No traffic is moving on the western span of the bay bridge. As you look at that shot right there, you can see some of those folks out there on the bridge. Were talking about around a dozen or two dozen people on that bridge. Ive seen some other pictures out there this evening of the standstill and the backup before this area, the area that has been closed down because people literally waiting in their cars for this situation to be cleared where they can open this up to traffic. For the most part, it has been the big cities where weve seen protesters. Today, it was danvilles turn in what was billed as a wakeup march. Cornell was there and spoke to the organizers. That organizer never dreamed she would be leading a protest march in her hometown, but its happening. Hundreds of people came out tonight. No justice no peace several hundred people on the move through the streets of downtown danville in support of a growing movement. Because black lives matter. This peaceful march ornid. She is 25 years old and a danville native americ. I never thought that this was going to be my reality. We talk about rosa parks and Martin Luther king, but this is the moment. This is real. Black lives matter Michael Ambrose and his mom, sydney, were here. Theres not a lot of black people in this town, and we need to show support for them. Were tired of seeing Police Brutality and all that. Were out here supporting them. Before the march, some shared painful stories. They say systemic racism has no place here or anywhere. Living in danville, i can never not see color because im constantly reminded of mine. Basically i drew george floyd because sadly he died. Hes still with us, though. She and her mom, sally, were inspired so many people took time to take a stand. We dont typically see people in our neighborhood supporting the cause, so this means a lot to us. Several weeks ago some danville businesses boarded up doors and windows fearing the same vandalism that occurred in walnut creek, in it never happened. She says her cause is peaceful and honest. Theres people dying. Lets bring the same energy to something of a movement thats my everyday life. That peaceful march ended a short time ago through the streets of downtown. Most of the protesters wore masks and used social distancing as they made their way from fort mason down to the waterfront. Buddhists in support of the black lives Matter Movement meditated in front of San Francisco city hall this morning. This has become a weekly protest called sit, walk, listen. Organizers want to promote empathy ieng tt organizing these listening circles to hear from others. The group will hold another event at city hall next sunday. A woman seen in a nowviral video calling out a San Francisco homeowner for painting a black lives matter message in front of his Pacific Heights home is apologizing. Here is part of the exchange. Im asking you if this is your property. Why are you asking . Because its private property. Because its private property. Are you defacing private property . That video seen so many times. The woman speaking to James Juanillo is lisa alexander. Juanillo identifies as a brown man. In a statement to abc7 news, alexander apologized for the confrontation and says, quote, the last 48 hours has taught me my actions were those of someone who was not aware of the damage caused by being ignorant and naive to racial inequalities. When i watched that video, i am shocked and sad that i bhooifd the way i did. It was disrespectful to mr. Juanillo and i am deeply sorry for that. Anyone with video, pictures, or information about a night of vandalism in oakland is urged to contact police. Yesterday at least half a dozen businesses were cleaning up shattered glass following friday nights destruction. Officers say they were met with resistance when they responded to reports of a group of 100 people, some armed with bats on telegraph avenue. Store windows were broken and a building even set on fire. Police say no arrests have been made. Three of the Largest Police unions in california today unveiled a National Reform plan. Those unions are in San Francisco, san jose, and los angeles. The plan includes creating a database tracking officers who are fired for gross misconduct. A national use of force standard with a focus on deescalation, more training, including ongoing crisis intervention training for officers. At the same time Police Departments are warning against defunding their offices. All the things that our Community Wants us to do to be better, to respond faster, to have better training, you Start Talking about defunding, youre actually taking that away. So it doesnt help anybody. It doesnt help the cops and it sure doesnt help the communities they serve. The plan is outlined in ads today that Police Unions placed in four newspapers, including the chronicle. The city of fort bragg may get a new name. The city on the mendocino coast says it received requests to change its name, including many from outside the city. Fort braggs mayor says the council will discuss whether to put the issue on the November Ballot for residents to decide. Religious institution went ahead with indoor, inperson services this morning. So temperatures a little bit warmer today than we were yesterday. But all in all, its very comfortable. 70 right now in oakland. 76 in san jose. Its a cool 60, though, in the city since we had fog for much of the day. 77 in santa rosa. Overnight tonight mainly clear skies south of the golden gate. Partly cloudy skies and temperatures will bottom out in the mid50s to lower 60s over the next 12 hours. So tomorrow, again, temperaturewise its not that bad. Its pretty comfortable in the afternoon. However, well find increasing high clouds throughout the morning and early afternoon. So by 4 00 its not only partly cloudy, but well have that breeze about 10 to 20 Miles Per Hour with that onshore breeze keeping temperatures pretty comfortable tomorrow again. On tuesday were going to lose the marine layer and by the afternoon well start to see a little bit warmer in terms of our temperatures. More widespread 70s and 80s around the bay shore line. But watch what happens as we fast forward into wednesday. This is when it really starts to warm up and those temperatures really jump. So by wednesday afternoon you can see those temperatures going back into the low 90s. A lot of 80s around the bay shore line. Well continue to warm up even on thursday. Thursday looks to be the hottest day we have this week. Were in the midor upper 90s in our hottest spots, even a lot of 80s from oakland to redwood city to hayward.
