So we went to crissy field in San Francisco earlier today. You can see a lot of people out exercising and staying pretty spread out. And that is the point. It was different story in union square with a few cars driving around, but very few people out walking. And here is a look from sky 7 over San Francisco. Where as you can see, normally along the embarcadero it would be very busy, and it just isnt. Pretty sparse out there. I noticed it comes in to work today. Coming down main street, i posted a video that looked just like this. Normally it would be absolutely bulsing, teeming with people. Not at all. As you can see from the live pictures from sky 7, there are people out and about, but very few. Perhaps 10 of the normal number of people and cars that you might see out and about at 5 00 on a tuesday afternoon. People heeding the order. Now in the north bay, people in Sonoma County are not affected by the shelter in place order, but they have accepted. Thats going to change very soon. Cornell bernard is live in santa clara. However, we did speak to some inspiring people who arent letting the bay area shelter in place bring them down. Tonight one of san joses most popular gathering spots is a virtual ghost town. The majority of santana row shut down for mao because of the shelter in place ordinance. Its a very eerie feeling to walk on santana row. This is a place bustling of people. You have people all over. But some restaurants like lb steak are open for business, ready to serve customers through Curbside Pickup or Delivery Service like doordash. Theyre rolling three of the concepts into one including meso mediterranean and left bank brasserry. We need to take care of our guests. Michael . Yeah, these types of payments are made to give the economy a shot in the arm, more than to help the individual. The individual then helps because of the shot in the arm. So the president wants the money to be spent right now. Within the next two weeks, the checks should be heading out, at least if the president gets his way. The idea of just sending out money to everyone to head off a recession is not new. This was pioneered by president ford back in 1974. He ushered in a 30 tax credit for taxpayers which is about worth 100 a day that was received quickly and is widely believed to have softened hard economic times. When it occurred again in 2001 when most americans received about 300, and again in 2008 when most americans received between 300 and 600. So do credits or rebates work . Do they help fix the economy . There is a disagreement on how well they work, but it is generally understood that when the rebates are aimed at low and moderate income worker, the economy is helped.
