We saw a lot of the nonessential businesses shutting down, but we did not expect to see the restaurants shutdown, and they were given the okay to stay open but many shutdown anyway, and san jose staple closed. We spotted a number of signs like this from the old wagon grill, saying due to the outbreak we will be closed until april 6th, and then its not just here in the south bay, the shelter in place order is affecting businesses in six bay areas, including this bakery. Its scary and i dont know what is going to happen. I know a lot of businesses are worried if they can come back after this, but my staff is super understanding. Everybody is going to file for unemployment for the lay off, and then hopefully we will be back up. Reporter back here in san jose we saw a number of San Jose Police department cars driving around and reminding businesses of the shelter in place order. We heard from a number of Police Departments across the bay area saying the order is legally binding but they do not expect to patrol the streets, writing tickets and telling people to stay indoors. Trash and recycling will continue as normal during the bay area. Waste collection Officials Say they are operating on the same schedule and on the same routes. You can do your part by crushing cans and breaking down cardboard to make sure the trucks have plenty of case. The number of coronavirus in the bay area increased. Marin county reported two new cases, and there were two more deaths in Santa Clara County. A total of four people have died in Santa Clara County and there are 138 cases there now. President trump now admits the coronavirus could be around for many more months and his administration is making a new plea to millennials during the crisis. Today the senate is expected to take up after emergency bill that passed in the house, and it provides financial help to people out of work because of the virus, and trump says the disease could linger into the summer, and they called on millennials to help on gma this morning. Yesterday the president s Coronavirus Task force announced nationwide restrictions, many which are already being implemented in the bay area, like staying away from restaurants and bars and avoiding gatherings of 10 or more people. I have an appointment with the nurse, and she told me to take tylenol and fluids, and book an appointment via the doctor on saturday. She still had body aches and a dry cough and the doctor determined she should get tested and stay in until then. Since i was not sick, she stayed in isolation in her room and i stayed away. I only went into the room to take her food. She ate by herself in the bedroom and i ate by myself in the kitchen. Very strange. We could not even watch tv together. I did self isolation as well but still had to go outside to walk the dog. Testing was in a drive through tent, and i will let her describe the test. They dont let you get out of the car. You stick your head out of the car, and they give you a tissue and ask you to blow your nose to discard any mucous you may have, and they come to you with a swab, but its sharper, not like a cotton swab, and they put it in the back of your throat and collect something from there, and they stick the other part up your nose, but you have to do it. It takes 20 seconds maximum. I was not tested because i dont have any symptoms. We expect to know within 24 hours if she has coronavirus, and waiting five to seven days, living together and each of us isolated in a different part of the house is very tough. The number of coronavirus cases is in increasing in california and is expected to go up again today. 557 people in the state have tested positive, and nearly 300 of those cases are here in the bay area. The governor called for tighter restrictions yesterday statewide, and he wants all dinein restaurants, health clubs and gyms to shutdown, just close. The governor issued an executive order to help prevent evictions during the pandemic by giving more control to cities. Actions have already been taken in san jose, los angeles and San Francisco. Washington today, the senate may take up the Coronavirus Response bill. The bill would give paid emergency lead and free testing by those affected by the coronavirus. The house passed the bill last night after making changes to the stimulus package, and the changes include speeding up cash for hardhit small businesses. President trump is issuing new nationwide guidelines for the outbreak saying we should be prepared for this to last through july or august.
