Governors announcing new rules for california restaurant, malls and offices as the state deals with the coronavirus pandemic. These moves will accelerate the reopening process across the state. We got a lot of updates today and guidelines for restaurants that want to reopen for in person dining. Its clear things will continue to look and feel different. Although most of the bay area has yet to move into phase 2 the statewide order is loosening up and moving faster. Governor with this. Today were announcing additional modifications statewide. For our stay at home order. The modifications include opening up malls only for curb side pickup and allowing Office Spaces where employees cannot work from home to reopen with social distancing. In addition to other Services Like car washes, pet grooming. Making some clarification. Theres been some of this happening now on dog walking. All of these areas also are being modified. Statewide. To help businesses prepare the governor announced guidelines for various industries and including restaurants. In person dining it allowed restaurants should offer health screenings. Disposable menus and discontinue shared food items. Also tables should be six feet apart or separated by a barrier. Hand sanitizer should be available and face coverings worn by servers and bussers. Thats not all. There should be no preset table settings. A linen should be removed and in a sealed bag. If it sounds like a lot, it is. Chef george chen told us this is particularly going to be hard on fine dining. If you have a plex si glass barrier, that doesnt feel right for fine dining experience. And doint want to go to a restaurant where the next table has a big x on it. Or tape. Like a crime scene. Its going to be a challenge. Newsom says theres other states that are more restrictive. It should be opened in the first phase. Just 25 capacity. Others said 30. Some said 50. We decided not to be prescriptive. Keep in mind most of this is not allowed. The California State University system cancelled nearly all in person classes for the fall. Chancellor says the move was necessary because of the evolving data.
