A mother was killed by a hit and run driver on the way to pick up her daughter at school. It happened this afternoon around 3 20. Lauren martinez has the story. Just really sad, though. Reporter 3 15 friday afternoon, a mother walking of killed by a hit and run driver. The car sped off and left her, you know, on the ground ma outside, could have been a hundred or more. A lot of them saw what happened. Reporter school staff says its not uncommon for drivers to speed here on 98th avenue. With traffic being backed un, kids out, you have to slow down. Reporter police are looking for the driver responsible. The vehicle is a newer nissan maxima, white in color and damage to the peassenger side windshield. We need people to slow down. This would be someone that you love, and now their life is over. Reporter in oakland, lauren martinez, abc7 news. And late tonight, the coroner wentdyed the woman killed. And a skier is dead after an avalanche this morning in a ski resort near tahoe. Were learning new details from his wife about his passion for the snow. The avalanche happened about 10 15 just west of lake tahoe. Wayne freedman has the story. Reporter at Alpine Meadows tonight, quiet broken only by the sound of grooming snowplows. A day began with the best of ties and finished with the worst. Alpine meadows avalanche. Reporter when they alarm sounded, it may have been too late for skiers up above. Witnesses saw both men racing to beat the avalanche. There was nothing they could do. Looked over to the right and saw the slide start to go. We yelled for anybody who was in the area to clear, but i guess some people didnt make it out in time. Reporter one skier survived with extreme injuries. And Cole Comstock perished. The area they were in was not a prohibited area, but it is an advanced area for skiers. Reporter later in the day, his wife spoke with reporters by telephone about how much he loved skiing and life and people. Very savvy skiing, a strong skiing, and he loved skiing. T it was a complete fluke. Reporter todays avalanche was not the first here. Thosepe history. In march of 1982, an avalanche killed seven people and left one woman buried alive for five days. Alpine records the largest number of avalanches of any ski resort in thes an aggressive pr maintain the safety of these slopes. I wanted to do something different, so as i was writing this story, i read something about a public defenders office, and i was like, wow, this saw a documentary about it, said, wow, thats a really interesting thing to add in. And then i saw a story about a woman named sante kimes and her son, who were going around the country doing some things grifting. And something happened right here in new york to someone. And when i saw it, i thought, ohh, okay. Lets switch this thing. Yeah. So, i dont want to give it away cause, im telling you no, you dont want to give it away. As the kids say, youre gonna snatch your wig at the end. [ laughter ] no, not even looking for it. She had just the issue with her is that she lived this great life. She thought shed be married forever, and she found herself really, really lonely and not ready to t this guy comes in and sweeps her off her feet. And hes not who hes handsome. Yeah, hes all those things, but hes not who. Successful. She thinks he is. [ laughs ] im just going cause when the Love Interest entersom but was he really . But he was sexy. Okay. Alright. Okay. Right, cause, to your point, she wasnt looking for love, but she was open to it when it came. Right, and she wasnt a weak woman. Shes not you know, she had her life together. She wasnt crazy. She wasnt out of she was none of those thing. She just wanted to by rectionsan the twist plot the plot and the twists are incredible. And i was thinking about this image you posted on social media of your writing room. Yeah. And you stunned the world, it seemed, when you said thats your writing room. And the only person in that writing room is mr. Tyler perry. Yeah. Some people took issue with it well, why dont you hire writers . And you were just capturing how you got to where you are and how you create. Well, what i thought i was doing was being encouraging because i laid out i laid out all the scripts that i had written, and its like, you know, work ethic, work hard, work hard. Right. But then i get all this backlash from people going, the reason your shows are so bad cause you write everything yourself, and, you should have i mean, its all this kind of stuff. But heres the thing. I had a writers room very early on for some of my shows, and a lot of times the scripts its a long story that ill tell one day. Yeah. But a lot of times, the scripts would be turned in, and i would be very unhappy with them, so i would end up having to rewrite them. And even if i let the writers put them on, my audience they know my voice
