San Francisco Police identified the body in a 43yearold cold case. Detectives say a missing persons report filed for judy gifford a few years ago placed her dispeens in tdi disappearance in the same timeframe of a murder in 1976. Dna tests confirmed the match but her killer is still a mstery. The San Francisco board of superviseders plans to take up an emergency resolution to address the drug crisis. Matt haney held a rally inside city hall yesterday demanding Public SafetyBoard Members adopt the plan which includes Emergency Response for streetover doses and psychosis, easier access to narcan and funding to establish emergency detox facilities. We have to recognize when our city is facing serious challenges. We have to recognize the responsibility that we have when these challenges get to a level of crisis. In the east bay, theres a desperate call for more toy donations. The richmond fire and Police Program is falling short this year and their deadline is coming up fast. Easily these shelves are overflowing with toys. We usually get a lot of donations at this point. But right now were falling short. Short of donations and time. We are one week out from our event, we have only filled the bags of half of the families who signed up. With the december 20th deadline fast approaching, the Richmond Fire Department and the Police Department peosted on facebook asking for help. To me, the most important part is there are for some families, some children, this is the only christmas that they have. Now the search is on for the gunman. Julian glover is live at the scene with what were learning from police. Julian . Good morning to you both. Those police were able to confirm to us just minutes ago that this is, in fact, a Fatal Shooting theyre investigating along white road here in east san jose. I want to step out of the way and let you see the work of the investigators happening now. While they investigate this Fatal Shooting that happened around 2 00 this morning when they found a gunshot victim in the 200 block of white road, theyre also still searching for the shooter. They dont know where he could be. Theyre hearing they heard from witnesses who were here on the scene that the potential suspect could live in one of these homes nearby. But right now theyre not even sure if hes here or if he could be elsewhere. K9 units are on the scene currently. They have a bear cat because they fear that this suspect could be barricading himself inside of a home or he could be elsewhere. So this Police Investigation is just ramping up. We want to point out that south white road is closed in dot directions from alum rock avenue to east hills road as officers continue this investigation and the search for the shooter. That should make it easy for north bay commuters to get to San Francisco. Even though they open tomorrow the celebration is starting today. You can take the smart train here to larkspur and then walk over on this foot bridge to the larkspur ferry, get in the ferry and a lovely ride to your job in San Francisco. This is a big deal for connecting the north bay to the city. A lot of excitement about this station opening. People waited a long time for this. Smart trains have been having some money troubles. Those issues have delayed the opening of this larkspur station. The station was approved by voters 11 years ago in 2008. So this is one of two new stations that will be opening. The other is in downtown novato. Services start at these stations tomorrow. Theyll be celebrating with Ribbon Cutting ceremonies. In larkspur theyll have their ceremony at 1 00. Novato will have a ceremony at 10 30 tomorrow morning. For the rest of this month the trains will have temporary schedules. In january they will get up to full speed and start their new timetable with more service. The next couple of weeks, think of it as getting used to it. January theyre really up to speed. The woman accused of ramming her car into a barber is set to be arraigned on attempted murder charges today. Antioch police say 28yearold Ruby Delgadillo was upset over her sons hair cut. The encounter happened december 4th outside a barbershop. Delgadillo drove at the barber after an argument. The impact pushed him through the glass storefront. The barber suffered severe leg injuries. She also faces child abuse and hit and run charge new maps reveal the east bay and south bay are at a bigger risk of suffering damage from an earthquake than any of us thought. This is the new quake hazard map from the usgs. The red is where theres a 75 or more risk of a damaging quake in the next 100 years. Researchers raised the shake estimates in the south and east bays after taking a closer look at the soil. The usgs says these maps are not meant to scare people but help us prepare for a quake.
