Ari gershman was offroading with his son in the sierra and that is when Officials Say that he was attacked by a man who was on butte countys most wanted list. Amy hollyfield is live with the sad developments. Reporter the cousin of the victim says that the family does not know the man who has been accused of shooting and killing ari gershman. We now know the mans name and we have his picture. 40yearold john conway of or rowville. Conway was on butte countys most wanted list last summer. Investigators say that conway went on a shooting rampagehe tae forest shooting three people. Two survived, but ari gershman died. We talked to a witness who was he see rare areierra and she heard the gunshots. We assumed that they were just target shooting because it is legal to shoot guns in the national forest, so we didnt really think anything of it. About ten minutes later, we heard another couple gunshots and then screaming. Gershman was offroading with his 15yearold son jack when he was shot. And it took rescuers 30 hours to find jack in the forest. His cellphone had died. He was also hiding because he knew that there was a gunman in the area. He was scratched up and covered in bug bites when they found him, but he is okay. Jacks mom and aris wife paige, she was diagnosed with cancer about six weeks ago and she went through her third round of chemotherapy on monday. Shes now a single parent to the three kids. You go to the east bay shoreline and even without the breezes, mid to upper 70s. And as you head inland, we have mainly low to mid 90s. But there you go, tonight we fall back into the 50s with cloud cover alone tg the east b shore. So temperatures quite a spread from 60s at the coast to 80s and 90s inland.
