They abandoned the boat they were in as it was heading towards the rocks. They got in a life raft and hiked up to an area where firefighters were there to evaluate them. Both are thankfully expected to be okay. Just a remarkable happy ending to a mystery many assumed had ended in death. Even as late as yesterday morning it was authority carol and ian might have been dead but then came the stunning turn of events. They were found alive. If all goes well they could back in palo alto by the end of the weekend. The couple vanished after renting an airbnb in invernes ve saturday. They left their things behind. How the two were found and how they managed to survive. Reporter a rescue helicopter pulling two missing hikers to safety. 77yearold carol and her 72yearold husband ian irwin found alive at the seashore. Rescue teams along with a search daughter named grut found the cummins dense brush. They were like thank god you found out. Were so happy. Carol and ian are doing okay. They were suffering from slight hypothermia. Both wearing light jackson but alive and talking. The couple was found three to four miles from the house they rented in inverness. They had missing since valentines day. They left for a hike, got lost in the dark and they dont know what happened after that. The reason they are most likely alive is because they were drinking from a puddle they found near where they were located. Sheriff Officials Say ian injured himself in a fall which likely prevented the couple from walking out. Our prayers answered. Inverness neighbors feared the worst. Dozens of personnel never gave up trying to find carol and ian. In speaking with a search manager we have thats been doing this 40 years and was also involved in the fire Service Always speaking of the family, its a miracle. Reporter some say the brush where they were found was so dense they had to crawl in. I spoke with the couples son by phone a short time ago. They were eating from a fern. The couple drank from a puddle of water and had a will to survive. My brother said i lost a shoe, so i was walking with one shoe. Then i lost the other shoe and i kept walking in my socks. Then i got tired walking in my socks and i walked bear feet a while. Hes 77 years old.
