death outside mainland china. they've shut down almost all of their boarder crossings. it's now killed 426 people. in the united states cases have been reported in five states. with two cases in illinois and one each in massachusetts, arizona and washington. california has a total of six cases. you see the counties on the map with two in santa clara county. kate larsson has the latest on the outbreak and its impacted on the bay area including two patients being treated tonight. >> reporter: they specialize in treatments with complex diseases. so, they've not officially said where in the system those patients are. however, here multiple employees told me today they received an email that said the two corona virus patients were transferred here. there were only a few to be found that -- the husband recen travelled travelled to wuhan, came home and had symptoms the next day. his wife now has it, leading them to call it a person-to-person contact. >> they're in an isolated room. >> dr. cofax does not want the community to over react, particularly because there have been no coronavirus cases in the city. >> we've activated our medical response team. we've done this before. sars, out grown the space. if they could drive at the church, that would be great. but they don't have the dedicated space to do that. >> reporter: they run as a homeless youth shelter seven nights a week. but rising rent is forcing the shelter to find a different location. >> they need bigger space and more dedicated space and they need it in berkeley. >> reporter: he says roughly 20 to 30 young people, ages 18 to 24, stay at the church each night. but the church feel said the young people need a more stable environment. >> for years they've been sleeping on mats because we can't give them the dedicated spaces. >> reporter: he says they're still in negotiations with the shelter, so nothing is final just yet and they won't be kicking them out. >> as long as they have no other place to go, they have somewhere to stay with us. it's just not an ideal situation. >> reporter: the covenant house has been looking for a new location well over a year, well before their contract expired in
