Our coverage will certainly continue at the tanforan mall in san bruno where two people have been injured in a mall shooting that happened just before 4 00 this afternoon and two suspects, two gunmen are believed to be at large still with a lockdown at the mall. A tense situation. We continue to cover it from all angles. Kristen, i know youll be in th the newsroom working this story. As we continue our coverage of this breaking news situation at the san bruno mall, the tanforan mall. Two people injured, taken to San Francisco General Hospital which is a level 1 Trauma Center where most shooting victims go in San Francisco to get excellent care. Two other people who were injured but not shot apparently, maybe knocked down, trampled, hurt in the confusion in some way. Refused medical treatment, did not need medical treatment apparently despite an initial report they had gone to two other hospitals. That may not be the case. We do know the two people who were most seriously injured were 15 and 18 years of age and are in critical and serious condition respectively. So they were previously hurt in this shooting. Dion lim joining us now. What we do know is that the other two people who were injured, we do not know the circumstances. However, Law Enforcement alluding to perhaps this was a trampling situation. They were treated, refused treatment further at a hospital and were then released. But again, we are focusing really on the suspect. We did hear from Oakland Police along with San Bruno Police about potential young man wearing a green hooded sweatshirt that is the suspect they are choosing to focus on right now. Legs lets go to abc 7 News Reporter Lisa Amin Galician who is live for us on the south side of tanforan mall. Shes been reporting to us for some time. As we try to get her signal up. Lets see if shes ready. She may not be ready. Give me a headsup when shes ready well go to her. Shes been doing some terrific reporting. Hearing from a number of witnesses that she spoke with including two or three store clerks who described hearing four gunshots. Weve heard that repeatedly. Four gunshots. Thats what weve heard witnesses describe. And then describing people running past their shops as they got the people who were inside their stores to come in. They shut the gate. Youve seen those gates at the mall that they can close. And they turned off the lielths and they hid. Kind of a textbook way to respond in a shooter situation. Just to wait for the all clear, wait to be told its safe. Well get to lisa aminute galician in a moment. First lets get to abc 7 News Reporter unsar hassan. Currently at the 12th street bart station which is back open 37 reporter passengers say they saw police draw their weapons and head down to the 12th street bart station which is underground and evacuate the station as you mentioned the station has been reopened. Oakland police say they had a solid lead that a suspect or possible suspects were say they were given a suspect description so they knew who they were looking for. They havent released any of those descriptions because this is an Ongoing Investigation. But officer watson did tell me they did find a weapon at one of the oakland stations. Bart did find a weapon, and were not going to go into the details of exactly where. Again, we have a suspect that were keeping our mind open. Was it a suspect or suspects . But we do have information on a suspect that would be in connection with the shooting down in san bruno. Reporter now, officer watson says no arrest was made, that the area is safe but they will continue to monitor and police the area for a while longer. Ancer hassan, abc 7 news. Lets go back to Lisa Amin Galician on the other side of the buy at the stan fran mall in san bruno where she has been speaking with a number of people who witnessed the shooting. Lisa, what have you heard in the last few minutes since we last spoke with you . Reporter dan, in just the last few minutes in fact jcpenneys let out all the people that they had on lockdown. They were in there for 30 to 40 minutes if you can believe it. They just recently got out of that store. They were sitting there, many in the dark. The entire store locked down. And they didnt even know whowhat had been going on in the rest of the mall. But i do want to bring in paula silva, who was in the Barnes Nobles. And she knows exactly what was going on inside of the store where she was. Tell us what happened. So i saw a lot of people running toward the outside of the mall by the Barnes Nobles area. It looked like they were coming from the Food Court Area just because thats the only other exit in the mall that is not a store exit. So everyone was just running out towards the outside of the mall. And those that ran toward your store, how did you guys react . So at first i just saw younger kids running into the store and i thought they were going to you know, just messing around, little kids. But then i heard one of them saying that someone was shooting and so i started telling them to walk outside of through the back. And we start lock the doors and turning the lights off. Reporter and you had everyone go to your stock room, is that right . Yes. I told everyone to just motion toward the stock room. So that we could be hidden there and it looked like no one was in the store. If we all just stayed back there. Reporter so you guys were hiding in the dark in the back stockroom and waiting for police, i guess. Yes. We were just waiting. Thankfully, my coworkers dad was there. And he kept peeking outside. And he was able to communicate with a couple of the Police Officers and asked them if we could come out yet and stuff like that until we finally told us that it was okay to come out, and we came out toward the front of the note toward the barnes noble area. What was the look on peoples faces as they were running toward you and they were hiding with you . They were scared. You could tell that they were really, really afraid. A couple of the people that were inside my store in the stock room, they were really worried and they were shaking. It was just panic really. Reporter and for you, what was the fear like . I was pretty scared. I tried not to show it as much. I think seeing everyone else be that worried kind of kept me calm. But it was scary for sure. And paula, hearing that two people were shot, two very young people, the look on your face when i told you that was very sad. Anyone getting shot in general is sad to hear. But the fact they were such young kids, i have a younger brother too. I would never want to hear Something Like that happened to him. Reporter paula silva joining us. Thank you so much for taking some time to speak with us today. There is still a Large Police Presence here but many officers have left. But there are officers here from menlo park, from south San Francisco, from San Francisco, chp, and many are still armed. In fact, the group of officers over our right shoulder, they have rifles and they are still Walking Around the barnes noble store, the b. J. s restaurant. Theyre still assessing the situation. And as i mentioned, the lockdown just got lifted over at the jcpenneys. There were a lot of people that were in that store for 30 to 40 minutes not knowing what was going on. It was only once they exited that i told them that there was a shooting or shootings had taken place and they didnt hear anything. That store is on the east side of the mall. Very far from the Food Court Area where much of the activity was taking place. The two men that i spoke with said that they were just in there shopping getting tshirts and so forth and suddenly were told to just lock down and come inside the store. They werent given any other information. They werent given any instructions other than to just come inside and they waited. They waited for 30 minutes until they got the all clear sign and they came out of the store and took an uber and went home like nothing had happened. Because this area has cleared out quite a bit. Officers are starting to leave, maybe go to another side of the mall. But this side of the mall has a lot less activity. For now we are live here at tanforan mall, lisa a gulezian. People said it seemed like a marathon people running so quickly to the exits trying to get out of that mall. Lets get back to abc 7 News Reporter Melanie Woodrow, who is now at the staging area in south San Francisco near the mall. Melanie, i know you spoke with san brunos police chief a little bit earlier. What do you know now . Reporter dion, the police chief says investigators are hip deep in this investigation. What they know for certain is that this was not a random active shooter situation. They say these shooters had some type of intent or motive. They say there were two separate shooters that were shooting either at each other or at somebody else using handguns. And we know tonight that there are two gunshot victims with lower extremity gunshot wounds. Thats per the fire chief as youve been saying. They are believed to be possibly 15 and 18 years old. Two other people were treated and released here on the scene though its not clear what their injuries were. We also heard reports that these suspects had possibly run in the direction of bart. Tonight Police Investigators are still looking for the suspect or suspects. They say they believe theyre looking for two men and the only description they can give us is that one of them was possibly wearing a green sweatshirt with a hood. San bruno police chief ed barberini described the Police Presence and response here this afternoon. Heres what he had to say. The response was very timely. It was immediate. I have no doubt, and ill let the fire chief address it on both the police and the fire side, that it probably contributed to saving lives and successful resolution from a Public Safety perspective as far as the response goes. But were still right in the middle of it. And that response continues where the search is being conducted at both the mall, which is a large building, as you can imagine, and the surrounding parking lots is being conducted in teams of Police Officers that are combined Police Officers all over the county here. Here very appreciative of that. But everythings working like its supposed to work. The fire chief says that the city just recently had active Shooter Training. They believe that absolutely made a difference here this afternoon. Investigators are with the victims at the hospital. Right now of course if theyre able to speak theyll be looking to get any sort of statements from those victims that could help with this investigation. And certainly those investigators that are over at the mall had been also speaking with witnesses. Now, i did ask about Surveillance Video, and the police chief says there is Surveillance Video and hes very hopeful that when a press release goes out here shortly to all of the media that they will be able to include either a picture or a couple of pictures possibly of the suspect or suspects and that will be of course to help them as they are intently look live in san bruno, Melanie Woodrow, abc 7 news. All right, melanie. We will stay on top of that and bring you that suspect description, perhaps a possible photo, as soon as we can. In this day and age theres always going to be Surveillance Video and photos in almost every situation. So we look forward to passing that along to you. We talked about the two people taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. Apparently 15, 18er Lyanne Melendez is there live and has been there almost from the beginning. Lyanne . Reporter well, dan, right after the shooting San Francisco General Hospital was put on alert. They told them that two victimsv were of the hospital, that the two victims are juveniles. You guys have been giving different ages. He only told me that they are teens. He couldnt give me any more information. One is in critical condition, the other one in serious condition. Both as i mentioned before are male. Now let me tell you what is going on right now. After they arrived here a team of doctors was assembled. This is what they really know how to do really well. Doctors examined the wounds. The two young men were then taken to get a ct scan to see with accuracy where b at m follow. Th wt th hospi had we practice for this all the time. We are the citys only level 1 Trauma Center. So we tend to get a lot of gunshot victims here. So sadly, we get a lot of practice at it. Reporter so we dont know if they have been into surgery. That is something that the hospitalperson the family members are here. I havent seen them, but im good ohhing hospital bet investigators are also hear gather any new information which could bery very important to this case. Were going to have updates for you were told by the hospital as needed. Live at sf general in San Francisco Lyanne Melendez, abc 7 news. All right, lyanne, thanks very much. On abc 7 news at 4 00 we spoke live with a woman who works at the mall in b. J. s restaurant. She shared the video youre seeing right now of when they went into lockdown and talked about what it was like. Its kind real like dont like you know, you always hear stories like shooting and stuff and you always imagine what are you going to do if that ever happens. It just its kind of like a blur. Like dont even know what youre goehin the ll stay away from the windows and see everyone running. We also had guests inside the restaurant and they all had to come into the kitchen with us because we decided that was safest to stay awith a frantdic situation. It happens in the moment. You cant comprehend exactly whats occurring and you try to react as best you can. Thats what we heard from one witness after another in this situation. You see some Law Enforcement officials on the ground right now. We are getting a closer look as our crews are able to access the mall. Still in lockdown, however. Something to keep in mind. We do want to take a look at some video from the scene from the citizen app. You can tell just based on what youre hearing, a lot of chaos. And those sirens going off in the background. An example of the tremendous Police Presence on the ground at the tanforan mall. And weve seen now more video is starting to emerge from this scene as you look at the tanforan mall and this quick, Quick Response by dozens and dozens of police and firefighters and people took out their cell phones and began taking this video which were now beginning to see. Again, weve heard witnesses describe four shots. There were two or three different witnesses who described four shots. They heard pop, pop, pop, pop. We havent heard any confirmation from police as to how many shots were actually fired but we do know that two people were hit by those shots and taken to San Francisco General Hospital where we just heard from Lyanne Melendez. One is in serious condition, the other in critical condition. And quite hair rogue to listen to the witnesses who were inside the mall at the time when this happened. Weve been seeing video on twitter. There is one of what we presume to be a young man, one of the victims, between 15 and 18 years old, being carried out on some sort of makeshift stretcher by some Good Samaritans perhaps in the mall and also hearing the accounts of it being like a marathon. People running for their lives. We heard from that one employee of the Barnes Noble Book seller store saying she and her coworkers hid in a stock room and turned off the lights in fear. One of those witnesses described a marathon, probably meant to say sprint because thats what it would seem to be like. A mad panic to get out as fast as you possibly can. These are pictures from sky 7. Video of the scene within about 15, 20 minutes, half an hour of this happening. The first call went out at 3 56. A little over almost 2 1 2 hours ago now. These are pictures as police begin to respond, surround the wall. S. W. A. T. Team members trailed by a couple of uniformed officers. As they move into position, trying to assess exactly what the risk is. Is there still someone firing shots . How many people firing shots . How many people have been injured . Yeah. And we do have even more citizen app video that we can provide to you. If we can take a look at that right now, you can see this is from a different Vantage Point, a little bit further away in the parking lot. But in the distance you can see all of those sirens and those lights that are just flashing. 360 view right now to show that these Police Officials were really just swarming the area in all directions. Well, and whats interesting is san bruno is a vibrant growing community but its a pretty Small Police Department relatively speak. And same with the fire department. So they rely of course on something called mutual aid where other agencies nearby respond as well. And provide support and San Bruno Police just had three weeks ago an active Shooter Training exercise, a drill for much of the day and the police chief told us not long ago that that was extremely helpful in preparing them for what they face today. Even though this was not an active shooter, this was not someone walking into the mall and starting shooting people at random. This was some kind of an altercation and a couple of people, young men apparently pulled out guns each other. And two people were wounded as a result. Nonetheless, the response is somewhat similar because at first they dont know exactly what theyre dealing with and they have to figure out what kind of a scene they are walking into zbrp what were seeing right now is even more citizen app video from another user where you can really see the scene in the moment. The video is shaking. They appear to be moving away from the scene rather frantically. Dan, you mentioned the multiple response from different agencies. We do know from our reporters on the scene that chp, sfpd, along with south San Francisco police were there in response, aiding san bruno. That relatively small agency. Thats right. And the response to the shooting has caused major bart delays, although some of those are being eased now. The san bruno station which backs up to the mall and is used by a lot of people who go to the tanforan mall remain shut down at this hour. A lot of teenagers take that train to get to the mall. There are buses running between the south San Francisco and sfo stations now because that part of the system has been disrupted. On the other side of the bay the 12th street station in oakland was closed for more than 30 minutes as police cleared a train to search for possible suspects related to the shooting. They had information that maybe one of these guys got on a train and somehow made it to the 12th street station area over in oakland. But police shut the station down, searched the street, above the station, the platform itself, and trains, cleared it, and decided that there was no more risk. No suspect was arrested. But that there was no danger to the traveling public commuting on the bart system through the area. San bruno police chief ed barberini mentioned to the reporter on the ground Melanie Woodrow that even though right now they have those two suspects there could very well be more. So certainly this is nowhere near a closed case as to who theyre looking for. But they do feel fairly confident at this point its two people. Its two people that they know for sure they are looking for. Lets go back to abc 7 News Reporter lisa aminu gulezian. Shes live at the tanforan mall with the witnesses and authorities. Lisa . Reporter dan, a lot of the officers have cleared out of this parking lot. Thats because theyre inside of the mall at this moment. They are checking the mall going store to store, room to room for people who are still hiegd, people who dont know its safe to come out at this point. So thats what theyre doing right now, trying to also at the same time gather evidence, gather witness statements, anything they can from inside of the mall. There was a very Large Police Presence outside where there were officers from chp, San Francisco police, Menlo Park Police and from the county that were here helping with all the witnesses, all the people that were running out of here just a few hours ago. And just a short time ago in fact the jsee store, the lockdown was lifted from there. There were people, patrons in that store for 30 to 40 minutes. They were m there not knowing why they were inside of the jcpenneys. And they were just in there waiting and eventually coming out. I spoke with two people who were told very little information. They recently got out, took an uber and went home not knowing what all the commotion was. I spoke with another woman who said that she was hiding in the stock room of barnes mobiles along with several other patrons just running to her from the Food Court Area. Heres what another witness had to say. Take a listen. Okay. So it looks like we dont have another interview from a witness but i have spoken with witnesses who said they were hiding in other store stockrooms, they were in the back of stores, turned the lights down, and really just hid in a crisis situation hiding in the dark hoping no one would come and find them until police eventually told them it was the all clear and they could come out and they in turn ran out of the mall as fast as they could because many heard the shots, they said they heard four shots, five shots, and they said it was like a pop, pop, pop, pop sound and panic set in. There were people who were very scared. There were people who were crying while they were lot of g at this mall this afternoon. Were live in tanforan mall, lisa amin gulezian. In those initial moments youd have no idea whats happening. Youd just know your life is suddenly perhaps in danger. Very frightening. Taking a look at some video from sky 7 from earlier this afternoon when those reports came in at about 4 00. You can see the Massive Police response, you can see the officers just running toward the mall right now in this video really trying to make sense in those first few moments of what was going on. We do know now that there were two victims in this two shot body. One apparently in critical condition, the other in serious condition. Now at San Francisco General Hospital. That was the update as of just about 30 minutes ago. We are also learning more about perhaps the weapon that was used in this situation. We did get early reports that there were rifles involved. But that does not seem to be the case. Law enforcement now telling us that possibly a handgun if not multiple handguns were used and this was not a random shooting. Two handguns used that they can say for certain. They found one handgun already. But two gunmen shooting at one another. Again, this was not a random shooting, no one walked in and just started shooting at innocent people without any reason. This was apparently some kind of altar kairks a couple of guns and started shooting. One critically injured, one seriously injured. And two other people injured, but they may have been knocked down, jostled, trampled in the rush to get out. They did not need treatment but they did suffer some minor injuries. Two people shot for sure. Sky 7 video the media staging area where different agencies had really just congregated trying to make sense their plan of attack in making sure everyone is safe, whether it be getting them out of the mall. We heard from lisa amin gulezian, who spoke with shoppers who heard that they were in a state of uncertainty, what to do, do they stay locked down or do they vacate the premise . One thing that was quite impressive she spoke with a couple of young women who worked at the mall, very poised, very compos greet they saw and heard and able to keep their wits about them. A aand a textbook response to this situation. Everybody inside hid, they turned off the lights, remained quiet and still until police came to find them and let them know it was safe to move. It really was in a lot of ways a textbook response or their part. We talked about how quick the response has been and touching upon once again how San Francisco fire said they had gone through that active Shooter Training. The police department. Yeah, police department. Really just several weeks ago. And saying that that was vital in making sure the situation was handled to the best of their ability. The chief said three weeks ago they had this training. They said its not quite helpful, any time they get real world training it is helpful. This is a live picture as you look at at part of one of the entrances to the tanforan mall. The intensity of response has now changed. Its very investigatory now and theyre trying to make sure that everyone in the mall whos been hiding has been located and told that its safe to come out. And they also are still looking for two gunmen and they want to make sure those gunmen are not somewhere in that group of people who may still be hiding in the mall. But there is the sense that at least one of them may have gotten out fairly quickly and that report that one may have boarded a bart train and headed over to oakland. No one has been arrested yet but people are looking for two gunmen as a result. But the situation at the mall has shifted. A lot of the presence that was outside the mall is now inside as they go through painstakingly every Little Corner of that mall, which is a pretty large mall, the tanforan mall, and the Movie Theater connected to it as well and make sure that everyone who has been hiding is told its okay to come out and they want to check everyone and make sure no one slips through the cracks. And transportation and accessibility is something weve been focusing on this evening not only because of the heavily the heavy traffic in the area because of all the Police Presence but also on public transportation. A bart spokesperson we spoke with not too long ago said yes, the san bruno station still closed, however, the 12th street station back open. Ancer hassan, our abc 7 News Reporter, has been on the scene saying that yes, there had been stopped service for a time this afternoon. The call about a shooting inside the mall came in a few minutes before 4 00. 3 56 to be precise. And listen to the Police Response now. Gunshots right by the lemon and the tmobile. And we do also have some sound from san brunos police chief ed barberini. Lets take a listen. At 2 56 this afternoon the San Bruno Police department received a call of shots being fired at the shops of tanforan, the Shopping Mall thats just south of us. Officers from our department, the San Bruno Police department, responded to that call. Upon arrival we found two subjects that appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds. Both those subjects have been transported to a local hospital. Ill let the fire chief talk about their condition but it appears both of those subjects are fairly stable at this point. Our initial investigation seems to indicate this was not a random active shooter incident where someone was going in there and just shooting at individuals without any type of purpose or intent. We believe at this point we may have two separate shooters and they may have been shooting at each other or at someone else. So there was some type of intent or some type motive for this crime. Were conducting a systematic search of the mall. And all surrounding parking lots. I wish i had more information to provide you at this point. But were kind of hip deep in the investigation now. And thats pretty much all i have as far as the nuts and bolts of whats going on now. Chief, what is it about the investigation that we have nobody thats actually been arrested but i cant give you anything more than that. Thats the San Bruno Police chief updating the media not long ago. Abc 7 News Reporter serhassan. We should mention even though the 12th street station is back open there are residual delays. Anser, what are the delays where you are . Reporter according to Oakland Police they did find a weapon at the 12th street station but no arrests have been made. They got a lead a possible suspect or suspects were on a bart train heading toward oakland. So they closed the 12th street and 14th street station. What we were told is they stopped the trains, passengers were evacuated. They searched the platforms as well as the trains. They had some descriptions of the suspect. So they knew who they were looking for. But since this is an Ongoing Investigation they havent released any of those details. We did speak to some witnesss who were on one of the bart trains. This is how they describe the experience. It was a pretty crowded train. We got to 12th street. The doors didnt open. The operator said that there was police activity. People started asking why cant we just leave the station . Why do we have to stay here . The train operator said were not allowed to leave until bart Police Release us. And then they said theyd be opening the train and we would be evacuated off. So they were going car by car. We were on the first car. So they opened up the train and we all filed out single file, one by one, police with their guns drawn. Again, 12th street station has been reopened. The area has been clean cleared. Again, according to Oakland Police, no arrests have been made. Trucks blocking. But there are police still out here. But more as a safety precaution just to keep an eye on the area. Reporting live in oakland, anser hassan, abc 7 news. Weapon found. We dont know what kind of weapon. We dont know if its connected to the shooting or if they found a weapon. But it could be the suspect dumped that weapon. We dont know. Now were taking a live look. Sky 7 is back up in the air giving you a different Vantage Point of the mall. A rather wide one where you can still see on the ground lots of Police Presence. We should explain the reason why we did not have sky 7 moments ago. It is because of the conditions. Were told it was rather foggy. Visibility not quite the best. Also for a time sky 7 initially, when this story broke at around 4 00, after a short time was told to pull back a little bit as not to interfere with the investigation. But sky 7 live once again over the tanforan mall in san bruno. Where you can see still a large amount of Police Presence along with other agencies on the ground. Sometimes a helicopter has to refuel after its been up for a while. And sfo is not far away. The Police Response largely inside the mall because they have moved inside to search the mall. Lisa amin gulezian has been hearing remarkable stories of witnesses, people who were shopping and or working atll the mall, and shes live once again. Reporter dan, people just came out of the Jcpenney Store about 15 minutes ago. Theyd been on lockdown inside the store for 30 to 40 minutes. And right now chp officers just went inside of the store. Theyre part of the search efforts inside going store to store, room to room, checking to see the people are out of there. There are people who could not know whats been happening here just like people in the Jcpenney Store they were in there and had no information, they didnt know why they were on lockdown and it was only once they came out and i started talking to them and telling them what had transpired that they even knew there had been a shooting in the mall. Right now a lot of information is slowly getting to people who were inside of the mall and werent part of the crowd that was running oget out of the stores. But the people who were just simply told to wait inside. And i did speak with a father and daughter who were inside of the mall and they had some remarkable stories to share. Take a listen. And so when you ran in, what did you see . What were the looks on peoples faces . Oh, the look of fear. I mean, they looked like they were running a marathon. You had elderly people and youngsters. They were just running as fast as they can run. Reporter thank you for joining us. Now we also have angelica, georges daughter, who was working inside the mall. Angelica, what store were you in and what were people doing inside your store . I work ate astore called damask next to Barnes Nobles and people were just leisurely shopping. All of a sudden i see this mopping of people just start running from the left side of the mall and screaming shooting, shooting. And the look on the people, their faces just had terror. And you have to process it for a second to hear is it really is it really a shooting . And all of a sudden my dad came in and he told everyone in our store, theres an armed active shooter in the mall. Lockdown. So your dad was the one making these announcements. Yes, he was the one making the announcements and telling people to get out of the mall. Reporter what did you do . Our manager decided to lock down our store. Were grabbing people, coming into the store and my manager was pulling people in. Right when we got the last person in who was a young boy we locked the doors and turned off the lights. Reporter then what did you do . Afterwards we waited to see if any police would arrive on scene and they did very quickly. We saw s. W. A. T. Going into the mall coming from the right. And they were surveillancing the area. Reporter were you kind of hunkered down inside of your store for a little bit of time . A little bit of time, yeah. A lot of people and customers were panicked. So it struck up a little bit of fear. And so we were just waiting patiently until we got further instruction. Reporter when did you eventually get out of the mall . I got out of the mall maybe 20 minutes after the shooting. I got escorted with members from my store. We got escorted by the s. W. A. T. Team. Reporter how do you feel knowing all this has happened, were now learning that four people in total have been shot. How does it feel knowing you were inside the mall at the time . Well, for one, im very grateful that it wasnt our store that got targeted. Because the shots, when i heard them, they sounded quite close. And you know, i was talking to a lady who was a customer in our store and she had a lot of fear and panic and she said what if this was the day that i died . I told her, youve got to know where youre going, i have skreefs in my life. So she was asking me why is it that i was so calm. And thats what made me the most calm. My dad ran out of the store to go help the s. W. A. T. Team if need be. It definitely was something ive never experienced and i hope cannot experience again. And i hope that the people who got injured are safe and i hope they catch whoever is the suspect. Give us the layout of this mall. I obviously think you know the workings of this mall. A lot of the activity happened in the food court. Where is that as opposed to where we are right now . Is it a Big Food Court and is that where it seemed like the shots were coming from . The food court is opposite of where were located right now. Its near the cinemark Movie Theater. Its going to be on the left side of where were at on the right side. The food court is quite large. Its actually two stories. When i heard the shots, i didnt know if it was coming from the food court or from somewhere else in the mall. But the food court is quite large. Its quite hard to give an exact description of where it could have possibly been. And the noise all seemed to be coming from the food court and people were running from that direction . I assume since people were running from that direction it had to happen in that direction. Yeah, the food court is big. Im sure there was a lot of people that were near that area. Always active, always busy. Reporter a lot of people were definitely praying here at tanforan mall today. Based on what had happened. There were people who were also in the barnes noble store. I spoke with a manager there, and she said they got all of their patrons in the back stockroom, actually. They turned off the lights. They locked the doors. And they all just sat there hunkered down inside the stock room hoping that no one that had a gun would find them. In the end it was officers that came, knocked on the door, made sure they got out safely, escorted them out of the mall. And i spoke with the manager who gave me all these details. A lot of stories here tonight at tanforan mall based on what had happened here in the last two hours. Still a Large Police Presence. They are inside of the mall going store to store making sure everyone has gotten out of the mall safely, informing people, letting them know what had happened and also that it is safe to come out. And so vividly recounting what happened in such detail. And as we head to break we do want to take a look at sky w r. That this is the 12th street bart station . Is that where yeah. Its the bart parking lot. As we head to break wanted to take a look there. Still very active. We do know that even though the in san bruno. I see. Theres the century theater. Mmhmm. As they pull out, even though we do know over in oakland 12th street reopened, still residual delays. Something we wi all right. Lets take you back live once again. Youre looking at the bart station at the san bruno mall, the tanforan mall, the century theaters there, huge multiplex theater. This mall was packed with people a couple of days before the july 4th holiday and at 3 56 the first call came in that shots were fired. We now know that two people were wounded, young people, we believe 15 and 18 years of age. One in serious condition, the other critically wounded. But they are stable. Investigators at San Francisco General Hospital. Theyll be trying to get information from them. But in the meantime two suspects, two people who apparently pulled guns and started shooting at each other, are still on the loose tonight. And in reference to the two who were victims of that shooting between the ages of 15 and 18. Lyanne melendez who has been at San Francisco General Hospital really since the beginning of all of this. Lyanne, what can you tell us . Reporter well, you know, because of hipaa rules the hospital can give us only so much information. But this is what we have so far. What we have been reporting. In the past. Of course the victims, two males, were brought in. They were immediately rushed to this hospital right after the shooting. We have no updates. The last one was about an hour ago or so. Only what was given to us before, which is that these are teens, very young people. One is in critical condition, the other in serious condition. We dont even know if they are in surgery right now. But the spokesperson for San Francisco general said they have been assessed. Got the patients, assessed them, and are going through assessment right now and then well go into treatment phase and well do what we can to deal with the injuries. Reporter he also told us that the two victims have been taken to get ct scans to see exactly where the bullet or bullets penetrated. They told us, you know, we practiced for this all the time. As many people know, this is the citys only level one Trauma Center. So they see a lot of gunshot victims. The hospital spokesperson saying so sadly we get a lot of practi practice. Again looking over the tanforan shopping center, the tanforan mall. People waiting outside now many of whom have been waiting inside till it was safe to come out. Some knew exactly why they were hiding and weve heard other people in various parts of the mall who didnt hear gunshots and had no idea why they were being told they could not leave and being told to stay put are just now being retrieved and removed by police safe and sound. But many have been there for a couple of hours now. Many had no idea why. Patience being key. Almost in a waiting pattern figuring out what to do, should we leave, should we stay in lockdown. We are taking a live look from sky 7 of the bart station there that is closed after reports of what happened. Two teenagers taken to sf general. One in serious, one in critical condition. After that shooting happened earlier this afternoon. And two other people injured in the effort to get out of harms way. Maybe they were knocked to the floor or trampled a little bit. But they refused any treatment. This bart station at san bruno hugely popular with young people who take it to get there and hang out at this mall. Now youre looking at ground video live. You see the jcpenney there off to the right and the barnes noble which is really kind of close by where it happened. The shooting happened at the food court, which is its a twostory food court. And on the upper level there was a one victim being treated on the floor after being shot. So this happened in and around the Food Court Area of the tanforan Shopping Mall. And we do want to take a look now at a map indicating the closure of the san bruno bart station and also mention the 12th street station which is back open after it was closed for a short time. But there is residual delay there. Keep that in mind. Bart does say the suspect may have gotten onto a train. Bart says they have recovered a weapon a train. We are still gathering details under the circumstances. And we should bart the Oakland Police said theres a weapon. Bart is not sure whether, not confirming whether theres a weapon yet on that train. They were the two that were shot, one in serious condition, one in critical condition. This is a very popular mall, not too far from San Francisco airport. Packed with people celebrating the 4th of july holiday week. Lots of teenagers there hanging out at the mall now that school is out. And this shooting happened at about 3 56 were the first reports. The mall immediately locked down and then evacuated over a long period of time. Yeah. And if youre just joining us we do want to give you a recap of the developments of what happened after that shooting happened. You can see there a Large Police Presence. We saw hundreds from different agencies descend on the mall within a matter of minutes. We do know from san brunos police chief that this was not a random shooting and that two males were involved, two teenagers were taken to San Francisco General Hospital, one in serious and also one in critical condition. And as we said not a random act. Police are searching for possibly two suspects they believe. Bart says one suspect may have gotten on a train, a bart, is hedging on whether a weapon was recovered. Oakland police said a weapon was recovered. Bart is not confirming that report. And we dont know if that weapon if it was recovered is connected to the shooting. It could have been someone on the train realized people were searching and decided we better dump the gun. We just dont know. A lot more to find out in the next few minutes and hours as this situation continues. But we do know two people hurt, one seriously, one critically, and we do know police right now still searching for two shooters, the two people they believe pulled guns during some kind of of incident at the mall and started shooting at each other.
