Authorities say that the suspect came out of a home and fired a shotgun at members of a s. W. A. T. Team. Deputies returned fire killing the suspect. The two deputies were taken to the hospital, Officials Say this all began as a Domestic Violence incident yesterday morning. A woman reported the suspect held her hostage overnight, poured gasoline on her and then threatened to laight her on fir. Authorities have not released the name of suspect or the condition of the Sheriff Deputies so far. Back to you. Today west Contra Costa Unified School district will hold a virtual town hall. The district released a framework for the new school year which starts on august 17. And td plhe plan is to do dista learning from home and bringing students back when it is safe. Although some high need students may be on campus on august 17. The district says there are still more details that they need to work out. San francisco and oakland are still trying to figure out when or if students will return to class. Both districts say no matter when that is, safety protocols will include face coverings and social distancing. And there will likely be a mix of inclass and distance learning. In san jose, they say the majority of students will start the school year in virtual classes from home. Many california Prison Inmates are having their sentences reduced because of covid19. The pandemic has forced prisons to shut down credit earning programs, instead state Officials Say most are getting 2we 12 weeks of time served taking off of their sentences. Inmates with serious violations serving life without the possibility of parole or are on death row are not eligible for this. And dozens of inmates who work on hand crews are quarantined because of the virus. And Governor Newsom says the state is looking to hire more than 800 people to replace the inmate fire crews.
