This health and Fitness Center in benicia says it is not ready to reopen yet even though the county of solano has given gyms permission to go ahead and reopen. Take a look at this list of businesses that the county says can reopen. Gyms and Fitness Centers, wineries, bars and breweries, Family Entertainment centers, zoos and museums and hotels. As long as they meet the requirements set up by the state. Now, this comes as a surprise because the state has said these businesses can reopen friday. Solano county originally said that, too. But now says go ahead and reopen if you are ready and have met the requirements. Gyms we have checked on this morning are closed. Including this one. So, be sure and check with the business youre wanting to go to before you head that way. Just make sure that theyre ready and that theyre open. Long held the hardest hit Santa Clara County is starting to see a new rise in covid cases coming from Public Health director dr. Sarah cody. Were beginning to see a little bit of a uptick in the hospitalizations which reflects the easing that we did in the middle of may. That point coming in last nights county board meeting. Dr. Cody didnt elaborate on the data, but according to our partners at the mercury news hospital declines but have risen since last sunday. The county currently has 73 infections. And coronavirus cases continue to spike in at least 20 states, including california. Abc News Reporter andrea has more information on that and what goes against what was first thought. New this morning San Jose Police are investigating a crash that put a teenager in the hospital. It happened around 10 15 last night near 33rd street. Officers say a car hit a 17yearold girl. Happening today, the San Jose City council will discuss police use of force at a City Council Meeting comes amid the growing calls across the country to defund the police. Yeah, back lash against the san jose Police Department in response to some of the force used that we saw in the recent protests and now the department, as you mentioned, is announcing some changes to its policy and response to that and also the deadly force we all saw the officers used in george floyd. Now just last night chief eddie garcia of the San Francisco Police Department announcing the department is banning the use of kneeling on someones neck to subdue a suspect. Intervene when they experience Excessive Force and rubber bullets are no longer going to be allowed to be used for crowd control. In todays meeting the San Jose City council will consider if any of those changes are substantial enough as calls grow louder for cities to consider defunding budgets and allocating services that would try to address the root causes of crime. San joses mayor sam liccardo made it very clear he is against the idea of defunding the Police Department. Weve got to recognize that the path forward is through reform, not to defund the police. What i hear is the overwhelming call in every neighborhood meeting im in for more police patrol, not less. He also went on to say that defunding the police would, in fact, hurt the ver that some of these changes are trying to help. Mayor sam liccardo says the Police Department is already rather lean when compared to other Police Departments across the country. He is exposing expanded authority of a police auditor. Happening today, San Francisco leaders will call on the city to ban police from using things like rubber bullets and pepper spray. Hillary roanen andllce a otest safely act. It would ban certain crowd control methods used by Law Enforcement in response to recent black lives matter protests. The legislation would also ban any other chemical agents, as well as any other military vehicles. Doctors from a major Bay Area Medical Center are joining calls to ban rubber bullets by Law Enforcement. Ophthalmologists drafted the petition which has now been signed by hundreds of doctors and professionals across the country. Highvelocity injuries when they are targeted at peoples face, especially their eyes. Thats it. Blinding eye injury. The petition supports the American Academy of opthumology that demanded Law Enforcement stop using the projectiles as a method of breaking up crowds. The state says theaters can open on june 12th with county approval. Theaters will be limited to a quarter of cupaucity or a maximum of 100 movie goers. Theaters are encouraged to take reservations. State officials also suggest they use disposable or washable seat covers andhed to keep guests at least six feet apart. Require people to wear face masks when they enter and leave the theater and at the concession stand. You wouldnt be required to wear one while watching a movie. New this morning at the live desk just days after tesla reopened its plant in fremont, several employees reportedly tested positive for covidronav. This is all according to washington post. Two of the positive cases were at the companys Seat Assembly facility which is just a short drive from the main plant in fremont. The affected employees were told to stay home. We thought we would come here and find a bunch of sweaty people but instead the Benicia Health and fitness club is not open yet. They are not ready to meet all the states requirements and they need more time. Solano county has decided these businesses can open as long as they meet state requirements. That includes gyms and Fitness Centers and wineries and bars and breweries and zoos, museums and hotels. There was some confusion on the date.
