What i want is for the officers to be held accountable because they could have done anything else but shoot my son. Reporter thursday two months to the day after Steven Taylor was shot and killed, a vigil was held to remember him. Family, friends, and even those who didnt know steven spoke. His grandmother says she can no longer watch the video. It is hard to look at something when you see your grandson dying right in front of you on a dirty floor. Reporter San Leandro City Council voted tuesday to reallocate 1. 7 million that would have gone to the Police Department to other areas to help those in the community. Those here say that that is not good enough. Not for a city in a spends more than 40 million a year funding the Police Department. Taylor was homeless at the time of the shooting and it is still unclear what happened. He may have been having a mental episode, but his mother says that is no excuse for what officers did. Im upset and im hurt. The proper steps are not being taken and we need the police to take proper steps. Wr reporter those who attended the vigil, they would like tsay would like the name of the officer released and they would like more Police Funding reallocated to other areas and other departments in the city. Jr stone, abc 7 news. And this morning a former atlanta Police Officer who shot Rayshard Brooks is expected to face a judge. Garrett rolfe faces 11 charges including murder. Rolfe will appear before a judge this morning facing charges of murder in the death of Rayshard Brooks in a wendys parking lot. The other officer to respond to the call, 26yearold devon brosn brosn brosnan, will testify against rolfe. He is accused of standing on brooke bes should bes should struggled for life. His attorney described the encounter. I felt eflts friendly, respectful, i was respectful to him and i felt like he seemed like someone who potentially needed my help and i was there to see what i could did for him, make smure that he was safe. Officers say the shooting was justified and the criminal charges are because of political pressure. And along the central coast, santa cruz and monterey counties are expanding the reopenings as well of personal Care Services starting today.
