People in two bay area counties are told they are required to wear masks in public. Fremonts mayor announced an executive order for people to cover their faces in public or fined 100. Joins marin and Sonoma County in issuing the requirement. Fremont will not cite people right away. Starting today, people in Sonoma County have to cover their faces when they leave their house. They can leave a face mask of any type of fabric that covers their noses and mouth. Kids under the age of 2 and people who have difficulty breathing are exempt from this. Sonoma county is also requiring all staff, visitors and First Responders at Nursing Homes and at homeless shelters to check for symptoms before they go in. The number of confirmed covid19 cases in bay area and Santa Cruz County will likely eclipse 6,000 later today. This morning, more than 5,900 cases and 187 people have died. Santa clara county continues to be the hot spot. There are now more than 1,800 cases there and 69 people have died in the south bay. Both Alameda County and San Francisco have surpassed 1,000 cases and San Mateo County reports seven new deaths with nearly 800 confirmed cases. Now, were also keeping track of cases in lake and Mendocino County. Lake county is reporting six and Mendocino County is reporting four cases. In the north bay pg e plans to turn off power to do Maintenance Work to prevent wildfires and the utility continues to notify customers in advance of the system repairs, but not working as smoothly as they hoped, especially since were in the middle of the pandemic. Power did stay on in the north bay after pg e initially planned an outage. Why does the schedule keep changing . We are taking feedback into consideration and were doing everything we can to reduce impacts to customers. But we have to do this work. We have to get this work done in these highfire threat areas before wildfire season. Pg e plans to cut power 18 times before the end of this month in mill valley, san rafael and novato impacting several hundred customers. An East Bay Church pastor has been cited for violating the shelter at home order. The Sheriffs Office says nearly 40 people went to a service at all Nations Church of god in christ in richmond on easter sunday. The sheriff says the citation was issued because the pastor refused to cooperate. Food Service Workers in california will get two weeks of paid sick leave under an executive order signed by Governor Newsom. We dont want you going to work if youre sick. Lets talk about our essential workers and their commute this morning where we look at emeryville and where its cloudy isolated mist in the air and falling and drizzle and dry conditions around. Were stuck in the 50s throug at least 11 00. Only low to mid 60s this afternoon as a southerly breeze will keep the clouds blocking a lot of the sunshine ask keeping cool air coming off the San Pablo Bay and also off the ocean. For the east bay, in the 50s through at least say 11 00 and then some mid 60s for several hours this afternoon. I think well get a touch more sunshine than yesterday. Lets talk about San Francisco where we start in the low 50s and end up in the upper 50s under a partly sunny and little breezy near the coast this afternoon. It does appear debris in both areas but shortly after 1 30 this morning on state route 4, also known as john mayor parkway, there was a deadly crash there between a semi and one other car it looks like. Excuse me, this one is involving multiple cars. Theres two and about 45 minutes apart second one in pleasanton a car and a semi on southbound 680 just before burrnell avenue. Both situations not good this morning and theyre still working on the investigation into both of these. Were going to take a live look outside right now showing you the bay bridge toll plaza. A chance of sneaker waves and log run ups on our beaches from 11 00 this morning until 11 00 this evening and around the state today, it looks pretty quiet. In the east bay, a wild chase is under investigation this morning after a suspect was shot and killed by police during a confrontation in richmond. Investigators say officers opened fire after the suspect rammed his car into a marked Oakland Police vehicle injuring the two officers. Police say the suspect then pointed a firearm in their direction and thats when police shot him. They say officers initially tried to stop the suspect last night after they had a call about a female abandoned on the side of the road. That woman is in Critical Condition this morning. The two officers were taken to the hospital. They are expected to be okay. In the north bay, coronavirus could cost the Wine Industry 6 billion in losses. Despite a surge in sales at Grocery Stores, the California Wine institute says the lac at tasting rooms is really going to hurt. According to the report, smaller wineries producing less than 5,000 cases are expected to see a 48 loss of revenue. And thats a majority of napa valley wineries. If you live in oakland, you should just get ready, youre going to see more street closures. The city has identified 11 additional miles for the Pilot Program and the soft closures could start today. Reporter the Oakland Police department slow streets could become unsafe. If they get caught up in illegal side show activity, like this one from last weekend. Its not really conducive for illegal side show, however, we know that illegal side show will use side streets or smaller streets to navigate their way through the city. Thats scary. That could be very dangerous. Lets talk about whats going on with our fog and you can see, it is, excuse me, low clouds everywhere this morning. But look at this, just a touch faster well have some sunshine today. Places around the bay, but maybe not as much up in the north bay where the clouds will linger a little bit longer. Lets look at our high temperatures and well go inland to find some 70s and places like antioch and fairfield and up towards ukiah and otherwise middle to upper 60s inland and middle to upper 50s along the coast into San Francisco at 59. Tonight a few 40s up in the north bay and cloud cover coming back low to main 50s. An omega block high pressure. Its making the greek letter omega and you can see these areas of low pressure go all the way up into canada and alaska and slide down towards the coast towards us. They dont pick up much moisture, but cooler weather and enough moisture to bring us clouds in the morning and limited sunshine in the afternoon. By this afternoon, a stray shower possible in the diablo range and lake and mendocino counties. Tomorrow afternoon, a little more sunshine than today, but temperatures will be about the same. And sunday waking up to clouds in the morning. Once the low clouds go away, the high clouds will come in and that will ekekeep temperatures above average.
