This morning, shock waves are felt after a bold, legal move from teslas ceo elon musk, threatening to move his company out of fremont, out of the state, and asking courts to force Alameda County to let him opening his manufacturing plant. Reporter musk and county Health Officials feuded for weeks whether the plant is an essential business. The county says it is not. The suit filed in federal court says according to the criteria laid down by Governor Newsom it is and the state takes precedence. The suit claims Alameda County thus gave itself the power to force the closure of businesses that State Government had ordered could stay open. Musk and the county sparred over whether the company could stay open in mid march, but with some parts of the state loosens restrictions that kept businesses from operating, Alameda County forbids tesla from resuming work. The suit says that violates due process and equal protection clauses of the constitution and says the countys orders should be declared void and without legal effect. County officials are trying to find middle ground. He just needed to give us another week to get this done right to make sure that his employees came back safely. In fremont, Cornell Bernard, abc 7 news. New this morning, the major question for california businesses, how are local Wine Industries going to bounce back after reopening . Small bay area wineries lost on average 40 to 60 of sales during the shutdown. I spoke to a top wine analyst rob mcmillan from napa county. He said wineries will have to shift Business Models Going Forward and many should think about marketing towards a younger crowd. I think at this point, with older consumers sheltering in place, maybe a little less anxious to get out, youre naturally going to have that younger consumer in your case and so what i suggested to wineries in my blog is that they think about maybe changing their case. Maybe what we should do is think about surcharging like uber does. You know, if its super busy, you raise the price. If its not busy, you lower the price, instead of having a flat fee. And rob says right now the average tasting fee is about 45 a person in napa. Pretty steep. It can add up. Many smaller wineries rely heavily on profits from their tasting rooms and restaurants, neither of which will be reopening at full capacity it seems any time soon. On the flipside, large wholesale wineries who sell to supermarkets are the winners, seeing on average a 60 increase in sales thanks to so many people sheltering at home. And those increased alcohol sales. Happening today, speaking of wine, spend some time with mom for a virtual wine tasting. We are looking at some more sunshine, in fact, we have it in our east bay valleys this morning, but a live look right now from live doppler 7 and notice that we have some clouds around, a little bit of fog, that marine layer expanding. Here is a cold front that will be visiting us tomorrow and tuesday, in fact, a late season storm that will allow for temperatures to be cooler than average. The Golden Gate Bridge right now lots of cloud cover, mid50s out there, to the upper 50s from the peninsula, to about 50 gilroy and pacifica. From our roof camera, we have the clouds and the light winds right now but the seabreeze picking up throughout the day. 54 in napa, 55 in concord and for mt. Tam the sunshine above, trying to show you the sunnier spots out there. You have to get above the marine layer or far inland. With the clouds and sun to start this morning, its fairly uniform in the low to mid50s, then looking at somesunshine, a little breezy along the coast for mothers day, and those scattered showers arriving tomorrow into tuesday. Its a level one system, a weak one. The rain will be favoring the north bay and looking at anywhere from 00. 01 to 0. 1 elsewhere. Could see a lingering shower into wednesday but the winds will be kicking up as well, making it feel cooler out there, and as we look at the next several days, we havent seen this in a while, its the cold front that will be heading into the north bay first. Later on in the day tomorrow, then spreading to the south and with that, by late afternoon, early evening were looking at the best chance of showers and they get more scattered through the overnight hours, some sierra showers as well and into wednesday, you can see still looking at some unsettled weather here. So well put it all together for you in terms of rainfall amounts. Favoring the north bay, anywhere from a quarter inch to better than that, around calistoga, santa rosa, elsewhere about couple hundredettes, several hundredths in san mateo. Tuesday high through the north bay it will take time for the clouds to year, in the 50s throughout the Morning Hours and upper 50s, some sun. By about 1 00, but its cool, mid and upper 60s out there, and looking at temperatures way cooler than you were into the week last week, in fact, we saw upper 80s even yesterday in our inland valleys and you folks will continue that cooldown today. So from concord to livermore yesterday, it was a warm one. So coming down anywhere from five to eight degrees today, about 80 in antioch and maybe about ten degrees cooler in concord today at 76. 67 for new oakland, berkeley, upper 60s, el cerrito, richmond, low 70s for santa rosa and napa and the accuweather sevenday forecast then will be a mild one this afternoon, inland around the bay, about 70. Cool and breezy at the coast, then monday and tuesday a chance of light showers favoring the north bay. Look at the numbers, though, really cool with 60s to low 70s, and really i guess could you say warm up by the end of the week, but still looking at numbers certainly no heat out there in this sevenday outlook.
