Reporter dan and kristen, its been one day since one of the worst Mass Shootings in modern history. The entire community of parkland is leaning on each other for support. This is our home and this is where we will not be intimidated by evil. Reporter a community in mourning, 17 lives lost, many of them steteenage students. I can imagine going to biology class and not seeing her next to me. Its craze iz. Reporter she survived the attack. Im in shock. An emotional wreck. I dont know how to take this and im just im thankful to be here, but at the same time im so hurt to know that a lot of people i know are gone. Reporter the alleged gunman now in custody, charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. Are you Nicolas Jacob cruz . Yes, maam. Reporter nikolas cruz was expelled from his high school more than a year ago. He returned wednesday afternoon in an uber armed with an ar15 rifle that according to records show was purchased legally. The rampage all over in a matter of minutes. According to authorities, cruz was found and arrested about an hour and a half later and has since told police he heard voices that told him to plan the attack. Authorities are now combing through his social media accounts. Some of the things that come to mind are very, very disturbing. Reporter sources tell abc news this was his Instagram Account holding a pistol in another a large knife. Leaning on each other for support, this entire area was filled with thousands of people at the vigil last night all coming here, supporting one another, standing together in a moment of silence. And it was so impactful to be hearing people sobbing in this area right here as the victims names were read out loud. Everyone has a personal connection it seems from the past day, day and a half, everyone knew someone that went to that high school so this impacting nearly everyone in the community. If you look behind me, you can see those 17 angels sort of a hunting reminder of what was lost. In addition to photographs of some of the victims, prom photos of some of the victims. Nicholas dworet had been recruited to swim at the university of indianapolis. Those who knew 17yearold Joaquin Oliver describe him as a very loving kid who would have done anything for his friends and family. 15yearold luke hoyer, his family wrote, luke was a beautiful human being. 14yearold Gina Montalto served on the schools color guard team. The oakland dmv office is going to remain closed until march 5th because of flooding. Water and Ceiling Tiles poured down last week after someone took copper piping from the roof. Ntsb officials said the engine suffered what is called a compressor stall and an engine surge. It resulted in outer panels of the engine sheering off and falling into the pacific. Investigators spent today at the Honolulu Airport looking at the engine and the plane. The flight data recorders have been sent to washington for review.
