Now the church and one of its stars, danny masterson, are both being sued. Four women claim masterson sexually assaulted them, and he conspired with the church to allegedly cover up the assaults and stalk and harass them. This morning, a lawsuit against the church of scientology and one of its high profile members, the actor, danny masterson. The complaint which the plaintiffs Attorney Says the actor known for that 70s show. The teachers like him, counsellors like him. I hate him. Reporter when they reported mastersons crimes, he and the church systematically stalked, harassed and invaded their families privacy and intensely caused them Emotional Distress to silence and intimidate them. One of the women named in the suit, marie babbett, says she started dating masterson in 2002 and believes that on numerous occasions he would drug her drinks so that he could Sexual Assault her while she slept. She reported the alleged assault to authorities in 2017. Another named plaintiff, claimed masterson was controlling and violent when they lived together as a couple in the mid 90s claiming he once dragged her naked across the bedroom floor while berating her appearance after she refused to have sex with him. She alleges several years later on one occasion, masterson drugged and sexually assaulted her while she was unconscious. She says when she told the church about the assault, she was led to believe that if she went to law enforcement, she would be subjected to the harsh treatment of enemies against scientology. But in 2016, bixler did just that. The lawsuit claims that after going to authorities, bixler and the other plaintiffs were subjected to years of harassment by the church, abuse bixler says continues to this day. It includes everything from flashing lights in your windows in the middle of the night to breaking windows even of a childs room. It is unsettling. Its disturbing, and its just not limited to the home. Reporter overnight, the church of scientology emphatically denying these accusations, telling us, this baseless lawsuit will go nowhere because the claims are ludicrous and a sham. Masterson has previously said all sexual encounters with his accusers were consensual and hes never been charged of a crime, let alone convicted of one. In a statement from his lawyer, masterson called the lawsuit, quote, beyond ridiculous. He went on to say, once her lawsuit is thrown out, i intend to sue her and the others who jumped on the bandwagon for the damage they caused me and my family. Guys, back to you. The scammers have worked their way up the search results with phony numbers for Real Companies and it may be difficult for your smart device to recognize it. The bbc says to recognize a scammer, they ask you to pay by Wire Transfer or Prepaid Debit Card. I miss the days of the phone book, i guess. What can people do to avoid falling victim to this . They say, be careful when searching for numbers. Now her tragic death should serve as a reminder to parents and coaches to stay vigilant, especially because there is no national law regulating the number of breaks or access to water during High School Athletic events. Reporter they say the 11th grade basketball player was practicing outside, running up bleachers on a hot georgia day when the heat index was 106. Her skin was just hot, like, a stove and her body was stiff. They had ice packs on her. Reporter bell was overcome by heat, rushed to the hospital and later died. While an autopsy is pending, her parents speaking to our affiliate, wsb in atlanta, say they want answers. Why were they outside . The temperature was above 100. To imagine my child running in that, and that was the first day of conditioning. Reporter the Clayton County School District is releasing little information, saying, we are very saddened by the loss of one of our students. Our team is working diligently to determine more details relative to this matter. Its just the latest heatrelated death in what has been a scorcher of a summer. On monday a 74yearold mississippi woman died of heatinduced heart attack while mowing her lawn. The heat index peaked at a sweltering 112. On average, extreme heat kills 600 people in the u. S. Every year. Heat exhaustion and heatstroke are medical emergencies. Heat exhaustion may cause people to feel nauseated, lightheaded and dizzy. She lost more than 100 pounds in her early 20s, so when her doctor told her weight loss was the solution to a health problem, this new mom listened to her body. A decision she believes saved her life. Wow, look at you. Reporter this morning, jen curran and her husband kevin cherishing every moment with their 6monthold baby girl rose. This is also bittersweet because jen is battling cancer. Oh, hello. Its chemo day. Reporter during her second trimester, her Blood Pressure was high and her o. B. Detected a high amount of protein in her urine. She was quickly diagnosed with the pregnancy complication preeclamplsia. She was put on bed rest. My reaction was let me stay relaxed because of this baby. I definitely put it out of my mind. Reporter two months after the babys safe arrival, her Blood Pressure was back to normal. But the specialist observed her protein level was even higher than it had been during pregnancy. The doctors prescription, lose weight. It was like a slap across the face because as someone who has been overweight for on and off most of my life, it hasnt been a health issue for me. I didnt feel like i should argue with her. Reporter she wanted to follow doctors orders, but her instinct told her this wasnt a problem that could be solved in the kitchen. She wanted a second opinion. She wanted answers, but she wasnt prepared for what they would find. Shocking, completely shocking. I have this memory of him telling me that i have bone marrow cancer, but i dont feel like im in the same room with him. If you have some intuitive feeling that something isnt right, definitely get a second opinion. Reporter now jen is speaking out on twitter to encourage others to be their own advocate too, writing, lose weight if you want to but if you think something is seriously wrong with your body, go get a second opinion. You have donated more than 1 million, which is pretty remarkable, to Chicago Public schools. You have committed donating another Million Dollars to Chicago Mental Health services. Yeah. Why is Mental Health care such an important issue for you . Mental health and Mental Wellness are extremely important to me and everybody because we all know people that are affected by it. We can all be affected by it, and recently my nonprofit social works donated 1 million toward the my state of mind initiative. So six different Mental Health facilities, orthodox and unorthodox in chicago all received 100,000, and we just started a brandnew pipeline for all the different Mental Health facilities in chicago to have directory for anybody that needs to gain access. Phenomenal. We need that more than ever now. Thank you for your service, and youre also obviously dedicated to the importance of education. Specifically, you support the Public School system because you say education is the most important investment anyone can make. What do you hope to accomplish . I just hope to close the disparity between the funding gaps in some of the, you know, wealthier districts and some of the not as well off districts. I dont know. Its national television, but yeah. Breathe in through your nose, and exhale out through your mouth, and youre going to focus on your breath, breathing in for four, one, two, three, four. Exhale through the mouth.
