By 8 00 back into the 50s and 60s. At least nine people were killed in dayton ohio when a gunman opened fire in a part of town thats filled request bars and restauranted. Abcs maggie rulli is here with more neuro this morning at least nine dead, dozen injured after a shooting in dayton, ohio. We have got shots fired. We have multiple people down. We are going to need multiple medics. Reporter one man capturing the sound of gunfire as he sat in his car. Nine or ten shot. Reporter police say the man armed with body armor and armed with a long gun opened fire at 1 00 a. M. As people were out at restaurants and bars in a popular part of downtown. This is a very safe part of downtown. Reporter officers quickly responded, quickly responded. We have several down. Reporter paramedics rushing to give first aid to victims some victims out of the street. Most of us cant get to our cars because there were baeds scattered all over across the street from our cars. We cant people that were shot, hit, innocent people. Reporter Police Killing the gunman. We are working on identifying the suspect to see what the possible motivation might have been. Reporter the community is left in shock. We cant get home to our families now. And now those people arent going home to their families either. The Convention Center in town has been set up as a staging area for family members to try to meet up with their loved ones. We keep hearing this was an area that was known for being safe, it was a popular tourist destination. Now the Community Says they are in disbelief. Maggie rulli, abc news, new york. The shooter has been identified as Connor Steven betts of ohio. Nancy pelosi issued a statement on daytons deadly shooting saying in less than 24 hours another American Community has been devastated by the tragedy of gun violence. Our hearts make for the families and friends of those injured and murdered. We are learning more information about the second deadly mass shooting at a walmart in he wiel paso text. 20 dead, 26 wounded ranging in age from 2 to 82. Years old. The suspect is patrick crewsious. He was booked on capital murder charges. They were looking at whether this was a hate crime and looking at posts on social media. Stories of heroism are beginning to emerge. A sergeant says he is licensed to carry. He had his weapon with him and thought about rushing toward that gunfire. This enhe saw a group of children nearby and opted to protect them. I was worried about the kids. I wasnt worried about myself. There were so many kids running around. I was thinking if i had a child if i wasnt around how i would want another adult to react. I grabbed as many kids as possible and made it out. In response to the praise he received he says his actions were quote what he was supposed to do. From politicians, beto rouk cut a visit short and headed back to texas and visited victims in a hospital. So many families, so many extraordinary people, so much hope in that waiting room right now. So much strength from the individual icu rooms that we got to be in. Again, it makes me incredibly proud of el paso and of these people, these survivors. But they are also asking us to do something about this. Yes, it is the gun laws, yes, it is the universal background checks, and yes we should stop selling weapons of war into our communities. But i think we also have to confront this hatred. California congressional represent diane fine steen and nancy pelosi put out statements yesterday condemning the shooting and calling for gun control legislation. President trump tweeted last night saying todays shooting in El Paso Texas was not only tragic. It was an act of cowardice, i know i stand with everyone in this country to condemn todays hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people. Naurnl and i accepted our heart felt grief and prayers to the people of texas. We stand by everyone affected by this incident and conmend the response. Sfpd says there are no known threats but officers will be passing through certain traffic areas of San Francisco. Investigators say the gunmen opened fire with as many as 3,000 people this the shopping center. This morning he has been charged with capital murder. T. J. Parker is in el paso. Reporter we got an update from one of the hospitals where 11 victims went yesterday. Hospital officials telling us that now only three people are in critical condition. The rest of them are stable. And investigators are still out here. They say it is still very much a large crime scene inside of that walmart. El paso and the nation remembering the victims this morning. Investigators are focusing on a hatefilled manifesto which appeared just minutes before the first 911 call about the of the shooting. Right now we have a manifesto which has a nexus to potential hate crime. Reporter the suspected shooter is in police custody. He allegedly opened fire at a walmart. The state of texas is going to work side by side with the city of el paso and with all of these victims to do everything we can to help repair their lives and put them back on a path of hope. Reporter now police still have a lot of witnesses to talk to, and new this morning we have learn through the El Paso Texas case records that suspected shooter Patrick Crusius is now charged with capital murder. People are still arriving at Christmas Hill park, the scene of last sundays tragedy at the gilroy garlic festival to get their things. Part of the venue is still a crime scene. It takes a lot of effort and a lot of people have arranged their schedules to tear the festival down and get it ready to be a park again. Three people died. A least a dozen were wounded. On friday the coroner announced the gunman died of a selfinflicted gunshot wound. Abc news was at the festival of the arts. Security was on the minds of organizers and police. Special precautions were taken this year including the installation of security cameras, a watch tower, barriers to stop speeding cars and officers patrolling the venue with higher fire power. Reporter police in rome say elder and his friend from the bay area, Natalie Morales on july 26th went to the night light district to buy cocaine and that a milled man with a backpack directed hthem to a dealer. But an offduty officer interrupted. The officer was stabbed 11 times. The officer who we understand at the time of his death was acting as a plain clothes paramilitary officer is gone too soon. This is a tragedy. All the fires started overnight friday into saturday morning forcing families to grab their belongings and evacuate their homes. Abc7 news reports. Reporter 12 fires off marsh creek and Morgan Territory roads left Fire Fighters scrambling to get ahead of the flames. Cal fire brought in air support to help the 400 firefighters on the ground. These fires moved fast and eventually rolled into three larger fires called the marsh complex fire. The three large fires are holding at 165 acres. Reporter the cause of the fire is still under investigation though some of the area claim to have heard small explosions in the predawn hours. The fire started here and spread six square miles. It didnt cross marsh creek road. But it did get within a few hundred feet the clayton palms community. Everyone there was forced to evacuate. I could see the flames behind my house. I grabbed the kids, put them in their car seats. Reporter First Responders went door to door at 4 00 in the morning. I heard somebody saying fire, you need to evacuate. Reporter hours later, residents got the all clear sign to return home. The only thing on their minds was gratitude. None of us was prepared for this. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The hour long drills start at 9 00 this morning. They are about 20 minutes underway in the elmwood neighborhood. Teams are going door to door. All southbound lanes of highway 101 shut down after a deadly crash. It happened just before 4 40 this morning. The driver of a box truck was taken to stanford hospital where he died after rear ending a palo alto fire truck which was responding to a different crash. Hazmat crews are working to clean up 100 gallons of diesel that spilled onto the roadway there. A detour is in place. The road isnt expected to reopen until this afternoon. The person was taken into custody without incident and no Law Enforcement personnel fired their weapons. Reporter officials tell us the alleged shooter is 21yearold Patrick Crusius from allen texas also saying that an ak47 style rifle and several magazines were at the scene. A sacramento area is celebrating one of the oldest living veterans in the country who served in three wars. Nathan allen jr. Turns 100 years old on august 12th. He joined the military more than 75 years ago. He served in world war ii, and the korean and vietnam wars. I was a firefighter in the army for 27 years. If there was a fire, you go to the fire and do your job. Now, allen spends his days with family. Hes got 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren. The war vet has also helped his neighbors in the last decade by pulling their trash bins to the curb. On, housing prices thank to, drum roll please, money from tech. Around 2000, the first tech bubble home prices in San Francisco did go up to a median price of more than 500,000. Fast forward a little over ten years. And thats when things really took of to. 2012 was the year facebook went public. The next year, twitter did. Statement housing prices skyrocketed. In the past seven years, the median home price in San Francisco has more than doubled. The same has happened in cities across the bay area. What did you say .
