Tonight we are getting a new look at the damage left behind by a fire that forced seven people from their homes. A fastmoving fire moved through several apartment buildings in San Franciscos Castro District early this morning. It happened between 18th and market streets. The cause of that fire still unknown. Reporter Cornell Barnard said residents had just minutes to get out. Reporter flames lit up the Early Morning sky. Two apartment buildings were. Upaieibor saying get up, get out, the house is on fire. Reporter troy boyd and his neighbors grabbed what they could and got out. I got my i. D. , my phone, my Social Security card, shoes, and it was 4 00 in the morning, so i could barely put a thought together. When i was in the kitchen and the smoke was coming out, just breathing it. But these two buildings were not so lucky. The Fire Department said one tenant was trapped on the second floor. That individual ended up escaping out the back window. A man is in jail tonight facing charges in a cold case murder of a north bay woman some 40 years ago. Charles sullivan was arrested in arizona. He was extradited to nevada yesterday for the murder of Julia Woodward of san rafael. Her body was found in march of 1979 near reno, and she was last seen at San Franciscos airport heading for lake tahoe, where she hoped to find a job and go to school. In 2015, abc7 news spoke with julias mother who was grieving and wanted answers. Its like if your child had cancer, you would know every single thing there was to know about the disease. In this case, you just want to know what happened. You want to be there with her in your mind and, you know, think about what really happened. A recent dna analysis led to sullivans arrest. Sullivan is being held without bail. His arraignment is set for tuesday. The owner of an ice cream shop in San Franciscos Mission district is offering a 2,000 reward for information after his shop was vandalized for the second time. Police were called to the Paradise Hills home after reports of a shooting just after 7 00 this morning. Inside they found that six people had been shot. Five of them are now dead with the exception of a young boy recovering from surgery. The victims include a 3yearold, 5yearold, and 9yearold boy and the 29yearold mother and 31yearold father. Police say the father came over to the home this morning using a handgun to shoot his family before turning that gone on himself. Just pray for, you know, that family and, you know, and just hope everything comes out and, you know, its just a tragedy. Police say the mother filed a restraining order against the father yesterday but it was not clear if that order had been served.
