Reporter yeah, that Digital Divide, the difference between students who do have access to a laptop and those who dont, it is a critical issue and we expect the state of california to be announcing today steps they are taking to close that gap, but there are also things that you can do at home. And while some progress has been made, much more still needs to be in oaand,het ar o wayoo do nave Group Oakland undivided raised more than 12 million to make it happen. Laptops and also wifi hot spots, those will be provided to students starting in early august. In the south bay, there will be a drivethru device donation happening today in san jose. The city is asking you to drop off a used laptop or chrome book that will then be refurbished for the 14,000 students in san jose that are trying to learn without the proper tools right now. That did he nation drive is happening this evening from 4 00 to 6 00 p. M. At the berryessa branch of the library there. And they will also accept cash donations to help them pay for the refurbishment of those laptops and get them to kids in need. Amy hollyfield is live at pier 30 with what is being planned. Reporter yeah, city leaders are concerned, they have announced new strategies to address this issue especially the demand for tests. That will include adding 400 more tests available every he sit atr on the embarcadero. So more tests here every day, but you will also see more tests around the city. They are adding two new mobile popup testing sites deployed to areas disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus. And they also added a third long term site on the southeast side. They say this will increase the Testing Capacity by 45 . And they need residents to do their part to slow the spread. Im tired of living in this covid19 world just like you are. But the sooner we all act responsibly the sooner we can get back to reopening our city. Reporter an average of 79 new cases are diagnosed in San Francisco every day. City officials are worried that if the curve doesnt start to flatten, the city could face a situation like we saw in new york city by next month or early fall. Some republicans want to reduce the unemployment benefit to 400 per month, but democrats are pushing to keep the 600. How many seats each state has in congress. 675 billion of federal funds is allocated by how many people live in your community. And they are projecting for the next ten years. So, yes, we fill out our forms this year, but it is to account for the next ten years.
