San Jose Unified School district says teachers will be required to actually teach from inside the classroom even though no one else will be in that classroom. Abc7 News Reporter Julian Glover is live with the details on this one. Julian. Boy, good morning, reggie. A big blow to the 1,600 teachers that teach in the San Jose Unified School district. They will not be given the option. They will be required to teach from inside their empty classrooms with their students continuing to learn remotely at home. This is the only district within the entire state of california opting for this requirement. The School District and Teachers Union announced the agreement late monday. Now at a recent school board meeting, the district superintendent Steven Mcmahon said teachers from teaching inside the classroom will give the faculty working technology and readily available support. The district is being slammed on facebook by current and former educators in the district who are outraged that teachers will be placing themselves in harms way reporting to the School Building daily with lots of other teachers and teachers dont have long to plan either. We know the san jose School District starts next wednesday. Eight days from now giving teachers very little time to figure out child care. Our News Partners the mercury news is reporting that teachers will be allowed to bring their schoolaged child with them in the classroom so they can learn while their parents teach. Reporting live this morning, Julian Glover, abc7 news. Julian, thank you. For many bay area families a new school year will look like nothing theyve seen before. Most districts are opting for Distance Learning because of the rise of covid19 cases. Teachers tell us this new method of instruction will rely heavily on who is at home with the student. And today on abc7 news at 4 00, hear from students, parents and educators on the new reality we find ourselves in as our children head back to school. Many students and teachers have a lot of questions about this. We created an interactive map that details each School District start date and Distance Learning plan and plan to safely return to campus. You can check it out on our website abc7news. Com.
