He failed to bring his Service Weapon that night. Also today, the iteam obtained a copy of the Investigation Report of the incident. Dan noyes has the story this 213page report lays out the case against the young men and the questions about the handling of what began as a simple theft. Case. Prosecutors in rome say andrea bare alley is under investigation for failure to care ir out his duties. He now admits neither he nor his partner had their Service Weapons the Early Morning of july 26th as they met to bay area teens. Gabriel natali is held as a possible accessory to murder. Finn elder admitted stabbing the officer to death. I spoke about facing his own investigation. He lied about having a gun. He didnt have a gun. He lied about them both showing their badges. We know for a fact that they didnt have a badge. The investigative report obtained by the abc 7 iteam traces the steps leading to that fatal fight. Investigators say it began in the Entertainment District when hf on Duty Officers spotted natali using his cell phone light to find a foil packet. It turned out to be a single pill of acetaminophen. Natali had been ripped off while trying to buy cocaine. Natali gave the foil packet to the officers and bolted as seen on video. Finn elder picked up a backpack owned by a man who Police Identified as a known pusher. Hes the bald muscular man in this photo contained in the police report. When the teens got back to the hotel room, the reported pusher called a cell phone in the backpack and negotiated an exchange with gabe natali who speaks fluent italian. The investigative report says between the two suspects, natali was the most charismatic assuming the dominant position not only when negotiating the return of the backpack and it claims natali searched for the best Meeting Place to avoid cameras. Gabe is a terrible leader looking out for cameras. There was a camera watching him the whole time. The whole idea that he staked the area out and looked for cameras is comical. I asked natalis father and his attorneys to comment. But they declined. Gathering inconsistencies in the investigative report speak for themselves and we dont see a need to make a Public Statement at this juncture. He and elder hid the backpack in the planter box at the hotel and scoped out the street, ducking behind cars at times. In a final call, the reported pusher assured the scenes he was coming alone. It was a surprise when two larger men appeared at the street corner. Then elders attorney tells me the boys tried to run. The assault by the two, ensues and the boys defend themselves. Finn is on the ground with cher chel i regular a on top of him and trying to defend himself and had the knife and used the knife to try to get the man off of him. Failed to call in the location of their meeting with the teens. The dispatcher thought they were at a location three kilometers away. The confusion delayed the ambulance response. It took more than 15 minutes for one to arrive as regulara bled out. He died later at the hospital. Police tracked the teens back to the hotel using surveillance on the street and in the hotel and in the Ceiling Panel similar to the one i saw one floor above, investigators found this knife and bloody clothing. In addition to the photos, the report contains links to many videos and recordings of the phone and radio traffic. So many pieces to put together for the prosecutors and for the defense teams.
