This time around there could be many others which will be taking on much stricter requirements. This is being reported by the San Francisco examiner. With this vote, the sfmta will be able to draw the map of where the Scooter Companies can operate. Previously companies drew their own maps which led to scooters being concentrated in wealthier downtown areas. The sfmta is hoping the put a greater focus on lower income communities. The stricter requirements will include a locking mechanism to lock the scooters to bike racks.
