The group rallied downtown outside city hall. Hour before. The number dwindled but made it close to highway 101. Police formed a line and blocked them from the freeway. They came out and even my daughter participated in that. The protest started and ended at city hall. Last nights march was put together by two students. It started with a text and blossomed into something bigger in days. We spoke to the two about how they organized it. 15,000 People United with on. Solidarity march. It started with a text. He said im trying to organize a march for tuesday. He was like ill post it and pass fliers over oak lands. I wonder if you want to be a part of it. You are a leader. And he was like i have the post ready and i was like lets do it. The organizing was key. It took four days with social media playing a vital role. The rules were clear. Guidelines we didnt want to loot. And destroy things. That wasnt what we were trying to do. That attracted a bigger crowd. You had younger people and older people. The voices of these freshmen were heard throughout oakland. Even making it to city hall. We are very proud of the beautiful demonstration. What does that tell you about the power that lies within you . I gave people hope. That the youth has the power to organize. Young people are under ratd. Were some of the smartest in the world. A power that not only influenced and inspired thousands. Also the principal seeing one of her own on the front lines. It gives me hope. Sometimes i feel helpless. I dont know what to do. Besides educate. Thats the way i hope to grooime the world. One word to describe this movement. Three words. Revolution of youth. Black youth. Powerful. Incredible to see what they put together.
