miles per hour. the day stays like that. even sunday afternoon and sunday evening, it will still be breezy. it's not until monday that the winds will finally calm down. in southern california, it's all about rain. they'll have a passing shower on the red carpet tomorrow for the oscars. again, you see that right here on abc7. so the accuweather seven-day forecast back here at home in the bay, you see strong winds tomorrow. winds calm down monday, and our temperatures really climb into the upper 60s for midweek before we cool off for valentine's day on friday. >> sounds good. nice to see all that sunshine through there. >> mm-hmm. i like it. the lakers didn't just walk through. they had to play basketball. >> they had to fight against the warriors. coming up tonight in sports, more from that warriors/lakers game including a breakdown from larry and cary. plus words from tom steyer: listen, every democrat running for president is better than the criminal in the white house. we all have progressive plans to address the big challenges facing our country. what makes me different, is i've been working for ten years outside of washington, to end the corporate takeover of our democracy, and to return power to the american people. i started need to impeach to hold this lawless president accountable. i'm proposing big reforms like term limits... ...a national referendum... ...and ending corporate money in politics. as president, i'll declare climate change an emergency on day 1. and, use those powers to finally address the climate crisis. and, i've spent 30 years building a successful international business. so, i can take on donald trump on the economy - and beat him. i'm tom steyer and i approve this message - because there is nothing more powerful than the unified voice of the american people. it's timcan it helpltimate sleep nukeep me asleep?he sleep number 360 smart bed. absolutely, it senses your movements and automatically adjusts to keep you both help teens gain the skills needed to find good jobs. obama: at a time when washington is divided in old ideological battles he shows us what can be achieved when we bring people together to seek pragmatic solutions. bloomberg: i'm mike bloomberg and i approve this message. >> announcer: abc7 sports sponsored by river rock casino. the warriors lost to the lakers tonight, but they did gain a player. tonight was the warriors debut for andrew wiggins. the main piece golden state got back in the trade with minnesota for d'angelo russell. hard to say how wiggins really fits in considering the big three did not play tonight. but there was definitely more energy for the whole team, and wiggins no doubt energized himself in the new environment. he had 24 points and 5 steals. abc7 sports director larry beil and abc7 nba analyst cary keating talk about the new guy. >> so the warriors lose to the lakers but the bigger story is the debut of andrew wiggins. i think the warriors had to be happy with what they saw tonight. >> they'd be happier if they got the win but certainly in the case of wiggins, he showed a little bit of the flash he can bring to the team. getting downhill, hit a corner three, was able to get five steals. you'd like him to rebound a little more but i think by and large you saw what the potential is. no klay, no steph, no draymond tonight, and he was still able to impact the game that will be more impactful when those guys are back. >> the question mark with wiggins in minnesota was does he bring it every night? will he guard defensively? you know what? lebron came down the court. he's like, i got you. and he had five steals in this game. if the warriors can get that effort every single game, i think they're going to be really happy. >> showed some willingness to defend, and that's going to be obviously a big piece that he has to bring to the table. he's athletic. he's got decent size on the wing. he kind of fits that role to guard bigger wings. but we know in small ball he's going to have to guard in the post. did that successfully tonight, but this may be a great fit for a guy who obviously has some talent where he doesn't have to be the star. he has to be a supporting guy who can step up and get you 20, who can be a guy that's a threat to score. if he can make some plays with the ball when he has klay and steph and obviously draymond on the floor to help him out, it could be a huge success. 2021 could be a very good year for a lot of reasons because this didn't just bring andrew wig wigans. it brought two potential picks. it opened up $17 million in cap space. there's a lot that came with it besides andrew wiggins that could make 2021 a great year for the warriors. >> deangelo, we hardly knew you, but it's a new year for the warriors and we welcome andrew wiggins. we'll see what he brings to the table. chris, back to you. right next to andrew wiggins, the newest warrior, 24 points, 5 steals in your debut. what was it like to be out there running around chase center? >> it was good. the atmosphere was crazy. i had a lot of fun. >> what's the last 48 hours been like for you? >> exciting. you know, exciting. i'm entering a new chapter in my life, a positive chapter, you know, and i watched golden state succeed last, you know, the last year. it's something i want to be part of. >> do you feel that championship culture when you get off the plane and get here? have you felt that yet? >> for sure. just the way they do stuff, their approach to different things. you can tell it's a different type of vibe. >> have you had conversations with steph, klay, or draymond, and what were those like? >> i talked to them earlier. they were all excited to have me here. backing from them means a lot because they're the champions. >> there was a kobe tribute. kobe's passing, how has that affected you? did you have a personal relationship with kobe? >> i feel like it affected everybody, you know. he was such a global icon. i never really had a personal relationship with him, you know. we said words to each other on the court. probably a reason why a lot of us play basketball. he's the jordan of our generation, you know, so it was tough. >> for an nba player to move that quickly, what's that like for you and your family? >> it's not difficult. i have a great support system, you know. the only people that are really moving is my girl and my daughter, you know. we're accepting the cold. we're in warm weather now, so there's no complaints. >> that's abc7 sports report sponsored by river rock casino. no snow here like they get in minneapolis. andrew, his nickname, he's a canadian born. maple jordan is what he got -- >> maple jordan? >> yeah. it's pretty good. first overall pick back in 2014. very tall. he played great tonight. >> a lot of athleticism. >> and steve kerr said he kind of fits more of a puzzle piece as to what they need. you get steph in there, klay, put him on the wing, get draymond. they're building for next year and that's kind of what they're looking for. >> never hurts to have another rim protector in there either. >> 5 steals defense. if anyone gets blown by, he's right there to knock it down. send that maple syrup back. >> any predictions for best picture? >> i haven't seen many of them. i feel like i should know them better. >> i'll say parasite. >> you will? >> we'll see. >> i'm supposed to watch movies? >> you better come back tomorrow with your oscar prediction, buddy. me too. that's it for tonight. that's liz kreutz. i'm eric thomas. abc7
