Workers at marina supermarket were following the new rules, but that includes customers too. If a customer does come to the store and they do not have a mask, then well refuse service or even if we have maybe extra masks, well offer a mask to them. Governor gavin newsom has announced that california has secured thousands of hotel rooms to house the states Homeless Population during the pandemic. The state has secured nearly 11,000 rooms. He said about 4,200 people are already off the streets and out of the shelters. Among those helping out is motel 6, which has committed 47 motels in 19 counties. Speaking from a motel 6 in campbell, he appealed to cities that are blocking state efforts to help the homeless. I just want to encourage those cities that are blocking efforts like this to consider theirselves in the context of other, to consider their action in the context of their community, to consider their actions in the context and annales of history. Theyll judge themselves, not just be judged by others, to the extent that they help the least among us at this incredibly important time. The state has a priority list of those who will be put in hotels. They include those who tested positive and those who have been exposed to covid19 as well as the elderly. The state Health Department revealed the impact that covid19 has had at nursing facilities. Among the hardest hit facilities in the bay area, gateway care and rehabilitation in hayward with 102 confirmed cases. Canyon springs post acute care in san jose with 64 and Valley House Rehab Center in santa clara has 63 cases. Statewide more than 1,700 nursing home residents have tested positive for coronavirus. Now, across the nation at least 7,300 nursing home or longterm care residents have died as a result of covid19. Only 19 states have reported the number of cases. New york has the most. More than 3,300 residents have died there from the virus. Many Small Businesses are demanding action from the federal government. Thats because they havent received loans yet from a Program Designed to keep them operating. The owners of south San Franciscos hula hoops tiki bar and restaurant claim their sales are down 90 due to the coronavirus quarantine. They have applied for loans under the Paycheck Protection Program or ppp. Hula hoops has not received any word on a loan, something its owners consider to be a lifeline. Our daily sales is not even enough to pay the rent or the employees, so we dont know how long were going to last. Congress needs to take action and they need to approve the 250 billion for ppp. If they do not, businesses will shutter. Tough Financial Times have not stopped hula hoops from providing free hot meals to local health care workers, Police Officers and firefighters. The Jefferson High School family Harvest Food Bank served more than 1,200 families. Food assistance and donations have ramped up here and across the country since the pandemic has taken hold. Wic, a program that provides groceries to pregnant women, new moms and children has seen a rise in applications. We have seen a lot of requests come through our website and through the phone system. Nobody likes it when your kids ask whats for dinner and youre not sure what to tell them. Yeah, pretty sad. At least 22 million americans have filed for unemployment in the last three weeks. Today workers at a mcdonalds in oakland walked off the job over coronavirus concerns. Representatives for the workers say they filed a complaint with the Alameda CountyHealth Department. They say workers are concerned about sick leave and personal protective equipment. Earlier this week Governor Newsom ordered two weeks of paid sick leave for Food Industry workers. We reached out to mcdonalds for a comment on todays protests. This week they told abc in a statement, since february, we have changed nearly 50 processes in mcdonalds u. S. Mcdonalds continued, adding its confident employees impacted by the virus are receiving paid sick leave to tending to their Critical Health needs. San Francisco Police are asking for help in finding the person who stole the car of an uber eats driver while he was making a delivery. Surveillance video shows the car on mission at 14th street yesterday afternoon. The driver says the customer called him to tell him he was waiting in front for the delivery. Now, he left the keys in the car to make the delivery when a man just hopped in and drove away. Police have not found the car and ask anyone with information to contact the department. South Bay Health Care providers just got a mask donation thanks to 15 chinese students. They dropped off the masks on campus today where a collection site was set up.
