If youre just joining us get you caught up on our major story, one story, the kincade fire, and the mass pg e power shutoffs. Cal fire announced overnight that the kincade fire has spread to 25,455 acres. The fire is 11 one contained. 77 structures have been destroyed that includes 31 homes. As we mentioned in the last half hour there was confusion as to parts of whether santa rosa are under mandatory Evacuation Order. Santa rosa police are saying mandatory evacuations have been issued in the city limits west of highway 101 and north of highway 12. Pg e has turned off power across the bay area because of the high fire danger. There are pockets that have power but more than 389,000 customers, customers, so that could affect a million or more, are in the dark this morning in eight bay area counties. One of the big questions, of course, this morning is who is evacuate and this is a map from the Sonoma County area. The Sonoma County incident map. You can see the purple areas, those are mandatory evacuations. That area in red is the kincade fire which we do believe is growing as lisa has been reporting. Weve got wind close to 70 Miles Per Hour gusting this morning. I will zoom in on the map because one of our big concerns this morning has been the area of santa rosa. Around 4 30 this morning, about an hour and a half ago there was a blue evacuation warning zone. That is now gone. All were seeing is purple. For much of santa rosa, though, not all of the city. Were talking about areas like oakmont, coffey park, which was, of course, impacted in the 2017 fires. We do believe those are under mandatory evacuation. Of course, were talking about healdsburg and windsor which are still under mandatory Evacuation Orders. Those were put under evacs yesterday around 11 00 this morning but theres just been a new effort this morning to make sure everyone gets out of there as these very strong winds push the fire towards highway 101 in the southeasterly direction. Back to you. All right. Kate, thanks. Continue our Team Coverage with Cornell Barnard, live in santa rosa where highway 101 is backed up as people try to get out. We hear thatses the same for 116. Yeah. I have to tell you highway 101 is a complete mess here in santa rosa. Take a look, we are highway 101 south right now, it is bumper to bumper. It has taken us about ten minutes to go about a half mile. Thats how many people are on the road trying to leave the area. This is highway 101 south, highway 101 north is closed at hopper. And will be closed indefinitely. The Police Department, Santa Rosa Police Department Just tweeted and we are reading this as the tweets are coming in, folks, all areas in the city limits of santa rosa, west of highway 101, north of highway 12, north of steel lane and lewis road to montecito boulevard and to calley stow ga road, under mandatory evacuation this morning. Folks living there need to leave now. Here is why. The kincade fire is jumping lines. Here is video that just came in to us in the last 45 minutes. This video shot in the city of healdsburg at highway 128 and chalk hill road. As you can see embers are blowing in from the hills from that kincade fire. The winds are extremely gusty. As you can hear, we have sirens, we have paramedics and firefighters passing us here on the road. Here is also video of the soda rock winery. Tragically, on fire, according to the fire department. It is caused from the embers from the kincade fire blowing in. Cal fire doing their best to contain this fire into lines, but the winds appear to be having the upper hand this morning. It has been extremely gusty this morning. We were on the top of Fountain Grove parkway a few minutes ago and it was very windy. We were up in the windsor area in the last hour. There is debris all over the road. It is extremely dangerous and obviously thats why they closed 101 north. Cornell, you know, i know its slow going on 101 as folks try to evacuate but there are really no good local road options, are there . I mean officials do want you to stay on 101 . Good point, kristen. They want you to stay on 101 and off the frontage road. As we have been seeing and hard to show you because it is so dark weve seen a lot of the frontage roads jammed. A lot of folks are just doing what they can, trying to get out, trying to get on the freeway on ramps. Those are packed. Plan b, take a frontage road but those are jam packed too. According to the police, according to cal fire and Sonoma County, they just want you to get on the road, whatever that may be, and head south. Exactly. Wherever you are try leave safely. Head on 101 south. As weve been talking about the wi winds are picking up in the east bay. Lisa is tracking 93mileperhour winds in healdsburg hills. Those are wind gusts. Sustained not as fast as that but thats still incredible. Abc senior meteorologist rob marciano filed this report in the last hour. The lights are still on in berkeley and the east bay but the winds are beginning to pick up as this historic and damaging wind event unfolds. Not just the potential for spreading more fire if one does happen to spark or fanning the flames of the kincade fire but when you talk about winds that could be 50 or 60 miles an hour thats going to be enough to take down trees and potentially Power Outages where the lights are still on. Pg e has preemptively turned off the power to nearly a million customers across northern california. Thats frustrating. When talking about a setup like this its not a bad idea. The windsected crank. Hopefully we can get through this unscathed. A dangerous situation no doubt. Reporting from the hills in berkeley, california, rob marciano, abc 7 news. We want to pass along word from the city of santa rosa which tweeted out that the Finley Community center has now been evacuated. So those who were going to go seek shelter there they should go to the marin fairgrounds in n rafael. Several Evacuation Centers set up for the kincade fire evacuees. Important new information about capacity issues. The Veterans Memorial building on maple street is full. The same can be said for the petaluma Veterans Memorial building but they are still taking large animals in trailers. The sown marin fairgrounds in petaluma is just accepting large animals in trailers at 175 fairgrounds drive in petaluma. The petaluma Community Center at capacity and they cannot take additional evacuees at this time. The Sonoma County fairgrounds is only taking evacuees with large animals in santa rosa at 1350 Bennett Valley road and the Finley Community center had been an Evacuation Center and now evacuated. O not go there. All of this information obviously evolving and if you cannot evacuate because you are physically unable to do so, please call 911 for help. General evacuation questions call 211. Officials dont want the 911 call system to get clogged up with nonemergency calls. You can also get information from the Sonoma County Sheriffs Office on facebook, twitter and yourbut as you get older, thing. Welcome back. 6 14 on this sunday morning. Meteorologist lisa argen is tracking what were calling really a worse Case Scenario, lisa. It really is. Last wind gust of the healdsburg hills north, this is a wind gust, not a sustained wind, of 93 miles an hour. Up in redding theyre having winds of 80 miles an hour. This is 2, 3, 4,000 feet. Were going to have some of these gusty winds 30 to 40 miles an hour mix to the surface throughout the day. Were already seeing that. Mt. Diablo looking at 45 mile an hour wind gusts and rapid growth of spread. Cold air dropping from the north creang that very, very tight pressure gratent between High Pressure and low pressure. Thats why were seeing the very strong winds and those winds coming out of the north northeast blowing the fire, the embers to the south and southwest all the way to the ocean. Bodega bay, an incredible expanse of win and fire and looking at knoxville creek, 51 miles an hour. Mount tam, middle peak, maybe 2,000 feet. 35mileanhour winds. Oakland hills, 25. East foothills not even 1,000 feet. Youre seeing wind gusts about 500 feet of 42 miles an hour. The delta, strong north winds, santa rosa out of the north and east, san francisco, 17mileanhour winds. You can see the winds an the colors will continue to work down to the surface. Were not going to see those 60 mile an hour winds at the surface but 20, 30 mile an hour yes. As we go through the afternoon here we are at noontime and were looking at 20 to 35mileanhour winds out of the northeast continuing. This is not going to lighten up throughout the afternoon until we get to later on. 3 00, gusting from oakland, san francisco, half moon bay, san jose, this is Early Morning tomorrow. Midnight. We still have our red flag warning and our high wind warning until 11 00 tomorrow. By late monday, thats when things really begin to calm down. Relative humidity right now 17 in napa, 14 santa rosa, and with those northeasterly winds, theyre just going to dry out any moisture in the atmosphere and were at 31 at hayward, 24 relative humidity in fremont. Here is what it is looking like throughout the south bay, the peninsula and as we go through the day today here it is. 11 00 were down to 30 almost in san francisco, by 5 00 at 15 in concord. We still have the northeast winds blowing 20, 30, maybe 50 miles an hour in the upper elevations. So if there is a fire, those embers get they jump and they move quickly and this fire spreads. As were looking at temperatures in the 60s, we will see the smoky conditions throughout the day but they are being blown to the south and southeast. Numbers are warmer due to all that wind. Take a look. Cant see anything. Worst of the winds will be this morning. High fire danger through monday morning. Here is our fire danger index throughout the day today focusing on the upper elevations, but its really all of the north bay the diablo range and the entire bay area as winds gust over 30 and 40 miles an hour at the surface and then they calm down tonight and through tomorrow morning were still looking at breezy winds. Its really tomorrow afternoon when things will calm down. Highs today in the 70s. Breezy to windy out there. And looking at your accuweather sevenday forecast, the temperatures staying rather seasonable, 60s and 70s. High fire danger today, break tomorrow with the winds, the hazy conditions. Smaller offshore event looks to return to the bay area. Its just incredible the wind speeds. Youve been covering weather in the bay area for 25 years now. Have you ever seen winds like this. No. And the prolonged wind gusts were seeing the length throughout the day today, yeah, and how far how quickly its moved. Its incredible. To the ocean, south, near petaluma, i mean thats a huge area. Thats a huge area, about 40 miles from where the fire is. They were smart evacuating people yesterday knowing how strong the winds were going to be. I mean that is key. Thats what they said at the press conference yesterday thinking back on the 2017 fires, gosh, we always say if we knew what was going to happen we could have prepared. Yesterday, well today, yesterday was their chance to prepare, was their chance for people to evacuate because they knew these winds were coming. Thats right. Its really playing out just as the forecast has anticipated, so the good news is that people had the warning, but the bad news is, not even first light yet and, you know, its just amazing how big this area is. Sometimes you hope its not going to be as bad as predicted but it is. It is. Thank you for all of your work. We do have Sonoma County supervisor david on the phone with us. Are you there . I am. Good morning. I know ive been texting with you and you were just getting in your truck. Are you going to work or trying to figure out whats going on because were all very concerned about whats going on up in Sonoma County. Yeah. Im heading over to 7 00 a. M. Cal fire has their morning briefing and last night i want to be there in person to understand exactly what the circumstances are. Then well be able to get that news out to folks. Yesterday morning, you all evacuated windsor and healdsburg about 50,000 people. Now obviously overnight weve heard about a much wider evacuation area including parts of santa rosa. Do you know how many people in Sonoma County have been evacuated overnight, this morning . You know, we just we keep adding different we have ten zones. I think we might have added a few morse areas and each zone, you know, basically had anywhere from i think 20 to maybe 50,000 people, so it is substantial for sure. I dont have that exact nber now. Im sure i will get it shortly from our doc. Up to perhaps half a Million People then . The county is half a million total so it wont be that, but the zones vary if size. Theyre based upon geography. Theyre not all equal. But, you know, as we are adding them, i know at one time it was well over 80,000 and then we added a few more zones. I know its an incredible number for this county and im not sure what they do in Southern California in years past. I dont know if a larger evacuation number that has been performed. No. This is unprecedented for sure. Can you talk a little bit about i wonder if you have information as to how close those flames are getting to the incredible town of healdsburg with all its hotels, homes, restaurants, and wineries that are just such an Economic Foundation to the recently. Healdsburg obviously had to evacuate. How close are the flames at this point . You know, from what i see on the maps and what ive been listening to on the scanner and i have i will admit having some inside intel with my son in cal fire, they have spots fires on that side of the fire that are really leaping out ahead and with this wind just like in 2017, these spot fires, the embers can cast out a mile and according to the fire behavist, theres a 90 chance that ember will start a new fire. I know i just heard this morning a spot fire established on west soda creek road which is kind of opposite what would be Fitch Mountain, Fitch Mountain is that large mountain overlooking healdsburg, very wooded, crowded with homes. Theres danger that it could cross the river at that point again with the winds. The river is not going to be the barrier we usually have. And i think things like that that just make you so nervous as the firefighters who are really had a great night, i will say, but its playing whack a mole with the spot fires and thins out the resources and theres just so many of these fires that they have to chase around let alone the main bulk of fire in the kinkaid perimeter proper. Its really tough. Theyve had some successes but these the winds are not letting up and thats where the spot fires are starting. Well, and david, i know that you live in petaluma which is, of course, way far south from this area that were talking about, but we saw the National Weather Service Tweet out this morning that a fire camera showed a fire east of petaluma. Do you know anything about that . Were you seeing any glow or any smoke . I happened to be up earlier listening on the scanner and there was a transformer that blew in a field, if its the same one, a field on arnold and stage and the field started obviously catching fire. Theyre sending resources there because again with the winds being what they are they want to make sure they can get on top of it right away. If i if its where i think it is its going to be more grass land pasture land which even though the rate of speed is relatively quick, hoping for the best that they can get in there and knock it down as quickly as possible. All right. Thats at least good news that is not near an immediate population center. These spot fires can start anywhere and healdsburg is under a real, real threat. I want to ask you, though, how you think the evacuation process is going and whether the Emergency Services are keeping up and whether the terrible experience of two years ago really helped you prepare for this moment . Yeah. Thank you for that. We declared a local emergency monday night partly because of the red flag warning and partly because of the pending public power or the power shutoff. So we were prepared. We had our Emergency Operation center up and operating even before this fire broke out. So we had people stationed. The county also since 2017, and it cost a lot of money, we prepositioned firefighters on red flag warning days. 15 fire ep begins in the county, three strike teams, up staffing at our own facilities to make sure we had the people that were needed. So we jumped on things right away. That did help. The evacuation, about 2,000 people, the sheriff did a great job, used all the tools that are available including the new hilo siren which has been very effective, distinctive, that european siren and people know if they hear it, that theyre going to thats a time to get out. I heard very good things about that. I think last night certainly yesterday afternoon, we did quite well. And i know youre headed to the Cal Fire Press Conference which i think is going to start in about 35 minutes. What are you hoping to learn and hoping to hear from cal fire, what are the next steps today in terms of informing residents about what they need to know and really just about the fire fight and the progress . Yeah. My job as an elected is to make sure we communicate and liaison between the county and cal fire. Cal fire is responsible and doing great job of addressing the fire itself. Reoc is making sure the shelters and all the other services are being provided. Law enforcement has a heavy presence here in Sonoma County as you can imagine. California Highway Patrol i believe brought in upwards of 200 extra officers alone and mutual aid. I drove by the Sheriffs Office this morning about 1 00 when i left the county center and the parking lot was full of police cars from all over the bay area and its amazing mutual aid like that goes into effect its a great system that we have and were very grateful for all the help becaus weve had that eoc up and operating now for, you know, nearly a week. People get just emotionally drained and tired and we need to make sure we have fresh people in place to keep going. Its going to be a long haul here. I hope to find out this morning exactly the extent of the fire activity last night. Again, piecing it all together from the information i have is, always a little difficult until you get that oneonone conversation with the cal fire incident commander. Sure. David, thank you so much for spending time with us on the phone this morning. We certainly hope we hear some more positive news in that Cal Fire Press Conference and good luck to you too and be safe. This alert sent out at 3 18 by the city of healdsburg. Telling people, quote, winds have picked up and fire activity has significantly increased and heading our way. Leave now. And this tweet from the sown sheriff, heavy wind, smoke and debris around arata and brooks road in windsor. Evacuate now. A live look at the incident map which has been evolving this morning. A lot more purple. In the upper right the red area is the fire. Fountain grove, oakmont, Rincon Valley and coffey park, those areas were so badly hit during the 2017 north bay fires. Please leave if you havent already. This evacuation includes sebastopol and parts of santa rosa. Lisa, youve been hearing from her this morning has been tracking wind gusts of 93 Miles Per Hour in the healdsburg hills. That is unprecedented. Lets get to meteorologist lisa argen. Thats right. Thats a wind gust. Were also looking at Mount Saint Helena at 4,000 feet, wind gusts of 87 miles an hour. These gusty winds working their way down to the surface for 30 and 40mileanhour winds throughout the day today. Were seeing winds at about 25 miles an hour around the east bay but heres a look at knoxville creek near 4,000 feet. Mt. Diablo near 50mileanhour wind gusts. Hawkeye, mount tam, over 30 mile an hour and the East Foothills. The northeasterly winds blowing hard, blowing to the south and really that is unbelievable how big the fire and those embers will jump out ahead blowing all the way to bodega bay and the ocean. Gusts 36 santa rosa. You can see oakland and san jose up to 26 miles an hour. Heres a look at the smoke folk throughout t forecast throughout the day. With the gusty wind see at times it will be smoky and hazy and we will have some breaks because the winds are quite erratic out there and they remain gusty. Our red flag warning through 11 00 tomorrow as well as our high wind warning in the upper elevations and the wind advisory for the bay area in general throughout the day today. If youre not seeing the wind right now it will be increasing throughout the day. Kristen and kate. Thank you. Now lets get to the details on the major stories were following this morning. The kincade fire and a mass pg e power shutoff. Cal fire announced the kincade fire has now spread to 25,455 acres but keep in m the acreage usually increases once the sun comes up and they can get air support and see what haurned. As of now the fire is 11 contained which is slightly up from yesterdays 10 containment. 77 structures have been destroyed and that includes 31 homes. We have a Cal Fire Press Conference we will bring to you live at 7 00 this morning. As weve been talking about parts of santa rosa are under evacuation warning because of the fire and also mandatory Evacuation Order areas include Fountain Grove, oakmont and coffey park. And pg e has turned o power across the bay area because of the high fire danger. More than 389,000 customers are in the dark this morning in eight counties and probably a good thing the power is off because were hearing of downed power lines and trees but especially in the north bay in the bay area. Check in with abc 7 News Reporter Cornell Barnard on the road in Sonoma County. Yeah. Kristen and kate, no other way to put this, a mass exodus is unfolding right now in santa rosa. Take a look. Highway 101 is completely jammed. Its been this way for the last hour and a half. As folks are trying to leave the area. This is highway 101 south bumper to bumper like i said. Highway 101 north closed at hopper avenue. The Police Department just tweeted that all areas in the city limits of Santa Rosa West of highway 101 north of highway 12, now under a mandatory Evacuation Order. That includes areas north of steel lane and lewis road to montecito boulevard to calistoga road. Those folks living there need to leave now. Heres why. That kincade fire is jumping lines to the north of us. This is video shot in the last hour. In the city of healdsburg, tragically, this is the soda rock winery we are told that is on fire. Likely started from embers from that kincade fire blowing in from the hills. Cal fire doing its best to contain this fire, to keep it from jumping lines. But it is challenging with this extreme weather condition happening right now. We can tell you the winds have been extremely gusty. Very, very gusty. Cal fire says Evacuation Orders must be taken seriously. Listen to this. The public should evacuate when orders are in place. Its very important that they get out because our First Priority is life safety. The second is the safety of, you know, property and the third is resources. So i would ask if the public to evacuate when youre asked to so that we can protect your structures without having to with already having secured your lives. Yeah. Cal fire says this is a lifethreatening situation. People need to leave when they are told to. We are on the way north actually to check out those fire areas. But right now, were going nowhere fast here on highway 101 south. The Sheriffs Department told us in the last hour they want people to avoid using frontage roads to stay on highway 101 south. I have to say thats really easy to say because we have seen some epic backups here off highway 101 frontage roads near buy centennial and steel lane that were jam packed with folks trying to get on the freeway but they cant. They dont have a choice because officials have always been saying highway 101 is the evacuation route. All the other roads are sort of in the evacuation zone so you just kind of got to go as soon as you can and wait like you are. Yeah. Youre right. Highway 101 is really the only choice. Were actually in the Southern Area of santa rosa right now approaching, forgive me, putting on my glasses here, the gravstein highway that would take us into the ronner park area, frontage roads what im seeing to the right of us are a little less congested but up north, there is sort of a mad dash to get on to the freeway. My advice and the sheriffs advice at this point, be patient. The freeway will open up and were seeing a little bit of that right now. Absolutely. Good advice. Thank you so much. Even though there is a traffic jam, just best to get out as soon as possible. Of course there are lots of Evacuation Centers that have been set up for the kincade fire. Of course we have information about their capacity. They have been filling up quickly. The santa rosa Veterans Building on maple street in santa rosa is full. The same can be said for the petaluma Veterans Memorial building but they are still accepting large animals in trailers. The ma republican fair grounds is accepting just large animals in trailers 175 fairgrounds drive in petaluma and now the petaluma Community Center also at capacity and cannot accept additional evacuees. Sonoma county fairgrounds only taking evacuees with large animals at 1350 Bennett Valley road. The Community Center it was an Evacuation Center but now that area has actually been evacuated itself. So the county says do not go there. Just more troubling information for all those folks who are on the freeway wondering where they should go. This is all changing very, very quickly. We have all the information on abc7news. Com. We also have continuing coverage of the kincade fire and the power shutoffs continuing. Dont go weigh away. Well be right back. Come try my really big chicken sandwich combo with two patties for 4. 99, or three for 5. 99, or four for 6. 99. Thats an amazing deal, jack hey, thanks, stanley. Ow. Wait, whats happening . Stanley youre deflating hold me, jack only at jack in the box. Cant imagine doing it any other way. This is Caitlin Dickerson from the new york times. This isnt the only case. Very little documentation. Lo que yo quiero estar con mi hijo. I know thats not true. And the shelters really dont know what to do with them. I just got another person at d. H. S. To confirm this. I have this number. Were going to publish the story. I have this number. Two breaded chicken patties plus fries and a drink for 4. 99. Three patties for 5. 99. Or even four for just 6. 99. Four patties . Well, tickle my elbow no thank you. Try my really big chicken sandwich combos. Starting at 4. 99. Weve been in continuing coverage of the kincade fire and pg e shutoffs. Brand new evacuations this morning. Tell you about them, a live look at the Sonoma County doesnt map. All the areas go ahead. This is where the planned Power Outages are. You can see how many in each of the counties and of course a lot of that has happened. If you havent lost power at this point you probably wont. Not due to the psps program anyway. Let me tell you about the mandatory evacuations. Sebastopol and bodega bay are now included areas in zones 7 and 8, so far away from the kincade fire, thats like 30, 40 miles away. All those areas you need to leave immediately. Officials say winds have really picked up in the healdsburg and windsor area. The fire line right up on healdsburg now. Were going to go ahead and show you that live look at the evacuation zone all in purple. That represents ten zones. Those are all areas under mandatory evacuations and you have to leave right now. And the red, of course, is the kincade fire. You can see its just really right very close to healdsburg now. Now to the latest on the pg e power shutoffs. They started as early as 5 00 last night for some counties and another round of outages started at 8 00 p. M. This map shows you how many customers in eight counties are affected. Pg e has a map on of the outages right now and have a fear where you can enter your address to get accurate, precise information. All right. A lot of you have been sharing your experiences with the kincade fire on sonocial media. Eric, a photo journalist who took a picture of the family, the two toddlers smiling in the car seats happy to go on a road trip. The family im sure anxious as they evacuated from healdsburg yesterday. Another photo from eric castro, mike hill packing up his precious cargo, two dogs in the back of the truck as they evacuate healdsburg as well yesterday. They had a complete mandatory evacuation at 11 00 a. M. On saturday. This from amy marie sayin that her neighborhood wasnt supposed to lose power and that at 8 52 pfs blacked out and then it came back on at 9 36. She says to pg e is this our future wondering like so many people are we dealing with the new normal as were in the midst of our third Public Safety power outage. This photo from tiffany morgan, you can see her father and her husband theyve got their lamps on in the garage trying to install a backup generator to keep the refrigerator going and get some electricity as they wait out this outage which could be several days. And then this last photo our last order of pizza before the power shutout due to major storm. And you can see it is all going to the firefighters who, of course, deserve as much pizza as anyone can possibly give them as they do so much good on the front lines of the kincade fire and so many other fires that are breaking out throughout the bay area. Thank you so much for sharing all of your photos on your websites and on social media. If you would like to do more of that you can abc7now and that will help us get all of them on air. Kristen, back to you. All right. Kate, thank you so much. When you talk about these wind events sometimes you predict something and hope the worst wont come to pass. That is not the case here. Absolutely. Were in a worse Case Scenario with the winds. The upper elevation winds gusting to 50 miles an hour and looking at the surface winds here, at about 60 miles an hour for oakland, 26mileanhour for the East Foothills. Really a horrible situation as these winds continue to push the fire a some of those embers out ahead. What that does is create new fires and waiting for daylight to see what exactly, you know, the situation is right now. In terms of the smoke, the worst is in the santa rosa area, but throughout the day because of the erratic behavior of the fire well see it throughout the bay, probably issues at sfo, you can see it across the east bay and south bay taking you through the evening and overnight hours. There is certainly going to be haze and smoke and air quality advisories. In terms of our fire danger index were looking at the reds here through napa and fairfield. Thats where weve seen winds in the hills up in healdsbrg of 93 miles an hour. Thats a wind gust. Mount saint helena, mt. Diablo has seen about a 50mileanhour wind gust and it continues to develop today as the upper elevation winds bring winds down to the valley to 30 and 40 miles an hour. Were looking at winds on the peninsula and east bay and south bay. High wind warning for the north bay wind advisory for the rest of the bay area into tomorrow as well as our red flag warning through 11 00. 5 00 tonight, still gusty winds and then its a bit of a break as we get into early tomorrow and then things will really quiet down. But were talking about a very dangerous situation here and we will talk about the rest of the bay area, the weather the week ahead and another take the floor. Somewhere unexpected. Good morning, are you there . Th . Good morning. Can we talk about the area in the kincade fire. What area transmission towers have been deengerrized and contributed to any fires. We had a supervisor saying that a transmission, transformer blew at arnold and stage grove around this morning where a grassland fire started. Do you know anything about that . Its an ongoing situation. I dont have uptodate information for you to share regarding that doesnt. Still about 850 customers without power in Sonoma County where the kincade fire has been active since wednesday night. They are those customers still without power because of the fire itself. The transmission lines were not deenergized initially because forecasted weather conditions, particularly the wind speed, didnt trigger the psps protocol. Additionally the transmission tourre noted in the report as part of pg es wildfire and Safety Inspection program, so with regards to the most recent event, still a fluid situation and well able to share more information as soon as we have that. We are also hearing from the press democrat, a report about a fire, structure fire, southwest of sonoma near arnold drive. Witnesses saw sparks coming from power lines that may have started the fire. Thats according to a chp dispatch report. Are you on that one . Pg e has been stood up to support the kincade fire. Theres a partial access has been granted for patrol on the ground only. About 100 people in the area and again, i dont have specific information to share for you with regard to these incidents at the moment right now, but i can tell you we are on the ground actively working with cal fire nd ensure that we can continue to keep our customers as safe as possible up there. Paul, i think what people may not understand is throughout the bay area, people even far away from the fire are losing power. Theyre sitting in the dark. And they think okay this is also that we can prevent fires from sparking due to power lines that may come down or transmission lines. Why is it that there are still events happening in the zones in the immediate area where there are lines that are still not deenergized where you have this event happening and more fires starting . Well, thats great question. Our Transmission System is in the scope for the pg e for the where winds would need to be high for our 230 kilo volt and 500 kilo volt line to be considered for psps just due to the transmission lines ability to withstand higher winds, transmission equipment has not been impacted as much by psps events because the structure tends to be made from steel to withstand higher winds. If its determined we need a transmission line to deenergize for safety pg e works with the California Independent operator to assess impact from the ridge but our goal is the sole purpose of the psps events is to prevent the catastrophic wildfires weve seen over the last couple years and thats our key emphasis here is what were trying to accomplish with these. As these events pop up, were learning about them, were responding as quickly and safely as possible. Should those thresholds be changed because the transmission towers, i get it, they can withstand more, but were talking about gusts of 90 Miles Per Hour right now, so are you saying the threshold is higher than that and if it is should that be reconsidered . Were always looking at ways that we can improve upon these sort of psps events. We understand these impact our customers. We appreciate their patience as we go through this. These are events impacting our friends, family, colleagues as well and s were all looking at ways that we can continue to improve, looking at different operational techniques we can take. As we talked about previously, some of our press conferces weve begun to use sectionalization and being able to install more sectionalizing devices that can really make this a more surgical approach to how we deenfer guise lines. When it comes to the criteria for turning off transmission lines versus distribution lines, those are things that we will theres a standard set of criteria as it is. We may look at those going forward. We recognize that there is more work to do here and strive to ensure ha as many of our circuits as possible are in service. We want to minimize for customers the shutoff impacts. Paul, thank you so much for that information. I think bottom line people want to know theyre sacrificing and suffering without their power so why are we hearing about incidents of fires starting because of transformers or transmission towers in the line of these huge wind events which lisa, i know youre about to talk about because were talking about unprecedented wind and in outage areas weve got transformers on, transmission towers on. Right. The winds are so erratic, theyre gusty and you get by the fires and it is anyones guess. The embers can go out a mile and start new fires. The culprit, a cold system to the east of us creating the tight pressure gratent, winds goff 1,000 feet. Knoxville creek 61 miles an hour, mount tam 31 miles an hour. Look at the delta, very gusty, sun coming up at 7 27. Getting a better view of the situation. As we look throughout the day today the winds will continue to gust. Our high wind warning, wind advisory and red flag warning through tomorrow. All right. Thank you so much, lisa. And we do have continuing coverage this morning at 7 00.
