Doctors say given their experience with plasma they hope this works they just dont know for sure with covid19. Get off the elevator and that liquid gold as they call it because it looks kind of golden. Reporter a bag of plasma donated by someone who successfully recovered from covid19. We know its been successful in fighting their own infection. We can harvest those antibodies as easy as giving blood and then transfuse it into a patient who may not have had those antibodies evolved yet. Reporter on friday night doctors were able to transfuse the first plasma from a donor into a patient. They say the role of an antibody is like a virus stun gun. Theres two parts. We hope by stunning the virus at least its not making more so the organs can heal over time. Reporter on saturday the World Health Organization tweeted, quote, we expect that most people who are infected with covid19 will develop an antibody response that will provide some level of protection. What we dont know yet is the level of protection or how long it will last. Some people do get protection, and its probably where your body is totally angry because theres a virus causing infection. Reporter now doctors are asking adults to give plasma, give blood products if they have had covid19. Its taken a lot of teamwork for hospitals and blood banks in the bay area to get the system in place. Now they hope those who have successfully recovered from covid19 will step forward. And its here for a while until the other vaccine in 12 to 18 months. So it really is imperative on us to find therapies we can use for sick patients when they need them. Those who have had covid19 and had no symptoms for the past 28 days can donate. You can go to any blood bank. Be ready to show some documentation you did test positive for the virus. The other can detect covid19 antibodies. The mission is showing some of the highest infection rates in the city. And the deaths amongst our people and our community is devastating for latinos and africanamericans. Reporter the testing part of a ucsf steady to help determine how the virus spreads. This important study will help us advance our understanding of the virus in the latino communities and help us fight the virus better and equitably across our city. Im lucky now. Reporter he got test would the hope it brings a vaccine closer. Even if its one piece of the puzzle it helps the entire world to figure out whats happening and how to deal with this. But if it gives them the results that they want in order to get the data im willing to be a guinea pig. Reporter the free testing continues through tuesday. I left my heart in San Francisco my love waits there in San Francisco above the blue and windy when i come home to you San Francisco your golden sun will shine on me nicely done. Thanks to all of you for taking part. And i know at noon today drew tuma in San Francisco was singing that song along with everyone else as he prepared this forecast. Oh, yeah, i know a lot of people singing about the weather. Its gorgeous outside for the weekend. Tomorrow, though, well keep the sunshine but well notice cooler temperatures rush in thank tuesday an onshore flow returning. Already seeing that tonight in the form of some coastal fog. Live doppler 7 along with satellite showing you we have dry skies. But above we do have a canopy of some thin serious and very close along the horizon there is some fog keeping the city cool down into the 50s. Winds right now are light but important in our forecast because the light onshore breeze we have right now that is going to keep us on the cool side tomorrow afternoon. You can see wind only 17 Miles Per Hour in San Francisco. But thats going to be key because its coming off the cool ocean water right now, and thats going to help to usher in those cooler temperatures. Already seeing that cooler air move in right now. Look at that temperature change compared to this time last night. 2 degrees cooler in jose and right now 5 degrees cooler in hayward. We were in the 70s and 80s this afternoon our warmest spots. Were now falling back into the 50s and 60s. Were down to 55 with fog in the city. 60 in san jose, about 55 ipnevada. Brentwood still mild right now coming off a temperature of 72 degrees. Live doppler 7 along with satellite were tracking still High Pressure in control just off our coastline and that created the warm weather earlier today. Some high clouds moving in across california, and that onshore flow it is developing. So future weather as we go hour by hour early tomorrow morning 6 30 in the morning you do notice you have that fog banked up right along the coastline. And it will sit there for much of the morning. Thats going to slow the warming process tomorrow especially close to the coast. And thats going to bring those cooler afternoon highs. So overnight tonight well continue to fall slowly into the 50s. So for this time of year this is pretty mild night for late april numbers. Clouds along the coast, mainly clear skies elsewhere. And then tomorrow about a 5 to 8 degrees cooler compared to today. So high about 67 in the sate, 72 in both san mateo and oakland. About 81 in santa rosa. About 72 in richmond, 80 in concord, 78 that high in san jose. So heres the accuweather seven day forecast for the next seven days for you. A cooler afternoon on the way tomorrow, and that trend does continue into monday as well. However, we do have a quick spike in our temperatures tuesday. A one day affair with some hot temperatures near 90 degrees inland, and then its kind of a return to reality here. Notice cooler closer to average thursday and friday. But nonetheless the next seven days a lot of sunshine head said our way. All right, drew. Thank you very much. Still ahead on abc 7 news at 11 00, an oakland nurse was ahead of the game getting her coworkers that could mean an increase byin energy bills. You can save by setting your heat to 68 or lower.
