Gunfire on a bay area freeway that happened early this morning on interstate 280 in San Francisco. Three people were shot. They drove themselves to the hospital. Abc7 News ReporterTiffany Wilson live at chp headquarters in San Francisco with this developing story. Reporter good morning. Chp says its impossible to tell whether the shooting was targeted at this point. The victims were also inside a black escalade, five people inside, three suffered gunshot wounds. All are expected to survive. The glow of flares greeted Early Morning commuters trying to make their way south on 280 today. Everybody was exited at lemany boulevard. We collected quite a bit of evidence from the scene, including shell casings. Reporter officers started receiving calls about the shooting at 2 50 this will morning. Three people suffered gunshot wounds. The victims drove themselves to the hospital. The three parties that were at the hospital, all suffered what would be deemed to be nonlifethreatening injuries. And some are, i believe one or two are still there for treatment now but will be released soon. Investigators have already interviewed the shooting victims. They all indicated they did not see anything. Theyre not speaking to why they were shot at. Reporter officer vu williams says they dont know if this was a targeted shooting. Currently, investigators have no information on the shooters vehicle. It looks like it was vehicletovehicle because where the shell casings were placed and landed. Reporter chp is asking anyone who saw anything to come forward. There are no cameras at this section of 280. 280 was shut down and reopened shortly before 7 00 a. M. This morning. Tiffany, thank you. There could be a few random showers develop in the afternoon before the main event begins tonight and lasts through tomorrow morning. It will start off moderate in the north bay and become light exiting the south bay. Less than quarter of an inch in most areas. Up to half an inch in the north bay will be pretty generous. Well take a look at those coming up in about ten minutes. As far as other things happening today, its our 18th winter spare the air alert. The coast including San Francisco has poor air quality. No wood burning today. As you near the coast, high surf advisory. Dangerous surf. Breakers up to about 20 feet possible through 4 00 tomorrow afternoon. Part of highway 101 between ventura and Santa Barbara remains closed as crews try to removed trees, cars and mud. Police in sunnyvale arrested a san jose man accused of moat lesing a teenager. 23yearold henry reed is charged with sending indecent matter to a minor, and it included inappropriate comments and touching the 17yearold victim. Reporter a big enthusiastic crowd packed the station in san jose this morning. People were handed their commemorative tickets for the Martin Luther king celebration train to San Francisco. Where theyll take part in the mlk day events at the Yerba Buena Center for arts. Equality for all people. We try to celebrate this Beautiful Day and remember the man that did, you know, things for humanity. Reporter cal train says there were a big demand in tickets, the ride up the peninsula to San Francisco. Last year 950 people signed up for the trip. This year 1200 people signed up. Now more than ever people are starting to realize the true legacy of Martin Luther king, his fight for racial equality and social justice. The greatest amount of sunshine is going to be aycross the sout bay heading into the afternoon hours. Noon will be hazy but our brightest time for all of us and clouds will thicken with random sprinkles at 4 00. By 8 00 a shower or two and by midnight the showers start increasing, especially across the north bay. Tomorrow, 47 to 52 degrees, even a little milder than it was this morning. Notice the yellows and greens out there. Thats some of the light to moderate rain well get barely out of the system because most of the energy is going to head to the north. Were going to get the tail end. Kind of the leftovers, if you will. Heres how it goes hour by hour from noon up to 4 00. You can see some random light showers to sprinkles coming in with that next batch of clouds. Notice how they fall apart during the evening commute. Lets turn our attention up here to lake mendicino county. 2 00 its in the north bay. Deeper. By 4 00 its starting to roll into the heart of the bay and its also starting to break up. From 7 00 to 9 00 as it moves into the south bay, it kind of falls apart. By noon its completely gone. Lets take a look at the rain. If youre going to be out starting the commute at about 4 00, there may be measurable rain from navarro northward. By 7 00 will could be light to measurable rain along the coast from San Francisco to half moon bay. Overnight well see it fill in. The rain gets heavier, from San Francisco oakland northward. By the end of the commute tomorrow, some rain will reach the east bay and the south bay, but it will be very light.
