Health care workers hope to test as many residents who want to be tested over the next several days. Locals say if it helps stop the spread of coronavirus theyre in. This is not a nice time little germ is out there doing its thing so weve got to stop it. Reporter Patricia Delgado doing her part to help stop covid19. She just got tested. And shell never forget it. The back of the throat, choking you, and then the back of the nose choking you again. Reporter delgado lives in the mission district, where thousands of residents havt several outdoor testing sites for free. Two tests are available, one for covid19, another can covid19 antibodies. The mission is showing some of the highest infection rates in the city. And the deaths amongst our people and in our community is devastating for lateenos and africanamericans. Reporter the testing part of a ucsf study to help determine how the virus spreads. This important study will help us understand our understanding of the virus in latino communities and thus enable us to fight the virus better and more equitably across our city. Im la feeno. Reporter sergio valarde got tested with the hope it brings a vaccine closer. Even if its one piece of the puzzle, it helps the entire world figure out whats happening, how to deal with this. Reporter earlier this week the entire town of bo llinas got tested. The result of that urban area will be compared to results from the mission to get new understanding about the virus, how it moves and who it infects. If it gives them the results they want in order to get the data im willing to be a guinea pig. Reporter free testing continues through tuesday. Individuals will get their results within 72 hours. A covid19 testing site in the east bay is set to open on monday at the Alameda County fairgrounds. People who have symptoms, chronic diseases or who have recently been exposed can be tested. They must also live in either pleasanton, livermore or dublin. Appointments are not needed. Up to 150 tests will be given each day. San franciscos laguna honda hospital is now reporting 20 confirmed cases of covid19. 15 Staff Members and 5 residents have tested positive. The last resident to test positive was on april 7th. The hospital is under protective quarantine, and the cdc remains on site. Now, across the bay area there are nearly 7,500 confirmed cases of the coronavirus. Santa clara county still has the most cases at over 2,000. It also has reported the most deaths with 99. A total of 261 people in the bay area have died from the virus. A hopeful sign of recovery today out of china. Chinas National HealthCommission Said as of yesterday no new covid19 deaths have been reported for the past ten consecutive days. Health officials credit the effectiveness of treatment for severe cases. By last night the number of confirmed cases on the chinese mainland reached just more than 82 rk,800. The vast majorities of those patients have recovered. We are getting our first look at what life is like when businesses reopen in the u. S. Following a stayathome order. Georgia is allowing beauty salons, gyms, bowling alleys and some other nonessential businesses to open their doors. There is some concern, though, since some medical experts predict the state will see the number of coronavirus deaths peak next week. Reporter floridas governor says his state is also working to expand testing. We have contracted with two different of these labs that can do high throughput testing. Reporter and Florida Governor ron desantis announcing pharmacists in his state will be allowed to conduct tests on the general public, which should increase the number of test locations in that state. Orange and ventura counties still have some open beaches. But the parking lots and piers are closed to stop outoftown visitors. Residents are cautious about any activity that could jeopardize social distancing. I understand that we want to enjoy life, we want our state to open up again, we want our counties to open up again.
