See who would be out and when. This is the map. Im showing you San Francisco here, and the east bay. These are areas not yet affected. We dont expect San Francisco to be affected at all or the rest of San Francisco county. Thats the only county untouched by this event. Already parts of marin are being affected. If i click now on sausalito, the pink areas that you see on the map are the areas that already have outages. Heres one area in sausalito, when you click on that, you can see that about 3,700 people are affected there. The one issue with this map is it does not total the entire bay area. Its difficult to see how many people are out as one large number. You have to go through and pick and choose the areas. A moment ago we heard frances say parts of napa county have been affected. If you go up into the north bay, you can click and see what areas have been affected. I will click on the city of napa now. You can see there are a number of spots that are now out. This is the major thoroughfare for commuters going from oakland and the San Francisco areas. There have been signs that have gone up saying the caldecott tunnel may close at noon. We have been in touch with caltrans. They are saying at this point they are trying to get generators in place in time. Say the power does go off at noon, they hope to have the generators in place so they can run the emergency systems that go along with the tunnel. There are lights and fans which are about ventilation. In case there is a fire in the tunnel, they need to have those fans operational. This is really up in the air for folks going to work as to whether theyll be able to get back this afternoon through the tunnels any way. Other things happening in the east bay, people have been going to hardware stores, picking up supplies, batteries, flashlights, anything they might not already have in their homes. And were able within our own system to shift power around. So if we lose pg e power to one of those switching stations, we can simply draw power from somewhere else in our grid. But if any b. A. R. T. Station does lose power, there are generators there. The escalators may stop working with y but lights should still be on. No lights off in the south bay yet. If the power goes out so will the traffic lights. Inoperative Traffic Signals are a concern for vta. Outages could disrupt schedules for its 400 buses. We expect if there are Power Outages in certain parts of town that affect traffic lights, thats going to affect our bus service. Were hoping people will just be patient with us. Looking at some of the outages weve been seeing in the north bay, these started aftert another round. Im looking at the pg e website, you will see an area at the top of the page where you can eventually get to this website. Any time you hit any of the pink markers, that is one of the outages that has been started as a part of this preventive measure to hopefully not have wildfires. What youre looking at here is the city of sonoma. Every one of these pink areas will be a separate outage. There, there are 3,200 people out of power. The area next to it, near mission highlands, 3,400 people without power. 2,200 people without power near vineberg. And if we zoom out again, in napa, the city of napa, a bunch of outages. This is only 41. If you add these all up, it adds up to several thousand people. Wish pg e would total these numbers so we can get an ongoing talley, but wishes and dreams, kumasi. Wishes and dreams. Hopefully soon. So Governor Newsom says we should be outraged about pg es decision to turn off the power. Rate payered ed ed ed advocate forced outages shows pg e doesnt have confidence in their own work. Sheltered areas where a lot of us live will be cool. Temperatures in the mid 40s in our valleys, low to mid 50s elsewhere. Up in the hills, mid 50s and mid 60s. Warmer there because of the winds. Also remember the humidity will drop heading throughout the day. It will be extremely dry tonight. Heres why my biggest concern is tonight. 7 00 this morning, our winds are fastest up in the sacramento valley. As we head towards noon, you can see them try to push into the north bay. But its not really until 8 00 tonight, and then peaking at 3 00 tomorrow morning. Thats when well have the fastest winds. Heading through the morning commute, it will be windy everywhere. Yesterday we told you that marin county would be one of two counties not touched by this pg e planned outage. That turned out not to be the case. Pg e revised that and said marin county would be included. San francisco county not included. I do have our map from pg e, which is focused on marin county. The largest area youll see out tanls s outages in now, thats not the area. Thats nine people. If you go closer to sausalito, there are approximately 4,000 people who are waking up to no power this morning. Again, this is just the first wave of people being shut off. We expect that number to go up quite a bit by the time we get into the as. Thanks. One of the biggest lifelines in a power outage can be your cell phone. If you plan ahead you can store up electricity while you have it. Heres some things to maybe think about. Charge up yrou cell phones to the max while you can along with laptops and tablets. Get external batteries for your phone and charge those fully as well. Also you can charge up old laptops and use them as extra charge for your cell phone. And dont forget to turn down the brightness on your cell phone because that will help to extend the battery life. If you have an electric car, dont forget to power that u no you can. Lets pinpoint some areas where the weather will turn extreme. The fire index here. Very high at 7 00. Right between napa and fairfield or napa and cordelia. Those areas will also stay very high while the extreme weather for fire conditions cannots. Look at all that red across the north bay. That should get your attention.
