been confirmed in the u.s., the most recent, a husband and wife in san bernardino county, california. three cases are now expected in new york city. at least 362 deaths have been reported in china, more than 17,000 infections have been reported worldwide. >> thousands of doctors and nurses are on strike in hong kong, demanding their government close the border to mainland china. more now from abc's clayton sandell. >> reporter: as a new case is confirmed in california, the u.s. is closing the door to slow the spread of novel coronavirus. as of 5:00 p.m. -- >> no foreign nationals, non-u.s. citizens who have had contact with mainland china in the past 14 days will be permitted by the federal government to enter the united states. >> reporter: for americans who traveled to the outbreak's epicenter in the last two weeks -- >> they will be subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine. >> reporter: several airlines are already canceling flights in and out of china. these passengers stranded in shanghai. flights still making it in are being diverted to seven airports where passengers get special screening. >> they asked me if i'd had a cough or fever, anything like that. >> reporter: at this southern california military base, jared evans is one of 195 americans evacuated from china, making the best of a two-week quarantine. >> the super bowl party will be right there. everyone is tonight for the country's crucial first vote on who should take on president trump. the race is expected to be a tight battle with polls too close to guess the winner between former vice president joe biden, senators bernie sanders and elizabeth warren, and former south bend mayor pete buttigieg, two moderates and two progressives. >> if the turnout is high, we're going to win. >> we are going to beat donald trump. >> we choose unity over division. and we choose truth over lies. >> we believe we're the best campaign to go out there and beat donald trump. >> president trump, however, has been taking aim at mike bloomberg, who's been spending more than $300 million on ads. bloomberg will be in california today. he is the only candidate who will not be campaigning in iowa. he's also the only candidate who has been to every super tuesday state, part of his bigger strategy to win more delegates and the nomination. join us live tonight for the results of the iowa caucuses right here on abc news, plus all-night coverage on "abc news live." on capitol hill the impeachment trial is winding down with closing arguments set to begin this morning. president trump is facing all but certain acquittal on wednesday, a day after he delivers his state of the union address. by he's still sounding off about impeachment. abc's david wright has more. >> reporter: unrepentant, president trump sat down with fox news ahead of the super bowl. >> i use the word witch hunt, i use the word hoax. i see the hatred, i see the dilemma. they don't care about fairness, they don't care about lying. >> reporter: he let loose on his rivals and critics. >> what they've done is they've really -- all the media, i call it the fake news, and it is fake news, so much of it. and a lot of the fakeness is they don't want to report the good stuff. they don't want to report that the economy is good. >> reporter: one of the two republican senators who rescued trump from an extended senate trial by voting against witnesses -- >> mr. alexander. >> no. >> reporter: said he doesn't approve of the president's behavior. >> i think he shouldn't have done it, i think it was wrong. inappropriate was the way i'd say. improper. crossing the line. >> reporter: but lamar alexander doesn't think the president's conduct was impeachable. >> hopefully he'll look at this and say, okay, that was a mistake, i shouldn't have done that. >> reporter: judging from the fox news interview, trump is not quite ready to bury the hatchet. >> pelosi. >> i think she's a very confused, very nervous woman. i don't think she wanted to do this, i think she really knew what was going to happen, and it's her worst nightmare's happened. >> reporter: one of the president's closest allies in the senate signaled he's ready for payback with hearings investigating joe biden. >> you should expect us to do this, if we don't do it, we're letting you down, and i guarantee you if it were a democrat -- if the shoe were on the other foot, democrats would be eating us alive if republicans had done any of these things. >> reporter: one day after the president's speech the senate is expected to take its final vote on impeachment. that vote expected to clear him, mostly along party lines. david wright, abc news, west palm beach. >> david, thank you. police in london shot and killed a man who they say was responsible for a terror attack. that suspect was just released from prison last week, but police had him under surveillance. at least three people were injured during the stabbing spree. abc's maggie rulli has more from london. >> reporter: terror in broad daylight. armed officers shooting and killing this suspect on a london street. a fake suicide vest can be seen strapped to his body. the man was under police surveillance. >> the suspect had been recently released from prison where he had been serving a sentence for islamist-related terrorism offenses. >> reporter: authorities able to quickly take him down, putting an end to his violent stabbing spree in the middle of the afternoon. this is where those multiple stabbings occurred. it is a busy area filled with shops and restaurants. now it has been completely shut down. two people stabbed, another injured in the crossfire by shattered glass. authorities quickly calling it a terrorist attack, believed to be tied to islamic extremism. >> i mean, you can kind of distance yourself when it's further from home. but when it's actually on a street that you walk down every single day -- it's frightening. >> reporter: this is the fourth terrorist attack in london since 2017 involving a stabbing. the others all at iconic tourist destinations. this is not the first time here in london that someone who was recently released from prison committed a terrorist attack. the prime minister has said they've already increased prison time related to terrorism, and he plans to announce changes to further toughen up the system. maggie rulli, abc news, london. >> our thanks to maggie. the brother of the girlfriend of amazon founder jeff bezos is suing the billionaire. >> it stems from the publication a year ago of text messages from bezos to his girlfriend. his lawsuit claims the world's richest man and his security consultant defamed him by spreading the story that he had supplied the material. the "national enquirer" said the material came from the brother. bezos has indicated he thinks saudi arabia was the culprit. the kansas city chiefs are super bowl champions this morning. >> it was a close one, and after an interception, it seemed as if san francisco, the 49ers, might win it. but late in the fourth quarter, chiefs quarterback patrick mahomes led his team to three touchdowns in a row. >> kansas >> marci, thank you. we will have live coverage of the results of the iowa caucuses right here on abc and throughout the night on "abc news live." turning to the historic impeachment showdown now headed to a speedy finish in two days. both sides are set to deliver closing arguments today after the republican-led senate rejected demands by democrats for new witnesses and documents. senators will have a chance to voice their views on the impeachment. meanwhile, president trump is blasting the trial and house speaker nancy pelosi despite his expected acquittal. >> i think she's a very confused, very nervous woman. i don't think she wanted to do this, i think she really knew what was going to happen, and her worst nightmare has happened. >> the president went on to slam the impeachment as a witch hunt and a hoax there on fox news. as closing arguments begin today, stay with abc news for live coverage starting around 11:00 a.m. eastern. tomorrow evening the president will deliver his state of the union address and a vote on whether he should be removed from office is set for wednesday afternoon with the senate all but certain to acquit. london police say a 20-year-old man, released from prison last week, is behind a stabbing spree they are calling a terror attack. the suspect was fatally shot by police after he stabbed at least two people while wearing a fake suicide vest. he pleaded guilty in 2018 to possessing and distributing terrorist information. but police were so concerned that he was under surveillance. another person was injured by shattered glass. at least 20 people were killed during a church service in tanzania. authorities say hundreds packed a stadium, and they crushed each other as they rushed to get anointed with blessed oil. some of the victims were children. more than a dozen others were injured. now to the global health emergency caused by the rapidly spreading coronavirus. 11 cases have now been confirmed in the u.s. three new cases were diagnosed in california on sunday. the most recent cases are a husband and wife in san bernardino county. the husband recently traveled to the epicenter of the outbreak, wuhan, china, but the wife did not. three cases are suspected in new york city. meanwhile the nearly 200 americans quarantined at a military base in southern california enjoyed a super bowl watch party. they were even served wings and beer. it took half a century, but the kansas city chiefs are super bowl champions once again. >> they beat the san francisco 49ers 31-20 in a game much closer than that score would indicate, and it wasn't without controversy. our abc's victor oquendo has details from south florida. >> reporter: kenneth and elizabeth, super bowl liv is in the books. all eyes on hard rock stadium. an absolutely perfect night for football. patrick mahomes, the walking highlight reel of a quarterback for the kansas city chiefs, hoping to bring home their first super bowl in 50 years. for the san francisco 49ers, jimmy garoppolo along with a stifling defense looking to shut down the chiefs. early on it was a tight one. they were neck and neck. the game tied up at the half. san francisco came out in the third after scoring a field goal. this play really changed up the game. the 49ers picking off mahomes, taking advantage of the turnover, scoring a touchdown, mostert bringing it in from a yard out. fourth quarter, the chiefs mounting a comeback. this is the play fans will be debating. damien williams scoring but not by much. it looked like he may have been out of bounds, but in the end it was ruled a touchdown. that would do it. the chiefs would score one more time. they win 31-20. the kansas city chiefs are your super bowl liv champions. kenneth, elizabeth?
