This morning, rising concern from Health Officials about teen vaping after a series of hospitalizations in wisconsin. I truly think its a Public Health concern. Reporter doctors at a milwaukee hospital announcing that eight teens were hospitalized with severe lung damage in the last month and say the common link, they all vaped. The hospital wont say if the teens vaped tobacco or something else, but the hospital says the teens reported vaping from several weeks to several months prior to being admitted. Officials say the names and types of products used remain unknown but patient interviews are ongoing. Only one of the patients is still being hospitalized, but doctors are concerned. The symptoms appear to be much more acute than those of teens smoking cigarettes. In pediatrics we rarely see effects from typical or traditional combustible problems because theyre more long term than short term. Reporter theyre still gathering information on what connection there may be among these eight cases, if any. The new development coming on the same day that lawmakers grilled the cofounder of the nations leading ecigarette company, juul. Dr. Whitney bowe is here with us. Tell us about the study. Weve known if you have a parent or sibling with melanoma it puts you at increased risk. This also suggests it puts you at risk for squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma so important to know your Family History. You know, when you go to see your derm, tell your derm if you have anybody who has been diagnosed with a melanoma because theyll scanor mom buta on your study it will be on the sign for any skin cancer. What else should we be looking for. Look for melanoma in particular, the ab, c, d and em, asymmetry, meaning the two sides of the mole dont match, b has to do with the border. The border is irregular, thats concerning. C is color. Multiple color, different shades in the same mole, that is caused for concern. D is diameter. We used to tell them to look for something larger than the size of a pencil eraser, were catching them earlier than that so i stress e, evolution or change. Anything thats bleeding, itchy, changing, schedule an appointment. Do not ignore it. Go to your dermatologist. Thank you. What other ways to prevent. Sunscreen, spf 30 or above. Look for Broad Spectrum and reapply so every two hours you have to reapply and use enough. You know, most people need about this amount to cover their skin. And they use about half of what they need so youre not getting the spf on the label. But also sun protective clothing so a broad rimmed hat, sunglasses, long sleeves and ideally seek shade when the sun is at its peakment take a little siesta. Not a bad idea. Important reminders. Lets go to cecilia. We turn to an issue that a lot of women have faced. A recent article in the New York Times reveals about eight out of ten women are wearing the wrong bra size. So we went sent two women shopping and we discovered what it really takes to find the right fit. When it comes to bras, one size definitely does not fit all. I think i know that im a 32c. You have no idea what you are. Reporter its not because the sizes are wrong but because women still dont understand the three key aspects of finding the perfect bra. Its completely common to be a 34c is one and 32d in another. And last when trying on a new bra, always fasten the middle hook when testing the fit.
