It comes after new developments aboard the quarantined diamond princess cruise ship. U. S. Officials say the american passengers will be evacuated and fly home from japan tomorrow night. The cruise ship was put under a twoweek quarantine on february 5th after a reported outbreak. The u. S. Embassy in japan says the 380 americans will fly into Travis Air Force base in fairfield before heading to Lackland Air Force base in san antonio. Tom gong and a team of volunteers jumped into action when the coronavirus locked down wuhan. The groups first shipment to Union Hospital landed january 31st. That arrived before the hospital declared sos to the whole society. They have ran out of stock. Theres nothing. So its very reporter gong clearly hurting for his hometown, he was born and raised in wuhan and went to college there. He recently banded together with other graduates of wuhanbased universities also living here in the bay area to help. They make up the new nonprofit wuhan united. I havent met most of them. This have partnered with nonprofits like direct relief which supplies much of the needed equipment. Wuhan united steps in to help with logistics, customs forms and paperwork needed to get supplies to hospitals in wuhan. They say many volunteers are familiar with business in china. Many of them they have, you know, fulltime job, you know, there are new moms who had a baby just two months old, you know, really great group of people. And everybody is trying to help. Reporter she had a personal relationship two decades ago with Mohammed Nuru is not unethical, but having nuru pay 5,600 last year to fix mayor breeds car plus a rental is unethical. New numbers from the cdc show after falling for the first two weeks of the year flu cases are back on the rise. So far this season the cdc estimates there have been at least 26 million flu cases, 250,000 hospitalizations and 14,000 deaths. And the season has been especially hard on children with flurelated child deaths and hospitalizations at their highest point in a decade. What we found is that there has been more of a higher predominance of influenza b and unfortunately influenza b tends to affect the pediatric population a bit harder.
