Good morning and welcome back to world news now in your first segment of 2020, sir. Thank you. Well do thousands together. We sure will. What have you got . In the Security Division lots of outdoor security lights but this company said why do they look like security lights . So they came out with the outdoor wall sconce. Anytime theres something warm near it, a person, a dog, a car, it will automatically go on. Theres an auto theres a manual switch too if you just want to have it on while youre working around there. And it comes in black, white, and bronze and its under 50 bucks. And its battery operated. No wiring. Just stick it on the side of your house. That will help with your electricity bill. Absolutely. Easy to install. This to me is really amazing. So some doctors got together and said what if we could make a really portable automatic external defibrillator . Okay . And this is it. Up to im going to read the number from there. Up to 450,000 people in the u. S. Die from sudden cardiac arrest. So this little guy is one of the equivalent of one of those big guys. So if theres an emergency you put your fingers in here, you pull on it. Wow. The pads come out. You start getting the instructions. If its a kid, you push that button. Everybody feeling well . Can i shut this off . Okay. Yes. Were all doing good. But just in case, weve got that. So thats good. You have that. And the cheapest one i saw online was 1,500. They hope to bring this in at about 750. And theyre awaiting for fda approval. Probably toward the fall for that. Okay. What else we got . Braking bar is a way to in the back window of your car mount a unit that when you brake fast it will this will sense that youre braking fast and give a threeminute warning to the driver behind you that youre braking. And they say this acts 50 faster than your brake light so that the driver sees it and will slow down before he hits you. That is a really good gadget right there. Whats the price on that . Its 99. Its batteries. Runs for four years just the way it is. Its water resistant. And its all set to go. Love that one. I love this idea. So this is the first part, its out now. Okay . Its called hide. And its a way to hide your electric outlet. So what you do is you take the outlet from the wall and you mount it inside here. And then the plugs plug in normally. Then just the two wires go down and this cover hides it. So the wall looks like that is brilliant. Now, thats only ten bucks. So at the show they were showing that by the fall they hope to have this with alexa installed. And i think we might even have a photo of it. So that in each room you can have your wires hidden and you can also have access to alexa. Nice. And then the final little guy here ill just pick it up here is from anker. This is the first appleapproved synchro shutter for synchro flashlight for the new iphone 11. Okay . And it comes with a diffuser, comes with a little carry case. You can also use it for fill light. Here in washington today the senate decided that Martin Luther kings birthday will be a national holiday. It will be the third monday in january beginning in 1986. It was dr. Kings dream of a colorblind america which spurred this nation on to the great civil rights legislation of the 1960s. The bill was a cause that brought together faces from the old civil rights coalitions, ministers, entertainers, activists, and politicians of both races, both parties. Dr. Kings widow and son looked on from the front row of the senate galley as the last efforts to block the bill were voted down. In the final hour with the outcome assured the bills supporters led by kennedy of massachusetts had their moment. And the lights just completely cut out. And they kept going. They sang their way through it. They kept it in formation. They look amazing. And they won. Thats pretty cool. They said get in formation. They did it. They dont need lights. Dont need music. How about this . Could this be the fastest trash bin in the world . Apparently, this guy spent like his name is Andy Jennings of england. Yep. He spent hours putting that thing together. It goes 36 miles per hour. Whoa. Wow. He has a helmet on. Thats legit. Hes trying to set a Guinness World record. How about that . Oh, my goodness. Its amazing. I want to tell you about this bunny with a bowtie. There was a pet bunny. I didnt even know bunnies were pets. So cute. Yes. Check this guy out. The matchup is now set between the 49ers and the chiefs as kansas city advances to its first super bowl since 1969. Okay, okay, okay, so this is the moment that has fans flipping out all over social media, on twitter, on facebook. Theyre calling grandma saying did you see last nights s. A. G. Awards . President trumps lawyers are expected to file another legal brief today after he slammed the case against him in a speech to a group of farmers in texas, calling House Democrats, quote, lunatics for impeaching him. And the top democrat in the senate, Chuck Schumer, is vowing to force votes for witnesses and documents. Abcs david wright has more. Reporter President Trump has made clear his disdain for the impeachment process, but this weekend trumps lawyers filed his first formal response. This sixpage letter blasting the house impeachment effort as poisonous partisanship, a lawless process, arguing nothing in these articles could permit even beginning to consider removing a duly elected president. Is it your position that President Trump should not be impeached even if all the evidence and arguments laid out by the house are accepted as fact . Thats right. Reporter former harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz just joined the president s defense team. His past clients include jeffrey epstein, o. J. Simpson, and claus von bulow. Dershowitz claims that abuse of power is not grounds for impeachment. Half of american president s have been accused by their political enemies of abusing their power. The framers didnt want to have that kind of criteria in the constitution because it weaponizes impeachment for partisan purposes. Abuse of power is at the center of what the framers intended an Impeachable Offense to be. The mere idea this would have appalled the founders who were worried about exactly that kind of solicitation of foreign interference in an election for a personal benefit. Reporter one major Sticking Point at the start of this trial is the issue of witnesses after the white house refused to cooperate with the house investigation. And if my argument succeeds, theres no need for witnesses. Indeed, theres no need for even arguments. Reporter Senate Republicans plan to postpone the witness issue until after house managers present their case and the president responds. As was done in the clinton impeachment. Im going to vote against calling the four witnesses requested by senator schumer. Theyre all covered by executive privilege. Theyre part of the National Security team of the president. They could have been called in the house. They chose not to. If senator mcconnell prevails and there are no witnesses, it will be the first impeachment trial in history that goes to conclusion without witnesses. Reporter one of the first things we can expect when the trial begins in earnest is a fight over the rules. Democrats are determined to hear from additional witnesses. They want to see additional documents. Republicans are pushing back on that. They want a quick trial and are eager to get straight to the houses case. David wright, abc news, west palm beach.
