Restaurants can stay open but with takeout only. These rules were crafted with great thought and care and very quickly. Businesses that do not provide an essential service have to send employees home, and that includes bars, clubs and entertainment venues. Seems like for the first night of the shelter in place order, both businesses and residents here in san jose have taken it seriously. We have seen a number of nonessential businesses, gyms, bars closed this morning. And we are seeing restaurants closed down, and they were given the okay to stay open and operate in a takeout capacity, but they have closed some of their doors. And we have videos showing signs with a message, and the old wagon saloon and grill saying due to the outbreak we will be closed until april 6th. And the music venue shutdown, and the shelter in place is affecting businesses in six bay area counties, including a bakery. Its very scary. I dont know what is going to happen. A lot of businesses are worried if they can come back after this, and my staff is super understanding, and everybody is going to file unemployment for the lay off and open flhopefull will be back up. And as you see, there is still recycle and garbage collection happening in san jose, so those essential services are still up and running even in the middle of the shelter in place order. Breaking this morning a ucsf emergency room doctor tested positive for coronavirus. You can see the headline, an er doctor was diagnosed with covid19 after attending a National Conference for er doctors. The doctor is a 32yearold, and his symptoms are mild and is saying home, but he is concerned he may have exposed other doctors at the conference, and as referenced in the headline you can see that there. The conference was in new york city slightly over a week ago before he started showing symptoms. We reached out for comment on the story and will provide updates for you today on abc7news.
