So heres the first question. Americas got about 99 days to make a decision on who they want to be our next president , right . So what do you think people should be paying attention to right now . I think theres, you know, elections at the end of the day come down to, should you stay the course or should you make a change . And i think that, you know, who is presenting an agenda that is prospective to the future, and i think if you look at the last three or four weeks, one of the things i take away, people are look at the president ial stuff, the virus and whats going on in seattle, and i think joe bidens done a great job laying out a comprehensive agenda to the future, something donald trump hasnt done. The second piece is to the character, the competence and the capabilities of the two individuals, and ive worked closely obviously with joe biden, and i think he has exactly what it takes to both bring america together, stop looking for things that we disagree on and start finding and identifying the things we agree on, to project to that future, and i think that stands in direct contrast to what President Trump has done, and i do at the end of the day, i used to say this to president clinton and president obama. If we knew in the first year of the first term what we knew by the first year of the second term, we would be really geniuses, and nobody is really total totally prepared for the presidency, but president s like George Herbert walker bush, they have the best on the job training to understand the magnitude of the challenges, the power of the office and the ability of that microphone to bring americans and find common foundation. In this time, were really kind of tearing ourselves, that somebody that brings us together, and sees a future and drive towards that and bring everybody together, thats what i would look at. He can do any 180 change he wants, but thats not going to change peoples perceptions. They have a view. He mishandled this, and they see that, and let me say this. If you look at his numbers, take a look at the Governor Abbott in texas who is riding high. Mishandled that, dropped. The governors that are handling the virus well looking and working hard at it, theyre rising in the polls and i think that tells you something. I dont think they can handle changing peoples perception, and i will say one other thing, you know, this is not the first time he flipflopped. On the other issue he said at the beginning of this he was going to be a wartime president. This is not how you prepare the country, all in on battling Something Like this. So i think on everything, the die is cast. Second thing, i think the American People also have passed a judgment, the way he is handling both the economy as well as whats happening on the streets across urban america. Hes being the force, you know, they look for a president to actually be somebody that solves problems, not the source of problems, and right now he is being seen as the generator of problems, not the generator of solutions, and that is continuing to erode and undermine where he is, and donald trump cant get out of to his own way as far as and to his new press conferences, i would just say this. If you are going to do two hours, mr. President , and youre listening, please do three because i want the American People to have more of donald trump. I mean, really. Do you think at this moment that whats missing for his kind of political survival is what people dont have at this point is more of donald trump . And so hes his own worst enemy at this point, and i think thats going to be the problem for him, and i do think as i said earlier, this election is either change or status quo, and thats why hes flipflopped. Rahm, i dont disagree with that, but that being said, the Biden Campaign has reportedly declined another Fox News Sunday interview with chris wallace. This is obviously on the heels of Chris Wallaces now Infamous Trump sitdown a few weeks ago. Chris wall leace said hes goino ask every week. I think biden needs to sit down with everybody, and i think hes possibly not going to do the debates and not do any sitdown interviews with the journalists that are not as friendly and i think thats problematic. Do you think he can do that or do you think he can stay in his home during election day . On the disagree part, i would say he hasnt sat down. He has laid out a robust, prospective agenda. Second is, you should sit down with journalists. They should be given the opportunity to ask you the questions, and i do also think that is a actually in my view, the format the Vice President has shown to be very welcoming to that format and shines in many ways. Now who they pick to do it, how many times they pick to do it, thats up to them, but i think theyve actually, and now this is on the tactic part. I think theyve made this election a pretty good election of trump is not womening thinning that. Theyve dpgone out, made speech on climate change, and receded and let donald trump take more of the air time and views and thats actually hurting trump. But i do think theres going to be moments in time in the next 99 days that they should sit down with journalists and do a oneonone because that has been a format that actually accentuates i think bidens compassion and strength, and it is at the end of the day, its not just policy. Though the ideas are value, but theres a compassion to him, and an empathy to him that only in that kind of setting can come forward, and i think thats a strength, and theyll make that decision. If you go back to florida in 2000, right now with donald trump, thats going to look like a walk in the park and that held us up for 45 days and given the divisions and given the exasperations he has had, and the illegitimatesy he places on the electoral process, i would look at if you look at whats happened in some of the primaries, start pushing that we start could wantinting those bad votes as they start coming in, not waiting for election day to be over because that threeweek, twoweek, whatever time frame of uncertainty, donald trump will use to exacerbate peoples doubts about the process and the results, and at a time in which we have big challenges, i dont want the American People to doubt the fundamental legitimacy of an electoral the outcomes of an election. So that would be something besides vote by mail and other aspects. I would make sure we start changing the way, when and how we count those ballots because i think any doubts after the election are not going to be good for bringing the country together, and i think we all have to have our guard up, regardless of democrat, republican, whoever you want to vote for. We have enemies in the world. China, russia, north korea, they are trying to undermine america, and we should be careful in that process and make sure that our systems are up there to protect the integrity of the election. It would help if people sent in their mailin ballots by october 20th also, and not wait too long, correct . Not only send it in early, but also then the system, running the process should immediately start counting them. They dont normally count until after right, right. And then, you know, we look. Donald trump is being clear. Whats our response to that . He is trying to already throw, knowing where the trend is, and you can look at the election today. He cant win the popular vote. All he has a chance electoral vote, and hes trying to cast already a lot of doubts and decision. Reestablishing the trust between community and Public Safety, and if the federal government will follow the lead of the local Law Enforcement and work in their cooperation and do it from a basis of helping them, one lead, the local police, you can find a way to assist, and i find it a little ironic given when we were a sanctuary city and the main lawsuit right now and the federal government has approved of our sanctuary city, this they withheld grants and the city was denied resources to support their citys police department. If youre concerned about Public Safety on cities across the united states, you should have been letting that burn grant go starting in 2017. Number two, i think we all have to be honest. There are legitimate protests going on, but there are individuals trying to hijack those protests and then create violence, and if the federal agencies are going to support governors and mayors, they should do it in conjunction to separate those who are trying to whether its in portland or seattle, austin, los angeles, chicago, trying to hijack legitimate political expressi s expressions, and expressions of First Amendment rights and use it to create violence in the dark and using those protests as cover, and the federal government needs to follow the local Law Enforcement, and i think the biggest thing cities and mayors are trying to do right now is reestablish the relationship between the community and the police so we can have safety in our neighborhoods and our communities and trust is a key component to that strategy, and a federal thump does not help as if, and i said this the other day, and i want to repeat. I think Donald Trumps got this backwards. He should be nationalizing our response to Public Health and localizing our response to Public Safety.
