A snippet of what officers faced on the front lines. Bottles of urine being thrown at officers. Vehicles at high rates of speed threatening or attempting to strike them before fleaing and multiple officers were struck on their person, helmet, face shields with various objects. Local social justice organizations say that the actions by some of the officers against peaceful protestors were inappropriate. They say that there should be accoty officers involved. Chief garcia is encouraging the community to report instances of wrong doing and he says that all the complaints will be investigated. They are suspended as questions swirl about their kuhn detect during a protest honoring george floyd. The Police Department is investigating after video that appears to show two officers pushing an elderly man to the ground. And this video is hard to watch. So you can see the officers come up to this 75yearold man and seconds later, hes down and to hit his head on the ground. And you can see maybe not from this angle but the other side that there was blood coming from his ear. The officers take a look at him and they kept on walking and this is the part, in a press release buffalo pd said last night, that the man tripped and fell and that is despite this video that were all seeing that clearly shows he was shoved. He had to be taken to the hospital. He had a head injury of course. Hes in serious season and now those two officers are suspended without pay and all of this happened just hours after a memorial for george floyd in minneapolis. Its time for us to stand up in georges name and say get your knee off our necks. Now, this morning were also learning that two of the former Police Officers charged in floyds death turned on Derrick Chauvin who is the one that knelt on his neck. They say that they tried to stop him saying that he shouldnt do this or they shouldnt do this and asking chauvin repeatedly to roll him over. Both of the officers were rookies. They were on the job for less than a week, chauvin though a 19 year veteran. Lets talk about curfews. Most of them have been lifted around the bay area but in a few cities theyre still in effect. Fremonts mayor says it will lift at 5 00 this morning here and vallejo and walnut creek and concord are still saying people stay inside from 8 00 p. M. 5 00 a. M. Go to abc 7 news. Neighbors have rallied together for peace and to send the message that racism will not be tolerated. Dont write all over our streets and let our kids see that theres hate involved. This now viral video coming from the community of san rafel is uncomfortable to watch. Why do black lives matter . All lives matter. How about all lives matter. It shows a man going on a tirade tuesday evening directed at a group of about 10 adults and children drawing with chalk showing their support for black lives matter after the killing of george floyd. I was taken aback. It was ridiculous. I wasnt expecting itly ias really upsetting and i was scared but i was also scared for my kids. This is where the incident happened. I mean it made me feel proud of this neighborhood. I did not feel proud two days ago. Calls to the man and his wife were not returned. Neighbors say this is the man apologizing for his actions while some rnlt sure if his apology is sincere many believe ca. Ere not immune to racism. Far from it. But as evidenced by hundreds of messages and chalk, this is a moment for a much needed coming together and a message in acceptance and love.
