Our diane macedo has more on how some camps are responding. Take a look. Reporter across the country thousands of parents, kids and camp directors are wondering if the Coronavirus Crisis will ruin a summer rite of passage. According to new cdc guidelines Youth Programs and camps wanting to open should do so only if they can take certain precautions like screening children and employees, intensifying cleaning and ventilation, making adjustments to limit sharing and allow for social distancing, training all employees on health and safety protocols and planning for if children or employees get sick. Camps really do have a challenge. Theres a pathway for camps to open, but theres some real work they need to do to do so safely. Reporter some camps have already announced they will not open for the summer. Others are awaiting guidance from state and local governments. In new york and new jersey, the epicenter of the virus in the u. S. , governors have yet to say whether camps are even a possibility this summer. In states like rhode island, camps are allowed to resume as usual but under strict guidelines with children divided into groups of ten or less and then there are virtual camps like those offered by lavner camps in pennsylvania. Okay, so all you need to do this is gloves, which most of us have on hand right now, a lot of. Some sort of covering for your surface, either a tablecloth or an old garbage bag, need a plastic bag, rubber bands, dye and then, of course, your shirt and, of course, an apron. You dont want to get it all over you. If youre new at this, melissa, what are some Creative Designs that you can go with to get started . Okay, so the cool thing about tiedye is that it comes out looking really professional and its not that hard to do so ill show you three different techniques, the first is the bullseye. Essentially what you do is have your shirt laid out. Pick it up from the middle, just like this. Then you start rubber banding all the way down to the bottom. Its going to look like this. Super easy. Thats the first one, the bullseye. Another one easy to do is the swirl. Same thing, have your shirt laid out. Start in the middle and you just start turning it either clockwise or counterclockwise until you get a ball. Once you get your ball, youre going to start again rubber banding it like a pizza, and its going to look like this. And the last one you can do is the stripes or the line technique. You have your shirt laid out flat and just start scrunching it like an accordion from the bottom all the way to the top and then youre going to start rubber banding it in the middle and go out to each side and it is going to look like this. Im telling you guys, its not that hard to do. You cant you wont mess it up. Tiedye always looks good for some reason when youre done with it. Yeah, so [ laughter ] it does. I was holding off on editorializing. But now we get to the hard part. Give us tips for putting the dye on.
